A lot of places are still seeing some rain but not nearly as much as what we saw earlier. This area that came through is moving up to new york, but we also have an area back to the west that is coming in and that will be affecting us later on tonight. So just because the radar looks kind of quiet here, theres still more back to the west that could sneak through. Dont leave the windows open tonight. Just a few little sprinkles left over. So there is no heavy rain thats coming during this next few hours, but later on tonight you can see some of those showers coming across. Some of them in the middle of the night. Look at these showers. Rapidly moving through. And by morning its all out of here. The temperatures are well above average for this time of the year, even some places in the 50s. The aftermath of a shootout between a man who lives here and two intruders who forced their way inside his home. Around 11 00 at night, i was sleeping with my wife upstairs and i heard about six shots. The police officers, they took the wife out. When they assist him in putting him on the stretcher, thats when they went in the house and they recover the kids and they took them out. Reporter police say the 26yearold husband and 24yearold wife had just returned home. While the wife was putting their four yuoung children to bed upstairs, two gunmen knocked on the door and forced their way inside. One started firing striking the man who lives here in the mouth and leg. Homicide investigators tell us the homeowner returned fire fatally shooting one intruder in the head. The other ran away. You have concerns about what happened with four babies upstairs . I mean, its dangerous, especially, you know, people kind of shooting each other back and forth and these houses have thin walls. Its concerning especially you never know what house theyre going to go into, you know . It could have been my house. Reporter now, along with the drugs found inside the house, police tell us they located two semiautomatic handguns. One belonging to the homeowner, the other to one of the intruders. Jim, they were made in the Early Morning hours of december 19th, shortly after police began looking for Jeremiah Monell. They found him last night at a strip mall. Hes accused of shooting tara watson to death inside her home. She was his estranged wife. The couples son and daughter witnessed the murder. The boy then ran to a neighbors house for help. The 14yearold was crossing shore road near ocean avenue in upper township when a 17yearold driver didnt see her in time and hit her. They have not charged the driver. The teen is expected to recover from her injuries. After six years of a fourday work week, staff at Administrative Offices in upper merion township are going back to a fiveday work week. In 2010, the staff started working only four days. The add was to save money during a time when the economy wasnt doing so well. Now that the economy is on the upswing, staff is back to working five days a week. Really, it was just expanding our offerings, the cost savings was more than offset by the money coming into the town. We could afford to do this. It is really just about serving the residents. Since staffers were back today, theyre only working a fourday week this week. In the transition to president elect donald trump, House Republicans have scrapped a plan to change the congressional ethics office. That was a quick turnaround. Many had criticized the proposed changes including trump himself. Gop leaders voted behind closed doors yesterday to give themselves ultimate control over the ethics office. It was created several years ago after prescribery and corruption scandals in congress. The move would have kept information about the investigations from the public. The representative who proposed the amendment was to make sure that house members got due process. But the president elect responded with two tweets that said that with all that congress has to work on, do they really have to make the weakening of the independent ethics watchdog, as unfair as it may be, their number one act and priority . They were told to clean the football locker room. The victim refused and tried to leave. Thats when the victim testified he was shoved, pushed and held down by the three teenagers. Visibility isnt great but at least we dont have dense fog in most of the area right now. We have temperatures in the 40s in most of the area at the moment. 46 in wilmington and claymont and glasgow. Harmony hills, middletown is 46. Also farther to the south were at 50 plus as the wind has shifted into the west. Ellendale, milton, Rehoboth Beach and dewey beach are 49 degrees. You can see the steady rain, the soaky rain that we had all day is pretty much moved out. Were just left with a little bit of drizzle. But theres another area back here by cincinnati thats moving straight to the east. And so were not giving you the allclear for the night because some of those showers could move through especially in our pennsylvania counties and from Burlington County northward in new jersey. Later on during the night. But by the time you get up in the morning, it should be dry. It still may be cloudy. There may be a little bit of fog. Well be watching this system coming from the west coast moving straight west to east. So it doesnt have a whole lot of moisture with it. Its not a big storm. I asked if there was an alternative. Reporter the hospital could administer the shots instead and put her on a payment plan. She took her doctors advice but she had no idea the cost would increase more than ten times. This bill shows the first shot at 11,000 and two others cost nearly 14,000. Her copay was eight grand. To be hit with those costs is just, just unbelievable. Reporter she was also hit with a billing error. She told us she fought the charges for six weeks telling the hospital it should have told her about the costs beforehand. But christiana wouldnt budge. I was told there is nothing they can do.
