And tonight philadelphia could be at risk of losing federal funding after announcement of attorney general Jeff Sessions on sanctuary cities. Nbc10 news jacqueline london is live to breakdown what the attorney general said. Sanctuary cities offer safe harbor for undocumented immigrants and refuse to help immigration officers. Attorney Jeff Sessions said cities could lose funding. Those cities adopted policies designed to frustrate the enforcement of our immigration laws. And if those cities are applying for grants from the office of justice programs, they have to prove they are complying with immigration officials. Today the attorney general slammed sanctuary city policies saying they put american lives at risk. Duis, assaults, burglaries, drug crimes, gang rape, countless americans would be alive today if these policies of sanctuary cities were ended. The Obama Administration had a similar policy in place. President trump had said during the campaign that he would defund sanctuary cities by taking away their federal funding. Live in the breaking news center, jacqueline london, nbc10 news. Thank you. Sanctuary cities, Health Care Fallout and the budget. There is a lot happening in washington today. Nbc10 mark murray joins us live from our nations capital. Thanks for having me. A surprise threat from the attorney general this afternoon. Do you think that sanctuary cities like philadelphia will play ball with the white house . Probably not at least in the short run and heres why. This is going to be tied up in courts and theres going to be an argument saying that the federal government cant tie our federal funds to the behavior when it comes to this type of policy, and so i wouldnt be surprised if you end up seeing lawsuit after lawsuit from big urban centers in america trying to go to the court in saying this is not fair. And it has to do with the courts rule and if the courts rule is the Trump Administration is right and maybe they play ball but not until then. The fallout from fridays no vote on the health care bill, the democrats hold the power since weve seen that republicans are willing to go against the president. One of the choices that President Trump has to make after health care is one of his options is having democrats play ball and get him across the finish line but whether or not democrats actually do that when so few number of democratic voters approve of President Trump and that there might be some backlash for doing so. President trumps other option is to actually have a unified party. He needs to have one of those options work, neither of them are going to be easy for them to fulfill. And we will wait and see what our sanctuary cities do and pennsylvania, and delaware and new jersey moving forward. Thank you so much for your time. Thanks. Heres whats going to happen. Watch closely. See all the little wind arrows. Theyre coming out of the south at this hour but by tomorrow well get some of them coming from the east, some of them coming from the south. By overnight we look at some thunderstorms moving through the area. Then we really start to see a little bit of difference in the wind arrows. You have some coming in from the northeast, some from the south and thats where that frontal boundary is going to be set up at this area of low pressure pushes across the area and that will trigger more showers and storms. The best chance will be south of philly but if that boundary lifts further north well see them across the philly metro area as well. Cool air streams in. It was almost like the three bears, little too warm in one place, little too cold in another and just right for some of us. We did have some patchy fog out there, delays at the airports.
