Township. First alert traffic reporter Jessica Boyington has details on both of these issues. Sticky backup this morning. We have seen these backups on 95 all morning long. Now, this is because of, of course, like you saw from 95 northbound around gerard avenue, that tractor trailer accident has caused a big mess. Now, were at a 72minute drive time headed northbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway. Shouldnt be that high. Its completely in the red right now. This is a shot of 95 right around wolf street, where all traffic is being forced off right now around columbus boulevard. So at a standstill because all of this traffic has to get off one small exit ramp. Definitely big delays there. Also seeing some delays onto the vine street expressway because a ramp from the vine street expressway through center city is also blocked so theres no exit to 95 northbound there either. Theres also an accident of the p. A. Turnpike eastbound which is closed around mile marker 357. And another accident on the p. A. Turnpike in a different area, westbound, mile marker 301. Now to the new jersey turnpike accident scene that has the lanes closed. Hamilton township, a truck fire headed northbound, 195, all lanes blocked there also. Just simply heartbreaking. No other way to say it. You know how a father who witnesses this, right, he sees this. You know how a father must have felt. We are following breaking news once again from the orlando area where the search continues for a 2yearold boy who was dragged into the water by an alligator near disneys upscale grand floridian resort. The resort is in lake buena vista. Thats not far from downtown orlando. All beaches, ferry boats and marinas at Walt Disney World are closed for the safety of the guests there. Gabe gutierrez has the latest on the search for the child. Overnight, a frantic search about 50 officers combing a manmade lake for a 2yearold boy. Snatched while on vacation at disney world. The 2yearold male child has not been located. This is still a search and rescue operation. Just after 9 00 tuesday night, police say the father and son from nebraska were near the edge of the grand Floridian Hotel lagoon when an alligator between 4 and 7 feet long attacked the child. The father entered the water and tried to grab the child. Was not successful in doing so. At some point, im told that the mother also may have entered the water, so the parents diligently tried to get the child. There have been at least 41 unprovoked major alligator attacks in florida since 2010. Everyone here at the Walt Disney World resort is devastated by this tragic accident. Police say that no such attack has been recorded at the lagoon before. And no nuisance alligators have been reported in the area recently. We have an alligator tracker on the water right now. There were signed warning visitors not to swim in the lagoon. As a father, as a grandfather, were going to hope for the best in these circumstances. But based upon my 35 years of Law Enforcement experience, we know that we have some challenges ahead of us at this time. And that was nbcs Gabe Gutierrez reporting. Terror in orlando, as communities across the country continue to mourn the 49 victims who died in the nightclub shooting, were learning more about the gunman. Federal agents say omar mateens wife was with her husband when he bought ammunition and a holster used in the attack. They say she may have tried to talk him out of the killing spree weeks ago. Authorities are considering filing criminal charges against her for failing to warn them before the attack, but no decision has yet been made. The fbi is also taking a closer look at reports that mateen was a regular at gay nightclubs, including pulse. The city of orlando is continuing the grieving process. Last night, five major vigils were held citywide. One took place at orlandos biggest church, first baptist. As people mourn, were getting a first look at the medical heroes. These are the nurses and trauma surgeons who treated 44 of the victims. In a matter of 30 minutes, i think we had multiple surgeons coming in the door to help us out. I saw dozens of nurses who i knew were not on that night who showed up. President obama will travel to orlando on thursday to meet with the victims and their families. And today, west Catholic Preparatory High School in philadelphia will hold a vigil in honor of one of its recent graduates killed in the mass shooting. Akyra murray was in orlando celebrating her graduation with family and friends. She was a basketball standout at west catholic and received a full scholarship to mercy hearse university. The private vigil will be tonight at 6 00. The ben franklin bridge will be very colorful over the next few nights. In a tribute to the victims in orlando. Heres a live look now at the bridge. Youll have to wait until dusk, but this evening, the ben franklin bridge will be lit with the colors of the rainbow. Heres what it will look like, the ben franklin bridge will wear the rainbow flag. The bridge will remain lit in rainbow colors through saturday its cloudy at the jersey shore right now, and parts of our area will see rain today. Heres a live look at cape may and chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is here with your neighborhood forecast. Glenn, were also seeing sunshine, too. Yeah, denise, some parts of the area are seeing bright, sunny skies like the Lehigh Valley. Look how blue the sky is. But in delaware, its pretty cloudy. And a little ominous. Most of new jersey is sunny, but down toward the shore, its cloudy. Philadelphia, weve got some high clouds and temperatures a little below 80. This picture shows just how clear it is from north of philadelphia down toward Atlantic City and the clouds farther to the south. So just about all of delaware is in the clouds. Much of extreme south jersey is in it, even Chester County is kind of cut halfway, northern chester is sunny, southern chester is cloudy. We have some showers coming down from maryland, so there is some rain falling in southern delaware now, and more will fall in the afternoon. But its not moving up toward the philadelphia area, so we expect at least a mix of clouds and sun. Sun the high clouds. The farther north and west you go, the sunnier it is. You can see that in the Lehigh Valley, farther to the south, we have more clouds. Keeping the temperature down a bit. We have some rain thats going to be affecting just about everybody, get the timing of that in a few minutes. All right, glenn, thank you. 5 people in wilmington are in the hospital after someone shot them last night. Police say a gunman opened fire around 9 15 last night near South Van Buren and reed streets. Police were on the scene overnight looking for the gun and trying to get a description of the shooter. The victims are in stable condition. Their names have not been released. This fire at a business in Montgomery County burned for more than four hours overnight. Our nbc10 crew captured flames shooting from clemens uniform rental at fifth street and mitchell avenue in lansdale. The building is so large it took crews a while to figure out how to get enough water on that fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt and Officials Say theyre trying to determine whether the fire is suspicious. And now to an update on the breaking news we brought you yesterday on nbc10 news at 11 00. Philadelphia police have identified the body of a woman found in fairmount park. Police say a 911 caller led them to the body of toy charda bryant from chester, Delaware County. Resort will open later today with 900 hotele9v v n rooms a amenities, but they say he does not have a certificate of occupiancy, a key requirement to open. They say july 4th is a more likely opening date. Well, if thats not open, there are going to be a lot of people at the shore this weekend because the weather is going to be great. We have great weather for the Lehigh Valley now, sunshine and 76 in allentown, but the cloudier it is and the cooler it is. 71 in dover. There, cooler than this time yesterday. Allentown is 8 degrees warmer. Philadelphia, 7 degrees warmer. Mt. Holly, 8 degrees warmer than at this time yesterday. Well, lets see what is going on at the shore right now. The wind not quite straight off the ocean, so its warming up a little bit. Its 74 in Atlantic City. 80 in mays landing. The ocean temperature up to 65. And that will help with the sea breezes as they come in, especially beginning of the weekend, so it wont be as chilly. Look at this area of showers coming right across central delaware, not seeing all of it reach the ground, but theres some. Its not moving up to the north, so the Lehigh Valley looks like were still going to be seeing sunshine all day, and theres the next area of rain thats going to be moving in. Today is definitely going to be the warmest day of the week. Going up to about 84 after 78 yesterday. The rain and east wind keep the temperature down on thursday and friday, were starting to come back up, but that will depend on how much sunshine we get. We do have rain on the way. Especially for tomorrow. Here we go tonight, some of it starting to come in from the west. And some of that pretty heavy, as you saw. Later on tonight, and first thing in the morning, we have an east wind, so some of that is going to come right back, so well have cloudy skies, cooler weather, periods of rain tomorrow. And then watch what happens as we go into friday. Look at this. Big area of rain. It goes straight down to the south, and the dry air starts to come down from the north as we go into look at that. Start clearing out, that sets us up for this beautiful weekend. Tomorrow, not so beautiful. A lot of clouds around. We have some periods of rain, fox chase at 76. Lansdale, only 75. Easton, only 75. Allentown, 76. Again, most places are in the 80s today. Atlantic city, only 68. Kind of a nasty day at the shore tomorrow. And the chance of thunderstorms in parts of delaware with rain in addition to that. As we go into philadelphia, today, of course, the warmest day. Tomorrow, the wettest day. And then friday, we start to dry out. Watch what happens, the farther north you go, the sunnier it gets for friday. The quicker it gets sunny. And then in new jersey, we still have partly cloudy skies on friday. But at the jersey shore and delaware, weve got that rain symbol, so it could be a little rain first thing in the morning. Even though areas will start to clear later on. Well get into the weekend in more detail later. Thank you, glenn. Still ahead, a story of survival. We continue to follow breaking news. No other way to say it. You now have a father who witnesses this, right, he sees this. You know how that father must have feft. It happened at disneys grand floridian resort and spa, not far from downtown orlando. And about a half hour from now, we expect another update from officials on that search. This is a live look as crews are setting up for the news conference. It begins at noon. And Sarah Rosario is there live with the latest on the search and whats happened in the moments before the boy disappeared. Yeah, denise, its been a grueling search here. Crews working now for 14 hours to find any sign of that boy dragged away in a pond by an alligator. His father telling us he tried to that child. That family from nebraska coming here to the happiest place on earth just three days into their vacation, when tragedy strikes. Were being kept a ways away from the actual pond. This is the media staging area. You can get a better picture of what it looks like at the scene there. This is the shore of the seven seas lagoon, the family hanging out on the beach, its movie night. One of the children is placed in a playpen and the other playing in Shallow Water along the shore. Thats when tragedy strikes. The gator lunging out of the water, grabbing the 2yearold boy, taking him into the dark water. The father jumped in after the child, unable to stop the attack. The mother jelling for a life guard. Its too late. Crews working through the night searching both by boat and by air trying to find that toddler. Even using sonar technology. The Sheriffs Office is telling us no signs so far of the toddler, but theyre not giving up hope. Take a listen. Right now, all were doing is were searching hopefully for a little boy to bring a family comfort. Were not just thinking about what may happen down the road. Were focusing on the here, the now, the today. And again, in addition to the Sheriffs Office here in orange county, we have florida fish and Wildlife Commission working with them along with dive teams. So far, they have pulled four gators from the pond, killing all of them and searching their insides to see if theres any signs of the boy. So far, no luck. Reporting live in orlando, Sarah Rosario, back toyou, denise. Terror in orlando. Sources tell nbc news Law Enforcement officials are considering filing federal charges against the shooters wife for not telling police about a possible attack. Nbcs leanne gregg with details of the wifes knowledge of the shooting and resources provided for victims and their loved ones. Denise, one of the questions is could it have been prevented . How much did the wife know about her husbands deadly plot and why didnt she tell anyone . Federal officials are investigating those issues. Its the only picture we have seen of omar mateens wife, smiling next to a blurred image of her child with her mass killer husband. Now new Information Sources say shes sharing with the fbi could land her in jail. Officials familiar with the case tell nbc news she told the fbi she drove her husband to scout pulse nightclub at least once, telling officers she begged him not to carry out any type of attack, but admits she was with him when he bought rounds of ammunition and a holster he used in the massacre. Tuesday, the gunmans father refused to answer questions about his sons wife and what shy she may have known about the attacks, only saying he cant forgive his son for the deadly mass shooting. I look over and he shoots the girl next to me. And im just there laying down. Im thinking, im next. Im dead. Angel was shot three times in the attack. Still hospitalized like many of the 53 victims. Meanwhile, the city of orlando continues to come together to help the families of those killed. Investigators try to figure out why the gunman decided to open fire in the nightclub, were getting a firsthand account from one of the survivors of the attack minute by minute. Take a listen to the 20yearold philadelphia native patience carter. The gunman entered the bathroom and was shooting his machine gun, so were all like scrambling around in the bathroom, screaming at the top of our lungs when he was in there for the first time. Then people are getting hit by bullets, like blood is everywhere. It was shock. We went from having the time of our lives to the worst night of our lives all within a matter of minutes. Now, patience carter was at the nightclub with a couple good friends. One of them, west catholic high gradual akyra murray was killed in the massacre. Patience always shared a poem she wrote monday night. She said its part of the healing process. One of the lines reads, the guilt of being alive is heavy. And you can listen to her entire interview and read her poem on nbc10. Com or the nbc10 app. Well, its cloudy in some places right now. Sunny in other parts. Heres a live look outside at boathouse row in philadelphia, getting plenty of sunshine this morning. And nbc10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is here with a mixed bag of a forecast. Right, denise. Some neighborhoods perfectly sunny. Other neighborhoods completeliy. Philadelphia in between with high clouds. 56 degrees. Theres perfect sunny Lehigh Valley, 76. Totally cloudy in delaware, a shot of rehoboth beach, live shot. Lets see how the temperature is doing in philadelphia where we do have some of the clouds. 76 at the airport. Society hill is 80. Penns port, 83. West mt. Airy, 83. Even parts of the philadelphia area that have a little thinner clouds that are getting a little warmer. You can see how cloudy it is in delaware and extreme south jersey. Those clouds do not appear and the rain does not appear to be moving up in the direction of wilmington or philadelphia or any other part of the area. So its delawares turn today to see the clouds, to see some showers, to see the cooler temperatures, and that would be spreading across more of the area tomorrow. You can see we have a mix of clouds and sun in the philadelphia area. The p. A. Suburbs. Tempcoeratures getting up to 80r above. A lot of sunshine in the lehighy, but more clouds to the south, and then well see what happens tomorrow, more rain on the way. In a few minutes. Thank you, glenn. Police aring for a man who they say robbed a 7eleven in northeast philadelphia. Take a look at this video as the man walks into the store early monday morning. Detectives say he demands money and lottery tickets from the cashi cashier. He put the items in a bag and handed it over and then the man runs off. If you have information about the robbery or the man in the video, call philadelphia police. Well, this morning, were learning about a one of a kind Outdoor Learning space for kids in south philadelphia. It will give interactive experiences in s. T. E. M. Subjects, and Pamela Osborne is live at chester author elementary school. You got to take a firsthand look at the new space. We did. And right now, denise, this playground looks more like a parking lot, but come november, this entire space is going to be transformed to look like this. If children are our future, this new interactive outdoor classroom will put students here at Chester Arthur school a step ahead of the rest. For me, this is a part of creating that pipeline, of creating high quality Educational Opportunity for our young people. As a new dad himself, Kenyatta Johnson says he sees the value in the 1 million plus transformation thats about to take place, and so do the kids. Science and school will never be the same. In science, we never did anything like that. When mar kwan was in kindergarten, he said all there was was concrete and a basketball hoop. Hes excited to see how the jex generation of youngsters interact with this new s. T. E. M. Lab learning design. A new playground now and new trees, that will give kids an opportunity to learn about animals and plants. There will be a s. T. E. M. Lab to understand how water works, a moez lab, and a space for composting growing plants. The habitat lab is what has this sixth grader excited the most. I think the neatest part is that stuff because i never thought they really could add water to a schoolyard. All of this was made possible by donors like the William Penn Foundation and other grants from the water and redevelopment programs. For this precious gift, students here could only say one thing. Thank you. And once this project is complete, its going to be the largest green space in the gr Graduate Hospital neighborhood. Im Pamela Osborne, nbc10 news. And as you can see, a Beautiful Day in philadelphia, but some places like delaware, you can expect rain today. And everybody is going to see at least somewhat wet weather tomorrow. Is that going to last to the weekend . Thats just ahead. This morning, were getting an update on pennsylvanias efforts to combat opioid addiction and the overdose crisis. Just a few hours ago in harrisburg, the secretary for the States Department of drug and alcohol programs talked about whats being to combat the crisis. He said his department is educating kids in a kindergarten through 12th grade on the dangers of drug abuse. They also changed guidelines to steer doctors away from prescribingopeioids and look at alternative. Heroin and opioid addiction and overdoses have become an epidemic in our area. This saturday, a local organization is holding a can e candlelight vigil to remember those who have died and prevent more families from suffering a loss. Councilman dave white is here along with trisha, who lost her daughter pamela to an oefr dose more than six years ago. Thank you much for joining us today. Thanks for having us. Its important to talk about this task force, and i know you run it, youre the head of it, trisha. Tell me more about it. After i lost pamela, i was three years later, i was online and i found this narcotics Overdose Prevention education. And i contacted them. And in 2014, Delaware County became the first pennsylvania chapter of n. O. P. E. It was developed in palm beach, florida. That hits close to home. Thats your daughter pamela we see on the screen. You lost her six years ago. This has become such a crisis, and a lot of people are feeling this. Yeah, with finding n. O. P. E. , one of the first things we did was a candlelight vigil in my hometown of athens. Chester county has become a chapter, Montgomery County has become a chapter. Ee reached over 100,000 students. We do middle school, high school, and university presentations. Councilman, im sure you appreciate the efforts of families, parents who are affected and their push to move things forward. We have a Heroin Task Force that has partners with n. O. P. E. Trisha is part of the task force. We have been doing a very good job getting the word out, partners with groups like n. O. P. E. For education, prevent, treatment, and we started the task force back in 2012. And since then, we had initiatives that have been incredibly successful, whether its drug drop boxes at our police stations right up to davids law, being very instrumental. The district attorney, county counsel, helped to get davids law passed, working with our legislators and senators, state senators. And for those who dont know what davids law is, that allowed the Police Officers to administer naloxone when they came up on a Drug Overdose victim. Naloxone is a lifesaving drug that once administered, the victim is almost complete in absolute recovery from the overdose at that moment. They still need to be taken to a hospital. Its a great drug. Saved so many lives. 272 lives as of today in Delaware County. We want to talk about the vigil this saturday. They will hold an overdose awareneaware ness candlelight vigil, thats this saturday, june 18th, at 6 00 in the evening. For more information, come to our website at nbc10. Com or check out the nbc10 app. Thank you so much for joining us today. And talking about this very important issue. Thank you very much. You go farther to the south, weve got some 60s. 69 in ellen dale and felton, barely 70 in milton and lincoln and millsboro, and even cooler at the delaware beaches. You can see the effect of all of those clouds. You can see that the black area indicates clear skies. The white, thats cloud cover. You can see, theres a line right through the area. Even at the, its sunny in Atlantic City and overcast in cape may. Here come those showers. Theyre not moving up this way. Theyre just moving straight in the same direction. And points north. 75 tomorrow with clouds and rain and an east wind. Then we start to recover on tuesday. But we do have rain on the way, and it is coming from the west. Some of it coming in tonight. Watch what happens to this area. Heavier rain comes right across. Thats in the middle of the night and into the first thing tomorrow morning. And instead of just moving straight out, the rain kind regenerates right here. Thats because of that east wind, a bit of a storm to the south. The clouds stay in there. We have some east wind keeps the temperature down. And then as we go through thursday night and friday, okay, its cloudy to start. There goes the clearing from north to south. Thats on friday morning. Setting us up for the great weekend. For tomorrow, all that great. We have temperatures in the mid 70s. 74 in devon, 75 in reading. All those areas should get at least some rain during the day. And especially at the jersey shore. 68 in Atlantic City. Kind of a nasty day there. Dover, rehoboth beach, not all that either. Theres going to be this unbelievable heat wave in much of the country. This weekend, and into next week. 120 degrees in phoenix, arizona. A piece of that extreme heat is to be coming over as we go into early next week. But its not going to last. Over the next five days, quite a difference between philadelphia and the shore. Much lower temperatures tomorrow. Friday, we have the rain at the shore while were not seeing it in philadelphia. But everybody gets this beautiful, beautiful fathers day weekend. Well be right back.
