This is the second night of protests following the shooting of an africanamerican man in charlotte. This is what it looked like, you see there, downtown charlotte, police with Tactical Gear using rubber bullets and tear gas. At one point this morning, the protests spilled on to a highway blocking traffic. Tuesday afternoon, Charlotte Police say 43yearold keith scott ignored officers demands to drop his gun. Multiple witnesses dispute the account saying scott had no gun. According to protests last night, the city police chief said that at least one person was shot. But Officials Say the gunshot was not fired by an officer. One witness describes seeing that victim. I dont know. They just shot somebody right in front of me. Theres blood. Theres a crowd of people. I dont know i dont know if hes dead. Police say the man who was shot is in Critical Condition. Right now, at first, an official report went out the man was dead but that was later corrected. At the nbc station in charlotte tweeted out this picture showing windows of several stores smashed in the downtown area. A state of emergency is in effect. The National Guard and Highway Patrol is coming in to help local police. For now, those protests have dispersed, theyve pretty much ended around midnight. But now the cleanup begins. North carolinas governor has declared a state of emergency after a second night of protests turned violent. The governor said hes sending in the National Guard and state troopers to help restore order. It started as a prayer vigil involving the shooting of an africanamerican man. It turned into chaos when someone shot a protester. He is on life support. Police in riot gear fired flash grenades and tear gas that pushed back the tear gas. Six Police Officers and two other people were hurt. The family of the bombing suspect accused of planting multiple explosive devices in new york and new jersey is under new scrutiny. The fbi says that patch of dirt in ahmad rahamis back yard is burned because of the bomb. Meantime, nbc new york has video that appears to show rahami moments after the explosive device went off in new york city. You see rahami wheeling a suitcase where authorities believe theres a Pressure Cooker bomb in it. Also seen in the video, two men appear to have taken that bag but left behind the bomb inside. Investigators are trying to figure out who the men are. Authorities say theyre treating the men as witnesses, fought suspects. Still, police are looking for a robbery suspect chased away by a store owner who decided to fight back. Juan Carlos Garcia was attending to his store when a man threatened to hold him up. A man pulled his own gun and told him to get out and chased him away. He added that he didnt shoot because the man did what he was told. That tells him not to ever come in here again. No one was hurt. He was very fast. I had to do my best to reach him and get to him as soon as i could before he got hurt. He said he doesnt think he did anything heroic and encourages people to help someone like he did.
