Cameras in the area. And the hunt is on this morning for a gunman who fired shots in philadelphias soho neighborhood hitting a man on the head. It happened on east indiana avenue. Police rushed the victim to the hospital where hes listed in Critical Condition this morning. Investigators found 16 shell casings from 22 weapons at an apartment across the street. Police do not believe the victim was the intended target. Monsignor william lynn is back in court as he fights against a retrail after he served time for covering up clergy sex abuse against children. Matt, break this case down for us. Reporter well, tracy, whats happening today will be an argument of sorts before a judge. Monsignor william lynns attorney is trying to get the retrial dismissed. Take a look at this video here, this is monsignor william lynn being released from prison last year. His attorney filed a motion in part arguing that the commonwealth had in evidence the 2012 trial that could have been favorable to lynns defense. Lynn has served 32 months of a three to sixmonth sentence dating back to that trial that happened five years ago. He was convicted of covering up clergy sex abuse. And he was the first catholic could be convicted on those charges. The Pennsylvania Superior Court felt that jurors heard too much evidence of unrelated matters. Lynn was released on bail. Hes vowed to keep fighting for aine conviction. We will have a reporter in the courtroom as well. Mat delucia, nbc10 news. Family, friends and fellow Law Enforcement officers will gather in central pennsylvania for Funeral Services for a murdered Pennsylvania State trooper. A gunman shot trooper landon weaver last week while the trooper was responding to a domestic incident at a home in huntington county. Fellow troopers tracked the suspect to a mobile home where they killed him where he made threats. Trooper weaver was 22 years old and got married last year. A florida mother convicted of killing her 5yearold son in new jersey more than two decades ago is going to be sentenced today. She initially told authorities her son disappeared at a carnival at marevillemiddlesex county in 1991. The boys remains were found. Investigators reopened the case. She faces a possible life sentence. A judge increased bail to 100,000 to try to keep a bucks county man in jail now that hes charged with groping girls in College Dorms in mercer county. And we learned the investigation stretches from our area all the way to wyoming. John cann of leavitttown was accused of breaking into campus. Canon submitted dna in a Pretrial Program for another arrest for a burglary. Thats when investigators linked him to a sorority break in. Im pretty shocked. It does kind of scare me a little bit that can happen to me or anyone else. If he makes bail please barred from being on any college campus. Today, investigators will try to determine what caused two septa trolleys to collide in west philadelphia. More than 30 people were hurt in a crash on lancaster avenue near 30th street yesterday afternoon. All the injuries were minor. One rear ended the other. Passengers described the scary moment. One of those things where you want to slam on the brakes yourself. Before we knew it its like a bomb went off. It really hit us so hard it just knocked everybody on the floor. Septa said the trolleys should have been running ten minutes apart. The Transit Agency will try and figure out why they were so close to one another. You can see right now, Police Activity blocking off part of the westbound side. All traffic is diverted off the ramp just before the closure begins. That will be another 20 to 25 minutes or so. Watching the schuylkill expressway theres a disabled vehicle on the westbound side just approaching conshohocken. You can see it not affecting drive times right now. The cloud are not far, but its going to be light snow and accumulating. Its cold enough and its going to stay frozen on the ground. Were going to see the first thing tomorrow morning. And we could see an inch of snow on the ground in wilmington and westchester by 9 00 this evening. The late evening hours, overnight, midnight, 1 to 2 inches of snow possible. Were just a few days into philadelphias new soda tax. Some restaurants say theyre feeling the impact. The owner is so frustrated with the tax hes no longer selling soda. And union taco in manayunk said he noticed while making Energy Drinks while placing the order with his distributor. Rep let me know that the service tax went into effect. Immediately, i was like, no, were not going to order that. Tax money will bring in a projected 92 million in five years. About 60 million of that will go to universal prek. The remainder will be split between schools, parks, recreations, libraries and a tax for businesses that offer healthier beverages. And the north philadelphia school, nbc10 was there. That number is coming down in a hurry. When we went on the air, it was at 32 degrees. Its falling now but we will see the temperatures climb.
