Kicking off the race. A live look at the starting line on the ben franklin parkway. It could be worse, though. Its cold. But at least its not snoeg. Theres no sleet out there this morning. Thats what some neighbors across the region saw last night. Meteorologist krystal klei is tracking all these changes for us. Krystal . Yeah, and thank goodness. We saw the timing change of it. Earlier on in the week, models were trying to push this out this morning then it started to look like it would happen overnight. We adjusted the forecast and it was on point with timing. We saw the showers, the rain snow mix move through and as expected it turned to snow further north parts of our viewing area. Now, its all about the temperatures out there. Because, it is cold. So we just saw this map a second ago. Heres the closer look at what it feels like outside because of the high winds, and the cold air in place behind that front that passed us overnight. 14 is what it feels like in mount pocono where they did see snow throughout the night. 26 in pottstown and 30 for philadelphia. Millville at 29 and the same for atlantic city. On top of that, while some areas are actually seeing clouds break apart including philadelphia, looking at the next round of thicker cloud coverage and isolated snow showers tracking just to the north of us. Thats something well be watching as we move through today. Were going to track those wind speeds and how that affects the forecast coming up in just a few moments. Of course were in center city right now. But this race will go through old city into manayunk where the finish line will bring them back into center city by the art museum. Were told that more than 20,000 runners between yesterday, the half marathon, and today are signed up for this race. We talked to a number of runners who say they trand for it all year in the summer, in the rain, and there was no way they were going to miss the race today. Even though it is a little colder than they anticipated, and a lot winder than they would prefer. Their back this morning. But again, runners have already taken their mark, two hours for this race. What were looking at is winds are from time to time really hitting the area. This is the entire region that were looking at these strong winds that are moving throughout. Again, its not a consistent strong wind but these high gusts that were noticing. Overall, though, some windyness in the forecast throughout the entire day. 20 to 30mileperhour winds. Gusts 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour by this afternoon. As a result, temperatures feel a lot cooler than they actually are. This morning, some of us should feel like were in about the mid, upper 20s through the morning hours. By the afternoon, temperatures will make their way into the mid 40s. But look at your feelslike temperatures. The mid 30s. Thats again because of how high these winds are. When you have high windist going to affect what it feels like outside on your skin. Saturday would be warmer than average and then today way below average. High of 72 yesterday. So if you stepped out say later in the day, maybe did something indoors, went to a movie, a sporting event and then you stepped out once the colder air moved in, oh, what a difference it was. And our own glen noticed the difference. At the sixers game, 62 when i went in, 35 chill to 20 when i leave. Wow. Yeah, wow is the description right of what we felt stepping out the door. If you have maybe some photos of snow that you saw, then you can tweet us krystal klei. Were looking at conditions very cool today as a result of the changes we started to see move in last night. We called for this. We said it would be the suburbs through the lehigh valley, berks county that would see the rainslow mix. Then more of a sleeting to rain situation further south. Temperatures in the mid 30s this morning. That doesnt sound too bad. Ed winds are very high which makes it feel very colder. Right now, i think a shout out to west town township. Last night someone sent in a picture of snow on the ground and said, it was warm earlier. It was warm earlier in the day yesterday. No longer the case. Mid 30s spread across the map, bedminster at 36. Milford township at 34 degrees. Again it feels even cooler. And its all because of these wind gusts. So high winds are certainly something well be tracking in the forecast. Radar and satellite, the wide view here, pretty big system that we have our eye on. Were kind of the little dry spot versus most of the surrounding territory. If we do miss we can notice this wedge of clearing skies. Some sun is peeking through. But also now on our radar we are picking up some very light snow, maybe making it to the ground in the northernmost part of our viewing zone. This is going to continue through the morning and early afternoon. Isolated spot snow showers are possible but this will be very spotty, shortlived and likely not stick to any surfaces. Heres your neighborhood forecast. Temperatures in the mid 40s out there with cloudy conditions, lansdale at 44. Allentown at 43 degrees. And we will continue with those mid 40s right across the map. The shore just a little bit warmer, with some sunshine again peeking out. Lets talk tenday forecast. As we go along, the forecast doesnt get much better. 45, the high for today. 46 monday. The elite runners took off at the top of the hour. There are a lot of road closures throughout the city because of the marathon. We have them all on the nbc 10 app. This afternoon the eagles will take on the seahawks and their noisy fans, thanks to the stadium out there. Later on today, its the northeast philadelphia tradition. The manual mayfair holmesburg thanksgiving parade. This years theme, 30 years of memories the parade begins at noon. Now your nbc 10 first alert weather. And take a look at the camera behind you. In the poconos, weve got some snow on the camera here, guys. We are looking at round two. Overnight as expected, we saw those snow showers in some areas, the rain snow mix in other areas, and the rain further south thats what we expected. Now some lingering activity on the backside of the system. Check out your radar and satellite. This is a little tighter view of the snow were seeing just to the north of our viewing zone, as well as just a very isolated path trying to track along through moving into right now parts of upper bucks county. What were looking at here is not a lot of snow by any means. But some very isolated spots, may make their way mostly to the northern parts of our viewing. Berks county, lehigh valley, nor hampton county, bucks, montgomery, maybe chester county, as well. And then most of us should break apart or shift over to more of a rain forecast. Very isolated at best through your morning and early afternoon. But notice, we do still have a good amount of snow moving through pennsylvania. The wraparound system is moving in our direction although it looks like a lot will break apart before doing anything considerable in our zone. What it means is youre waking up to Clear Conditions with sunshine as you see on that radar shot. Thats not going to continue the whole day. Were going to see more clouds move in. And the winds are going to strengthen, as well. On your hour by hour forecast the model year is showing off the snow thats in pennsylvania but its actually showing it a little too far off to the west. Which is why i think its missing the mark on spot snow showers making their way again to the northern half, maybe right around philadelphia, throughout our morning hours. But it does show some of those spot snow showers clipping along here at 11 30 a. M. We continue, around the poconos until 6 00 tonight and even into the overnight as well through to your monday. So were not looking at anything considerable here. A couple inches of snow overnight around the poconos. And again, for most of us if anything its going to be just a little dusting and melting by the time it hits the surface. Ground is too warm. Yesterday temperatures in the 70s over parts of philadelphia, here is your forecast yesterday, 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour from the west. Gusts by this afternoon, 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour. And take a look at the temperatures, only making it to the mid 40s with a lot of cloudiness. And feelslike temperatures that are in the 30s. Thats going to be the same for your monday. Well talk tenday forecast coming up. Transitioning to the Trump Administration. The process is well under way. But, how smoothly is it going for president elect donald trump . Thats all ahead this morning on nbcs meet the press. Joining us now for a preview is moderator of meet the press, chuck todd. Good morning, chuck. Good morning, rosemary. So we learn this week that rnc chairman Reince Priebus, a guest of yours today, will be the new white house chief of staff. President elect trump met with mitt romney yesterday todays Chris Christie and Rudy Giuliani. What have you learned about their job prospects in a Trump Administration . Well, look, heres what i can tell you on mitt romney and donald trump. The meeting went well. It was mostly focused on International Hot spots. A tour of the world conversation. Trump and romney did have 15 minutes without advisers, just the two of them alone. But i was also told that hey, look, Rudy Giuliani could still be thought of, or portrayed by the by us, essentially, based on trump conversations, as the frontrunner for secretary of state. And i think that will be the test here. I think so far, donald trump has reached out to critics like mitt romney, has met with some democrats, but when hes made appointments so far theyve all gone to loyalists. I think the question is going to be will he actually be comfortable appointing somebody who was a critic. And, Rudy Giuliani versus mitt romney if that truly are the two finalists for secretary of state, thats the ultimate test in the direction that he wants to go. Does he go with somebody whos with him through thick and thin like Rudy Giuliani . On somebody like mitt romney which would send a broader message of trying to unite the Republican Party but it was somebody who does not share Donald Trumps world view and was a big critic. Chuck, also today youre sitting down with senators Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer to talk about how the democrats regroup. Is sanders message one that drew so many people in during the campaign one that will shape and dominate the future of the party . I think so. I think the way to describe Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders is Chuck Schumer is the operational leader of the Democratic Party and Bernie Sanders may be the spiritual leader of the Democratic Party. When you look at fingers and look at the success of trump in the upper midwest it almost mirrored what he did in wisconsin and michigan against clinton and almost mirrored the success that sanders had in wisconsin and michigan against hillary clinton, and i have a i went i spend a little bit of time in michigan and talked to voters who told me that they think a bunch of they know plenty of sanders supporters who decided not to even bother to vote in the general because they werent clinton fans. So i think theres definitely something there about sanders sort of having a better understanding of those voters in the upper midwest than clinton today. Chuck todd, moderator of meet the press.
