Guitar lesson yesterday and a special report came on. I listened to it. You just stop in your tracks. Certain things surprise you and he had no illnesses that we knew of. A little mention that he had gone back to rehab for fine tuning of his sobriety recently. We knew he battled that forever. We interviewed him several times. Talk about universally beloved. That is what he was. I dont think he had an enemy on earth. And beloved through generations. I remember sitting at the table almost like a wave of people learning about the news. Younger people were talking about aladdin and things like that. I was thinking i loved him in all of his comedic roles like mrs. Doubtfire but something about the dramatic roles. One of my alltime favorites was dead poets society. It made you believe in writing. He was so transformative. I thought he deserved the oscar for that one. He won only one for good will hunting. They are saying that the cause is suspected suicide by asphyxiation. There will be more to come on that. An autopsy being done today. The despair that someone has to be in to make that choice. Philip Philip Seymour hoffman we think was an overdose. To choose to end your life. He won oscars. He had family that he loved. The last instagram was a picture with his daughter. It was her birthday and he used an old picture. He had three great kids, was married. He had a career that was still continuing. He has four movies still to be coming out later. It wasnt as if someone was saying what ever happened to robin williams. I love what matt did earlier about how we remember him as the guy that would come in and a lot of people come to sell their movie or book or whatever and they are in and out. Most people are polite. He literally did make it he did standup everywhere he went. He met the crew members. He was so gracious to everybody. I hated to see him leave the room. He is very bow legged. There is such a profound sense of sadness when he would leave because he is so joyful. Gary marshall said he could make everyone happy but himself. Steve martin said i cannot be more stunned by the loss of robin williams. The think is a lot of people come and do business and sell their movie and leave. He would stay and greet the crowd. He enjoyed people. He liked being around them. Maybe that is when he wasnt battling his demons. If you want to laugh my favorite i think of all of his is the bird cage. That is great. It is just genius. Mrs. Doubtfire. We heard rumors they are going to be doing a sequel to that. Our love to his family. Moving on we have a couple of other items to get to. I dont know if you are aware of this, but half of the people out there do not know their neighbors. They couldnt pick them out of a lineup because they are busy in their own lives doing their own thing. We wanted to know if the era of the neighborhood is over. We are the post human society. We are more for the first time in all of history, more comfortable with technology than with actual human beings. That does not bode well for the future. This doesnt either. When i was a kid we knew every neighbor. Schneiders. We knew all the way up and down the street. Now it is like who is that . You live in an Apartment Building now. I know all of our neighbors. We have a small community. When Hurricane Sandy hit i just got rid of a couple of them. I loved raising our kids that way, too, so they knew the neighbors. A couple of times a year we do a cleanup of our street. You guys do have a great little community. We do. He said i didnt know that. Number two, we are on the wrong side of this issue and then he said im going to do something about that. I left that night thinking yeah right. We always treated each other like we are this unit and this team. It does feel different to be married but we always treated each other that way anyway. We did have a few conversations about it and the timing just wasnt right. It is crazy how timing really is everything and how it changes so much. Did it you got married, does it change your relationship with your sisters and family . Now you have your own family unit. You are together. Did it affect it . It does. I think in a really good way but we all its like, it seems like kourtney and scott are so solid. It feels like i have my own family now. And i think i have i have always had my family as my family. It has always been that way through other relationships but this is different. I cant believe you all lived with kris all this time. That is bizarre to me. We do have another we have always had kanyes home that we never sold. We never moved into it. We are making it a fun project of redoing it and flipping it. I bought that when i was single. Your needs change as you have a baby. So we wanted something bigger and more spacious and more private. How is that baby . Every time a picture pops up what is motherhood like . Last night i was so tired. I had to get up at 4 00 in the morning. She is on a different schedule. I was sitting there dozing off. We both passed out on top of each other. It is the best feeling in the world. I was so scared when i was pregnant. You had a tough one, too. It was such a hard pregnancy. It has been so worth it and more. Do you think that baby is going to like the spotlight . I dont know. Every time there is a camera out and paparazzi taking pictures i do a lot of things indoors and just in privateigated communities and things and figure out where to keep her as private as possible. When there are times when we are going to the airport or places where i cant really shield her she does like this mean angry kanye face or a pose. I cant tell which one it is. She will be cracking up and the second the camera comes on she does you have a selfie book coming out. It is called selfish. Why is it taking until april . I needed to get the best collection of all of my selfies. I always say it takes about 15 to 20 selfies to get the one. That is what you are doing wrong. I took this one in a white bathing suit right after i had the baby from the back. It took about 20 pictures to get the one. You will see the buildup. Good luck to your family. Thank you. Im not playing a different guy every week. Just kind of making a very believable character. You lose who you are, your real identity. I am playing somebody who doesnt know who they are. Finding a job you love in your golden years. Some advice for working after retirement. First this is today on nbc. So much of our working lives we cant wait to retire but when the time comes we dont know what to do with ourselves. New study from Merrill Lynch show more than half plan to work during retirement. We have jobs that may be perfect for you. Here to tell you about all of that is tom gimball president and ceo of lasalle network. You know why we like you . Why . We like you because you actually have real answers for people. You really do help them. There are areas you are probably more able to find a job. The number one thing is lets eliminate the word retirement. People are not retiring. They are retiring from a job and not the workforce. They have to eliminate that word. If you work your whole life for one company and get the gold watch and retire. People dont have the money they used to. Some people do age out. You want to continue working. What are things that some people want to do, jobs where there are opportunities for people . They have to look at areas that are in need of people. Health care, nonprofits and even the government at times will hire in certain sectors. A lot of medical, a lot of things that have the word assisted following it because you dont need certifications or special degrees. You say book keeper, executive assistant. For those jobs what do you need to do that . I think you need a great attitude and need patience. Somebody might not be able to say i want to hire this person as an executive assistance. It is all comparison. If you had a job in logistics or transportation or hospitality you might be able to transition into an asissant role. It keeps the income coming in. Are they looking for younger people . I think they are looking for good people. I have a lot of companies we work with where the ceo Senior Level Management Team want to get people who are matured and focused to outweigh some of the millennial generationtype people. Home health care, child care. There is a lot of inhome daycare. You need a license for that. You need a license for out of home daycare and to run a daycare. To be a nanny, neighborhood nannies you are talking about not knowing your neighbors. Know your neighbors can help you get a job and also employ you. You say work for a former employer. A lot of times people want to check that box off and say im never going back there again. The fact of the matter is sometimes those people say i need somebody with your skill set. We have a sixmonth project it would be great to have you come in. You are not going to be looking to get promoted. All the more reason not to burn bridges along the way. Should you get on linked in. A lot of people put their profile up. A lot of people who dont have big jobs dont have a linked in profile. Have it on there. Dont focus on 30 years im here to help.
