They know whats going on and when they hear the sirens they get really scared because they now associate the sirens with the fires. Now police say the suspect appears to be targeting homes that are under construction or being renovated. Distributing charges air Traffic Controller on long island 52yearold during a traffic stop last night. Investigators say peck confessed to carrying two loaded guns without a permit and crystal meth in his pants. He works as a controller in west bury due in court later today. Briefly closed this morning because of pie suspicious package. Chopper 2 was over the scene and a transit bus was stopped after a passenger reported a suspicious package on board. Passengers were moved to another bus. All traffic was stopped during that investigation. The package was determined to be safe. The search is on for two suspects wanted for an Armed Robbery on the upper west side. Its the fourth mugging around or in the park this week alone. Its not a crime you upper west side. Early this morning around 3 20 press say a 33yearold man was held up at gunpoint and robbed at west 70th street and central park west. Investigators say two suspects got away with the victims phone, money and jordan sneakers. As cops searched the area we saw a shoeless man get into the back of a squad car. Reaction from people who live nearby was mixed. My husband said better be careful in central park. It does make me concerned but not so concerned im going to change anything. To be honest i dont feel 100 safe. Both male suspects are hispanic the first 5foot 10 wearing timberland boots a black north face jacket and black jeans. Suspect two is 5foot 8 stocky with braided hair a black jacket and blue jeans. There have been three other muggings in and near central park this week. Mornings Armed Robbery is connected to those. Those other crimes took place late monday night into Tuesday Morning at west 95th street and west drive, west 91st street near the reservoir and a few blocks outside the park on east 86th street. No one was seriously injured. Police are searching for a group of teens. Residents who go to the park in the dark say they are vigilent. 9 at night is the latest.
