Niagara falls is the oldest state park, but visiting it never gets old. The readers of a National Newspaper voted letchworth the 1 state park in america. Watkins glen, 3. New york state parks are a gift. Plan your vacation at iloveny. Com. Lets start things off with the jets. You know after the 2 0 start everyone was singing their praises. Today we started to see some warts. The jets showed how much they need to improve. Since 1973 theyre 010 lifetime against the philadelphia eagles. Only franchise in the nfl they havent beaten. Darren sproles is a pretty tough guy to find at 56. Hes also a hard guy to catch. 89yard punt return. Its 100 but new york won in most statistical battles. They actually lead the league in takeaways at 10, but they Brandon Marshall called this a bone head play. Philly flipped that in to a 24point lead and maybe the jets asked Ryan Fitzpatrick to do a little too much, especially without the comforts of chris ivory and eric decker both out with injuries. Fitz attempted 58 passes and was picked off two times. Two come in the 4th when they were down by 10 points. New york picks up their first loss of the season, 2417. We both know you cant make that play. He understands. We cant have those type of plays during the game. Cant do it. Wrong time to gamble. I was pressing trying to make a play but cant do that. Probably worst play in the nfl history. Winning formula for us is not going to be turning the ball over and throwing it 58 times. I think we know that. So weve got to play a better game, a smarter game. Turnovers, thats certainly not something weve come to familiarize ourselves with the jets this year. Like i said, four turnovers is hard to overcome. Last week it was just the opposite. This week it was something hard to overcome. It may be a small sample size here but weve come to recognize the todd bowles jets as a discipline team, one that doesnt shoot themselves in the foot. Today we saw turnovers, missed assignments, missed tackles, penalties. I asked Kristian Dyer about the selfinflicted wounds. Limiting turnovers, creating five, being able to go out there run the ball effectively, systemically run the ball down the field, to what we saw today, four turnovers, only one created, minus 3 differential. Now youre beginning to wonder what is the identity of this team . Does he have a firm grasp of what he wants to do, where he wants his team to go . No eric decker, no chris ivory, some of and the jets stuck with the same game plan, not utilizing the personnel they had in place. No doubt this team sputtered on offense. Nobody really filled the void of eric decker. Nobody filled the void of the loss of chris ivory. Which one was worse for this team . 47 yards rushing for a team that was one of the best in the league. Chris ivory hurt this team an awful lot, not being able to go out there, not being able to run the ball between the tackles like they used to. I know theyre not the ground and pound team anymore but their identity through the first two games of the year was running the ball. All of the sudden youre starting to think maybe this offense needs Stevan Ridley back sooner than later. Here to talk about the jets and all things new york sports, a man we welcome in every month. You can hear him every night on cbs sports radio, the host of the d. A. Show Damon Amendolara joining us. Good to see you once again. Always good to see you, steveo. What do we got on the docket we have the jets, and amazingly theyre not going to go undefeated this year . Amazingly. I had them pegged for 160. Our fingers crossed. Unfortunately it will have to be are you surprised what we saw out of the jets today . I think there was going to be the natural coming back down to earth for wins. I think the jets are an improved team from last year, no as you alluded to, this is supposed to be a disciplined team under todd bowles, not the nonsense we saw over the last couple years under rex. Today was the opposite but you cited the passes attempted by Ryan Fitzpatrick. You will not win a Football Game giving Ryan Fitzpatrick and that burly beard 16 passes. By the way, the beard with spacial reasoning with that helmet, i dont understand how that works for a quarterback. He should be out on the open seas fishing or something. Its impossible for him to put the chinstrap on. Hes a smart guy. He went to harvard. Get rid of the beard, dude. At least its not like the mark sanchez 70 passes he had about four or five years ago. So this is Ryan Fitzpatrick, by the way, weve seen the best and worst of how many more of these bad Ryan Fitzpatrick games can he endure before we start thinking maybe geno . There is a good Ryan Fitzpatrick, the one we saw in the first two weeks where you dont ask him to do too much. Then theres the bad one like the ryan pick patrick. Thats youve got to give him a couple more games because geno smith is not just a better quarterback in this offense. The giants, weve talked about this. Theyre just a few plays away from being 30, but again they have praubss closing they have problems closing out games. They lack that killer instinct. How much of that has to fall on the shoulders of their coach tom coughlin . It has to. And we all respect tom coughlin. I know that organization loves him. But im sorry, if youre the head coach and there is time and time again where your team lacks the mental fortitude, the discipline, the focus to finish games in the 4th quarter, that has to fall on you, and hes won championships and hes always going to have a place, but im sorry, the first two weeks of the giants season looked a lot like a number of games weve seen over the last three, four years. Lets move forward here real quick. Next six games. Bills, 9ers, eagles , cowboys, saints, bucs. I know. One week at a time. But when you see how the schedule stacks up what do we expect to see out of the giants . If they hit the midway point of the season at 44, thats a success after starting out 02. If they can find another three wins before the end of the first half of the season, and put themselves in play, for at least being competitive in the division therist the rest of the way, thats a win. I was out of the game the entire day. I didnt see this nationals fight till i got back and saw the video. Its a good one. Is this just the frustration of the season for these guys . Crazy eyes Jonathan Papelbon which anybody knows, he just wants to choke you out. I used to cover the red sox in boston. I go in to that clubhouse, this dude is just absolutely insane. Stay away from me, man. Hes attacking the franchise here. The franchise and the National League mvp. Oh, my goodness. Dude look in the mirror. The rest of the team should choke you out. He might not make it out of detc. Out of dc. So terry call so Terry Collins said the fourth spot will be max or Bartolo Colon. Which one is better for the pen . I think max is better for the pen but i think max is going to be the starter. I dont think the effectiveness of Bartolo Colon comes through in an inning or a batter. I think and starts. I think for max, a little bit more of a fireballer, younger, liver arm. Id trust him in the pen more, but i dont think thats the way tc goes. We know theyre going to be facing the dodgers. That means Clayton Kershaw, many people compare him to like Peyton Manning who is fantastic in the regular season but in the postseason he falls apart. Is the pressure really on kershaw . It absolutely is and i love Clayton Kershaw and i dont think all of his problems in the postseason have been his and his alone. They havent given him great offensive support. Theres no doubt the guy is going to go down in history as we know as one of the greatest pitchers of the generation. If he doesnt get anything done in october, whats it going to mean . Commissioner rob manford said he met with pete rose and hes going to make a decision on pete rose by the end of the year. Pete is 74. Is this really the last chance for him to get in to the hall . Its close. I dont think its the last gasp. I think as time goes on things will soften more and more for pete in the public consciousness. Lets say five, 10 years from now is there going to be another commissioner at that time though . Dont want to do things posthumously. You want to try to get it done when the guy is alive. Every month we bring you in for predictions and last month questions were how many touchdowns would your fantasy football runner have . He had zero coming in to today and 3 today. So you got that one. Would you have more eli touchdowns or Ryan Fitzpatrick interceptions . Eli has four touchdowns with the three picks today, fitz has 5. So you said eli though so you missed on that. I know but i feel good that if i had to lose it was in an avalanche of Ryan Fitzpatrick interceptions on the day of this. You said serena would win the grand slam. She did not. So here we go. Next time we see you, the world series would have started. Whos going to be your lock . I dont think there is a lock. Give me the blue jays if there is one. Seven teams are undefeated in the nfl right now
