Reporter a woman in her 30s is hospitalized in critical condition, after a car jumped the curb, and struck this store. In this store Surveillance Video you see people walking on east tremont avenue some picking out produce from a sidewalk stand when right here a care barrels in, on the lower right of the screen, you can see the crunch of the vehicle that slammed the wall. Merchandise and debris flew. As people ran for their lives. But two people you dont see here, could not get out of the way fast enough. One shopper was hit with debris and has minor injuries but a woman is critically injured after getting pinned between the car and the wall of the store. You could see the hubcap of the car. And with the gas there. She was pinned under that top. I saw the lady, she was stuck up under the car. It is unknown what caused the 68yearold driver to lose control of the vehicle. He stayed with the car and waited for police to arrive. And when they did, he was taken into custody. He was being questioned at the precinct stationhouse, when his car was finally towed away from the store. Allowing these workers to get in and start making repairs. The storm is centered over eastern cuba right now and tomorrow, florida could get hit with heavy rain. We will have more on the storms path in a few minutes. 10 years ago today, Hurricane Katrina hit the shore of the gulf coast devastating new orleans and other parts, before and after photos showed some of the destruction at the super dome after the storm hit land fall. Jersey City Residents got to observe some incredible sights and sounds today as a local housing complex was leveled by an implosion. Ilana gold has the latest. Reporter this implosion rocked the city at 9 00 this morning when three buildings from the housing complex got leveled in a matter of seconds. You could hear it from miles away. And feel the ground shake. It is a very surreal feeling for me and i know a lot of other people as well. Reporter including anthony mcknight, the building he grew up in is now demolished. How did you feel seeing this . It was a little like watching history go down. A little saddened. A little emotional. Reporter the city relocated hundreds of tenants from this location, at montgomery and mar sells streets in 2013 and plans to build a new housing community. These rendering show what it will look like. The project includes affordable low income and market rate homes with more than 120 units. Mayor Steven Philip says this new design is an important step to making this area safer. Any time that you have a high rise, low income housing, there tend to be a concentration of crime. It is very difficult to police. Mixed income projects, are better suited for everybody. And while he has been focusing on revitalization by the waterfront, todays effort is his way of creating a stronger economy, inland. It will take some time to clean up all of there rubble. Bridgeport and islip. Of course, we are talking about the remnants of erika. So this is where the area of low pressure is right now. The center of circulation. We are looking at it over eastern cuba and rain across cuba and heavy rain as we head into south florida. We are going to really keep an eye on that rain, definitely some flooding concerns there. Back here at home, things are completely dry for us right now. And thanks to some higher pressure. But we are about to get a bit of a change. Here is the high pressure, just offshore and circulation around it. Tapping into warmer air. Here is the setup for us. We are about to get some significantly warmer air in advance of a cold front. So we are mild and quiet tonight. Not bad. Nearly gorgeous summer night out there. As we head into the day tomorrow, the temperature and the humidity on the rise. So get ready for that. And makes for a good beach day, i think. I dont think we will have too many complaints there. As we head into monday and people have to go back to work, it is a steamy start to the workweek, we are talking hazy, hot and humid and could he be at the beginning of another heat wave. It is a possibility believe it or not. Tomorrow, more clouds and more humidity and 89 degrees the forecast high for your sunday. And slight chance of seeing some showers north and west. A better chance though as we head into later in the week. If youre headed to the beaches tomorrow, the temperature is 83 to 87 degrees. We have a moderate risk of rip currents. That ocean temperature, not bad at all. And i mentioned a chance for a heat wave. We will check it out. At 89 degrees tomorrow. And things are starting to get humid. As we head to monday, as i mentioned, it is hazy, and it is hot and humid. And 92 degrees. We hope to do that again on tuesday. So it is going to be really sticky. And sort of sizzling start there.
