After a day off from talks, leaders representing the 11 rail unions and new Jersey Transit will meet in person. The unions have been operating withouts new contract or raise since 2011. About 105,000 people rely on the transit trains daily and Railroad Officials are already warning that if the strike happens their contingency plan will be able to help out about 40,000 of the riders affected. And we will not be able to provide the level of service or capacity that our rail Service Currently provides to our customers. Reporter they plan to trains, lightrails and Ferry Service, heavily relying on park and rides. Still, car traffic getting into the city could be disastrous. And were talking about miles. Reporter some new jersey towns have come up with contingency know of their own, intending to have the vans shuttle residents to newark train stations to take path trains into the city. Even that could be limited. And we dont have enough capacity to handle our own residents, so were going to limit it to that and proof of residency will be required. The right now, that strike deadline is midnight saturday into sunday. If the strike happens, new Jersey Transit plans to gradually scale down Service Starting on sunday. That transit strike deadline is just three days away but were hearing the unions are thinking about postponing the deadline and hoping to avoid a commuting nightmare. Reporter commuters hoping todays facetoface negotiations could be the difference that will ensure the trains will keep rung. After a day off from talks, leaders representing the 11 rail unions and new Jersey Transit will meet in person. They have been operating without a new contract or raise since 2011. About 105,000 people rely on the transit trains daily and Railroad Officials are warning if the strike happens, their contingency plan will only be able to help out 40,000 riders who will be affected. And we wont be able to capacity that our rail Service Currently provides to our customers. Reporter they plan to increase bus service, path trains, lightrails and Ferry Service, heavily relying on park and rides. Still, car traffic getting into the city couldet be disastrous. And were talking about backups that could be as long as 23 miles. Reporter and some new jersey towns came up with contingency plans of their own, intending to have jitney vans shuttle residents to newark stations to take path trains into the city. Even that could be limited. And we dont have enough capacity to handle our own residents and so, we were going to limit it to that and proof of residency will be required. Reporter now, if that strike does go into affect at 12 01 sunday morning, new Jersey Transit said that they do have a plan to gradually stop service of all of the trains. And new incidents of a drug bust that led to a Police Officer being shot in brooklyn. The driver of the minivan is under arrest and a third suspect is in custody and being questioned. The video shows that undercovey police were chasing the suspects in a minivan tuesday night and the suspect tried to take off with the detective partially inside the vehicle. They opened fire and its suspected a bullet that hit the detective in the shoulder came from his partners gun. And Jersey City Police are interest wanted in a Sexual Assault case.
