Insinuating with our team coverage this somber message from the Bahamas tonight they mean Prime Minister Hubert minas and televised address to the people of his nation announced the death toll in wake in the wake of Hurricane Dorian has risen to 7 I want to do a show on and inform to be human population that they can expect more events to be recorded hurricane Dorian physically destroyed parts of the Bahamas while it was still a Category 5 now as many as millions of people evacuated from Florida to the Carolinas know as hurricane hunters are flying directly into the storm gathering more information that's how we get the updates every 3 hours we've been bringing to you all week but we have a microwave radiometer that looks you know if you know you can thank you actually measure how much energy you know coming out from the ocean. And that's translated into wind somebody once the storm moves past us Dorian is projected to hug the coast along the southeast in might make it all the way up to Newfoundland it's yet to see and it's sad that we have to report this already but hurricane Doreen scammers are already popping up our Taylor with the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance says con artists sometimes create phony websites and will send you links e-mail so they can fish your information just this week a Florida t.v. News 965 w. D.b.o. . Special live team coverage of Hurricane Dorian How will Dorian impact you know we're talking and listening to the experts and we want you to join the conversation 844220096 stay connected to our special team coverage of Hurricane Dorian starts now. Our team coverage continuing here on News on a 6.5 w. D.b.o. We are live in local at midnight ost 7 on September 1st a September 4th excuse me as hurricane Dorian makes its way along our coast we are here to keep you informed I am Kyle Cassandra alongside Nick Greiner waits and if you hear the 2 names that are normally on e.s.p.n. 5 any That must mean there is a hurricane somewhere. If the threatening one of our counties in this case. Have a Category 2 hurricane just off their coast right now. But luckily this storm is getting you to move away nor that's kept moving north of then it creeps west and then moves north of them moved east for a little while and now looks like it's moving north right now it's just about 80 miles off side outside of Patrick Air Force base according to this weather station I'm looking at right now you know give or take a few miles or so moving at 6 miles an hour so right now in the next couple of hours is where the worst of it's going to be and then the rest of the storm's out a lot of rain as I take a look at the interactive weather radar right now we have a feeder band moving to the west side of Orange County moving into Lake County right now everybody on the east side of Central Florida is that break they've got nothing and then you're going to pick it up as provocative Lucia start to get in that county line there and everybody on the coast is seeing rain so that's it right now nothing really to warn you about just yet so already go live I want to hear from you 844-220-0965 if you're over on the coast what are you seeing what are you hearing and looking at any flooding going on to keep the information flow and I know we have a lot of latest power outage report that mean Jeanne Freemont over there in the control room is going to give us an update here right before we get we wanted to get one before we went on the air but we don't have one just yet but oh we'll keep you up to date on the power outages going on in before Volusia County and over far that number is climbing a little bit Loucheux we don't have one yet but orange seminal Osceola you guys are going to be in a really good shape and Nick's got the. I outside really it's like any other rain on Wednesday night over here in Orlando I want to know what's going on over on the coast so I figured let's go talk to the other sports guy in the company Cox Media Group Christian Brewer who has been our New Smyrna Beach Christian I saw you we were getting prepped and ready to do the show and are you still in the water out a New Smyrna Beach. Let me hit the button again let's try that again Christian I'm sorry about that who Yasser the sports guys were in the wrong studio yes we are wrong sorry about that Chris it's not going to do that but yeah so we're actually done for the night so our home base is a Holiday Inn in Orange City because they don't want us to be too close to what was the com Well obviously they put the hotel rooms days and days ago because we didn't you know we thought what Dorian was going to be here a few days ago so that's where we're at right now but it was when do you know it was ready and that its outer bands were hitting pretty good news for the beach but obviously not as bad as it could have been so I think everyone for the time being feels pretty lucky Was there anybody out there at this time of night I mean I saw a lot of people out there during the day and I'm going why and then I just somebody is going to be out there in the midnight trying to surf in the middle of the dark and just not going to get Yeah I think luckily I think everyone's kind of heeding the warnings and as the sun has gone down I think everyone's out there to kind of try and see the waves with the sun up and see possibly some of those waves coming crashing up against some of the buildings or whatnot but ever since the sun went down we didn't see anyone and the only cars we saw out news are going to be junk like we'll ever knew was a couple of cop cars and they closed down the north and south causeways would take you out to New Smyrna Beach so there was no way for anyone to come or go so if they were beach side and they were going to ride it out they're going to ride it out for the rest of the night as during goes up along the East Coast of Florida they closed down a couple of other bridges in Volusia County the Granada bridge in Ormond Beach and also the Dunlop bridge that connects Port Orange and Daytona Beach Shores So those are all closed and you know if you're right in that you're right no doubt but they did have a curfew in place and most of the people that we didn't see anyone out there New Smyrna Beach near the house fax was overflowing at yet or is it. Yeah we were at the Halifax earlier the night kind of early evening and we saw it was coming up it was close and that was one of the things we want to keep an eye on we heard from all of our meteorologist to Channel 9 about the storm surge 2 you know I had last night when they were looking at 5 to 7 the. Kind of went back down maybe 4 to 6 feet so there were some people we spoke to that were on. The west side of the Halifax River and you know they were concerned some of the people you know we saw like 3 or 4 sandbags stacked up in front of their front doors on some of those low lying areas and those are the areas that the the emergency management folks said to evacuate from it wasn't just beach side beach side some of those r.v. Parks in the low lying areas so it looked as though most people were out of those or if they were going to stay they had done a lot to get their place ready with sandbags One guy told me he put plywood in his doors and silicone to the edges to make sure that they would be sealed so they were taken all the precautions I got to ask you this question. Do you have your anemometer with you right now. Yes I have in my pocket right now what did you really buy that on Amazon for this particular assignment. No we actually were we got those. Erma was coming and I don't think everyone had them for Matthew but we bought them on Amazon. When herbal was coming through the next store so why did I tell you this it needed a new battery and I didn't realize until I got out of the coast and we were in Daytona Beach Shores yesterday and like snuck under them closing the doors big gates on the front of the publics and luckily they had some of those weird circular result batteries at the publics out there so dropped about 398 for 3 volt batteries for my anemometer it came in handy use a couple different live shots but the highest number I got tonight in New Smyrna Beach was about 30 sustained winds of about 30 miles an hour we didn't get anything to much higher than that I got jealous I wanted to go out on the side of the beach and play with one of those things those looked awesome Yeah you know I when we 1st got him I think we were just like Joe and I were back in the sports apartment just like trying to see how hard we could blow but you know that's just what you have to do I think Joe had the stronger lungs than me had the hotter air Ok That's good yes you got that yeah that's good yeah the hotter taken the hotter it. Is now I know the answer that question so now I want to get one of those to figure out which one between you and I has the water I think that's going to be a video that. Will do that will put it on a Carolina face to face her should really thank you so much for joining us out there in New Smyrna Beach we appreciate you dropping in tonight at 1215 and we'll see it tomorrow on Channel 9 body guy will do thanks guys are from New Smyrna Beach to Congo I believe Ken Tindall is out there for challenge Ken you're on here with colonic here and I believe you are experiencing the heavy winds and rains right now on their own talk of yeah Kyle and Nikki football Hi good evening good morning. We're actually at Cape Canaveral of the beach here and yeah we've had a lot of heavy wind and rain I'm just up on the boardwalk just stop the beach the high tide is coming in at this hour we've already seen some beach erosion here along the coast of regard County just earlier I was looking at a ridge of about a 2 foot drop off where the surface been come again strong and now the surface take it over that ridge and just it's approaching the dune line here at Cape Canaveral and we have any localized flooding where you are yet as a gun that bad I haven't seen that yet of course a big concern is that storm surge that could be a few feet we haven't seen any indication of a storm surge but I tell you if you could see these waves it's dark out here but we can see the waves the white caps scratching and as they turn over the wind catches them and just blows the top of the Whitecaps even more well the center of the I adore and right now is almost due east from out where you are miles off the coast right now so latest report if we're not seeing stiff candidacy and storm surge I believe this is going to be really good news for the for the duration of the night so any any other and here's or anybody out right now who was it was an activity for some Orlando people I know to drive over to the east coast and Lisi what some of the activity was did you get a chance to talk to anybody who did make that trip out yeah we did talk to some people from Orlando they were out they were curious they just want to see what it's like as well as a number of people locals who venture out to the beach Nobody's out here right now in fact law enforcement was just here checking to make sure there's nobody out here . There's no curfew here and regard County unlike some of the other counties along the coast but we are still under a hurricane warning so they're advising people really to stay inside this point. I can't handle w.f. T.v. Channel 9 out there can and they are you going to try to get back into that ridge at some point but I don't think we're watching here where t.v. You don't want to chance stepping in there but we want to see how deep the water is actually now well I tell you before the tide came in I was able to jump down off that ridge and that runs. Perpendicular to the the waves and it was just coming up there we were able to jump off and as the tide started coming in that ridge continued to erode and then the surf just took it over and washed out more of the sand it also came so high that it overtook one of the sea turtle that we're hoping for the best for those little guys so I guess you can't touch them right because they're protected from the big house right now that works well you're not supposed to touch him and they and they the officials tell us if you see some of them kind of caught you're supposed to leave them alone it's it's part of nature we do hope for the best for those little guys we saw. Their chance of survival once these hundreds of hatchlings do make it out of the sea their chance of survival is not great and nature in fact we saw one try to get to the surf in a seagull got it but that's just how it is but we all love sea turtles and and hope for the best for all of them tomorrow when I wake up on the look for Kenton is reporting a follow up on the Siegel. Turn of the turtles thanks so much for staying up with a with we appreciate it you bet any time cantonal out there on cocoa so that's what I'm going to look forward to tomorrow Ken's report on whether if the the sea turtles made it and it was like a segment out of planet Earth or something like that that's what we're doing right now and on top you have t.v. Was giving us the latest of course I really want to can tell now that ridge he didn't know he did not want to go I don't want to do it at night either I mean it's dark out he has one flashlight he's just trying to do his job and. Ken is keeping it safe I'm just glad it looks like all the slaves data is that Dorian is going to stay off our coast and what we're experiencing right now and county it may get a little bit gusty here is we go on to definitely to see some more rain as the night goes on but for the most part this is the damage that we're going to see so hopefully all stays well but which helped him for both Christian and can in New Smyrna and cocoa and it didn't seem as if any flooding just yet storm surge wasn't that powerful get to cause any major damage so good news so far here to us yeah we're getting the outer bands of Hurricane Dorian right now but you and I have been monitoring this is every one has across the state and it felt what Wednesday Thursday of last week that this was really going to be a you know an ordeal of a head on collision with the Sunshine State and then hurricane Dorian parked over the Bahamas for you know 2 you know 2 days or so it's moving very slowly but as it is turned north and west and north and west it looks as if we are going to dodge the worst of it here and as both Christian and Ken said you know you're getting a lot of when you're getting some rain but no severe elements right now and we'll have to monitor that it's about 100 miles off the east coast of Cape Canaveral right now the latest report about 5 minutes ago or so the eye of the storm so it's starting to make its way past central Florida moving its way north so if you are you know at Cape Canaveral and you want to tell us what you're seeing you can definitely do that will give you a number here and also you know it seems as if you know the worst of it is is coming and going as we as we move on you are our eyes and our ears and we'd love to hear from you 844-220-0965 that is 844-220-0965 text machine is up and running as well 2123 to show a tech so it's a question here if you have something that you want to hear from the data standpoint curfews anything like that just Texas we are. Here we've got Jeanne Nick and I are here all night we're here to 4 am and soul you have t.v. Takes over and then Joe Kelly or Leno's Morning News at 5 am we'll beyond all throughout the morning and then tomorrow afternoon will do the quick recovery and then we'll be back to hopefully back to normal on Thursday and finally because it seems like a week ago Thursday we've been planning this thing to get aid 442200965 text 21232 right now we step away to get the 3 big things you need to know you know the 3 big things you need to know for Hurricane George 3 there were about 3000 flights have been canceled between yesterday and today as hurricane Dorian has been causing all the travelers including shutting down 5 airports in Florida. Hurricane Dorian has left parts of the Bahamas in the ruins officials announced that the official death toll has risen to 7 after the storm tore through the islands while it was still a Category 5. Hurricane Dorian pressing through central Florida winds and rain maybe calmer than expected definitely calmer than the coast under its hurricane warning but if the rain dies down it could mean that the next band is on its way hundreds of Floridians have lost power every hour since the 1st band made significant landfall after 8 pm. If I could to make the color code that looks like it's going to stay off shore if you look at Titusville look where the cape is Cape Canaveral Air Force Station it's just not going to reach it and that's where that outer eye wall where the tropical storm force and hurricane force winds right now. Stand pretty far off about 80 miles so looks like we're going to get spared from Dorian Finally after almost a week I can't remember a hurricane that has moved. This slowly for this long because Frances was very slow and Frances made landfall in Port St Lucie area at one mile an hour and it stayed there for a good 10 to 12 hours before it moved up into central Florida and then in north Florida but every other Jeanne was moving slow as well but Jeanne wasn't very and not Eugene for like what maybe no Hurricane Jeanne was like I got here on Earth . For you here. I don't think so what year was 2004 Yeah that was we got a month off school I was here for that I was in south Florida though oh Ok so we're in South Florida sunrise so yeah I mean it is a little bit north of that so it's more Port St Lucie County and North Palm Beach that got affected by Jeanne were you in South Florida for injure no I was in New Jersey for Andrew so you got to watch that on T.V.'s Yes it was like a movie for me that point no that's not good I do like that that Floridians they kind of their Florida experience is based upon how many hurricanes hit I got it is yes it's it's like the notches you know what I mean that they have or it's like well I've been through and through and I've been through Jeanne and I've been out you can people just start naming them and I'll tell you how many days I was it without power after all of those strong exact Well we'll just feel named Michael and Floyd and Irma you'll go through them all I mean Scott and as and I talk about it and Scott will just rattle like 30 names off and I'm like for I listened to the 54 World Series 5 World Series after Wilma on the radio because we didn't have power the cable in the Salai were all out and. The Fox Philly was still in wall to wall news coverage so we didn't actually get to see it so I had to listen to it on the radio that's my world series Hurricane Wilma came through South Florida know who I was Chicago White Sox Now that's why I thought surely there I know it's not because I blocked that one out there it was the White Sox Yeah it was it was the White Sox White Sox keep locked out of that she would have been I got us and blacked out I can try just a little bit I would tell George while they were coming out 5 minutes so right now we're going to postulates news weather and traffic a.b.c. And stay connected to our special team coverage of Hurricane. We are here taking your phone calls. 0965 You are our eyes and ears out there especially if you're over on the coast of Volusia County as a hurricane Dorian is right outside our front yard about 80 miles from the coast right now a Cape Canaveral. Pretty much do East at this point and we're seeing some outer wall actually in between the eye and land so a look says if as the rain continues to come into the area that's pretty much what we're seeing right now in our county if you are in Palm Bay Moe born Sebastian you're actually already beyond the eyes so if you're listening down the southern part of our county if you're in the northern part of our county Titusville you guys you see a little bit more right now as we take a look at the interactive weather radar George Wallenberg are from Severe Weather Center and I will be here in just a moment to give us the latest update. Look at Daytona Beach Ormond Beach you guys are getting some rain right now you have a little bit more to go tonight and fact one of the biggest feeder bands that has left the area is going over Daytona Beach Palm Coast Ormond Beach right now and moving into the into the Ocala National Forest and that of course is all moving to the south as it turns going into Dilana Deltona everybody in seminal orange Osceola you're just having a quiet night as of right now we've got some cedar bands are going to feed through the area but for the most part. It's just a regular old rainstorm for you guys right now so this could have been a lot worse especially with Saul all of the photos coming out of the Bahamas now right in with us and it looks like we're going to get very. Very lucky and just to have a very bad you know overnight and basically an experience where most of our Labor Day plans got canceled I mean I would say Central Florida was extremely lucky when you see what's coming out of the Bahamas right now and what happened down there with Dorian basically parking on top of the Bahamas had one mile an hour for a day and a half 2 days and if the worst thing we could all say is Well it kind of ruined Labor Day weekend then I think we're all extremely fortunate so yeah I think I think that's the main thing to take out of this but you mentioned Dorian's in you know outside of our front yards down by the curb or the stupor something at the very least so it's not 100 miles off the Cape Canaveral and hopefully this think keeps pushing east in and we just get some intermittent rain and winds and that's the worst of it for everybody if the front of the neighborhood base Yeah and then especially because it was a Category 5 if there was such a thing as a category 6 it would have been a category 6 I think it's Sunday was up to most 100 came of record is that is that when I tied to Labor Day of 1935 last time. I wasn't around Yeah I think we all remember they are nasty but you know. All he's asleep otherwise he'd be Oh it's been asleep for hours and it was a $185.00 sustained with $220.00 gusts and as thankful we are that this is going to miss us essentially with that eye wall I just feel terrible what has happened to the Bahamas and I think that everybody is going to be really looking to make a big impact down there try to help them and we'll have some information on that coming up tonight what I want to say right now is I saw a lot of things on social media earlier talking about hurricane relief for the Bahamas but got to be careful with that Sarte start to get some reports that a lot of it's fake so please be careful. When you please. Look up some of these charities believe it or not there are people out there looking to try to take advantage of you at this time yeah which is which is a shame to hear about people are going to going to donate their hard earned money for relief efforts to help people that are in need and you know bless them of course for doing that we saw it with her with with Harvey and Allan Houston Puerto Rico and and now we're going to see it again with the Bahamas people you know the community that we have here in central Florida we've seen them with countless disasters stepping up to not just help us here in this community but other communities just make sure where the money's going is to do right place so before you know you're so eager and I that's what's so disappointing about this is that people are so eager to help that they kind of blindly run out and they say Ok you know take a go to Go Fund Me and just serve Yeah yeah help help somebody I want to help I'm seeing these videos of of people evacuating their homes and in waist deep water and and you know trying to get their animals their pets out you and I were talking about the video we saw a woman carrying both daughters out and and just trying to get to safety and people say just take my money and help those people and you know unfortunately there's some predatory people out there that aren't being honest we're with where that money is going so make sure that you do your due diligence make sure that you keep an eye out and the money is going to the right place because you know we all want to help let's just make sure go to the right place live wind gusts right now as I'm looking up on this radar here Cocoa Beach Sabbat we love $46.00 Titusville about $37.00 Daytona is at $33.00 so nothing really crazy just yet back home towards downtown Orlando it's 28 doubts our Lando our meter on the top of our tower here at the radio station says $21.00 So right now as Dorian is just on the outside of it looking pretty good or even a Royal Caribbean is going to step up here to talk about helping out. Royal Caribbean pledging $1000000.00 to hurricane Dorian disaster. Relief they announced earlier today they're committing $1000000.00 and. Their partner has basically developing a resort down there in Freeport also donating an additional 100000 they are going to collaborate with the Bahamian government and nonprofit partner Pan American Development Foundation which is a network of brining charities and other local. Organizations including the Bahamas feeding network to make sure that their money and the food stuff goes to the right spot so a statement from oral Caribbean earlier today saying we are loading all kinds of goods onto our ships generators water cleaning supplies towels you name it they're going to direct delivery to the Bahamas in the Freeport trading area so shout out to Royal Caribbean Disney made a statement earlier today too as well so big shout for those guys for helping and stepping up we're supposed to check in with George Walden burger severe weather center now and he was on Channel 9 they went a little long there and I think we might have known where Tom Terry breaking this thing down as it continues to move north just east of the Florida coast here yeah this is it so it's right outside our door I believe we've got George the now George thanks so much for joining us here you're welcome and pretty much provide County are we going to see them speaking just for our county right now Palm Bay cocoa Cape Canaveral is this the worst of it right now yeah. The worst of it and from here on out actually it will get a little better and the winds you know we've had we've had sustained tropical storm force winds and county a special on our coast some gusts 5060 miles per hour just off of the provided County coastline we actually had wind gusts 70 to 76 miles per hour in some of the buoys that are a little bit farther out but right now the center of this of the hurricane is off Cape Canaveral. 90 miles and it's beginning to shift north so for provider county things will gradually weekend but it's going to take a while and I think it's going to stay windy though through tomorrow morning. So if we're looking at it from a Daytona Beach Palm Coast stamp point you they are should say Volusia County north part of they have roughly another hour of this Volusia County and Flagler County area has just started so we're just getting started yeah yeah they're just getting started so they have that 1st initial rain band if you're looking at the radar Paul go says the really heavy rain right now and 3 inches of rain has fallen in spots there so it's really quite rough actually from palm coast down through but now into the Lucia County just squally gusty rain and that that band itself should taper off here in the next hour and I think that maybe what you are referencing but yes the entire hurricane though needs to skirt by the coast and so it's going to be windy and those 2 counties all the way through tomorrow morning and then tomorrow afternoon the winds will begin to die down George what's the expectation is Dorian heads north I guess with with what the storm is going to do will it pick up strength is it going to kind of die off as we go I know we're watching the East Coast of the United States to kind of where see where it's going to head next Yeah it looks like it will maintain strength as it starts to curve more to the northeast and that's where we have to watch the Carolinas there under actually a hurricane warning in South Carolina North Carolina coastline and a hurricane watch a little bit farther out as you get toward the Cape there Cape Hatteras and the only reason why they're under a watch not a warning it's because the time you get a watch 48 hours out once you know Dorian moves a little farther to the north we'll get a warning as well we have to watch the North Carolina coast Hopefully this can curve off to the northeast but right now that Cape Cape Hatteras is right in the middle of forecast track Thursday night into Friday morning so this is. Been a problem for many areas and it's just not going us down one by one is there any tornado threat right now George for the many more listening area yeah good question we did have a tornado warning earlier that was about 6 pm in Bravo County and it was that initial band actually that's now pushing through Flagler County but that will be drifting north and once that does that will be about it for any tornado threat so you know we'll watch that little band in Flagler County right now but I think after that we're going to be in pretty good shape with really just wind and wind driven rain mainly at our coasts Well it sounds like just got a lot of good news for us here it really is continue compared with what it could have been you know Dorian stalled and that was devastating for you know our friends in the Bahamas and our relatives there but that stall so prevented it from moving over Florida if it did not stall it would be making an entirely different track that would include much more severe impacts here in central Florida and you know we're really lucky to get out this easy in central Florida with the storm Gustav or coast but nonetheless we will be waking up to beach erosion at our beaches and there will be some damage that needs to be addressed as well at our beaches and well we'll see a little bit more of that in the morning yeah it seems like it's even moving a little more east here at 1245 it's going to wobbling around Yeah interesting love George thanks so much for joining us we'll check in with the a just after the 1 o'clock hour sounds good George Wallenberg over at Severe Weather Center 9 and Calcasieu Internet radio which here with your taking your phone calls and 442200965 Fremont is here as well Jeanne you've been monitoring the open mikes on the news 105 app which you got for Yes sir I have been monitoring the open mike so we had someone call in from. Ormond by the sea and he's kind of talking about what he sees out that way is to. See you. Jennifer to serve when a lottery and learn the most certainly game later. Check him for us that's fantastic I think a.j. Is going win a lot of people are saying right now a lot of rain not much else and because of the way the bands come and go it's activity no activity activity no activity and everyone's kind of wondering are right when is this thing going to pass and we can just get back to the kind of every day life and not be you know monitoring what's going on I think from a timing standpoint just because it's happening now I mean if this were if this were 12 pm this afternoon we probably back to normal tomorrow or today Wednesday and because it's just happening now you know the schools have to get out of the. Evacuation or the shelters the schools have to clean up after the shelter so they can get back and put themselves and to have students back you have done a good day hang over on this just as yet wait at this time it went to you know Seminole County and then the other counties had to you know they they they they cancel school Tuesday and Wednesday so I mean with school being out tomorrow everyone will take tomorrow to get back to their kind of every day and see what the The Hangover is from this but you're right I mean because of the shelters being in some of the schools that have to wait and Thursday will likely be business as usual once again I thought George made a really good point by the way or I think was a good realization make while the Bahamas were devastated by the storm sitting on top of it for as long as it did that did spare central Florida you know and that's that you know I hate to say that but I did and that's kind of what I mean is yeah I wanted to kind of pay attention to that from all over watching all the devastation in the Bahamas right now because the fact that it sat there as long as it did means that you know central Florida was spared by that so when you do think about relief efforts and you think about kind of trying to help and all think about this all the hurricane supplies you know I know some of our coworkers here at Cox Media Group in Orlando were doing this today you know a lot of people have bottled water they have snacks they have got all of. Bars don't return those to the store don't don't don't you know don't keep them in the cabinet where you're going to eat them or something you know if you can afford to donate them go ahead and donate them because you know they can use as much bottled water as they can get down in the Bahamas now and food now that I was watching videos of the one of the resorts in the Bahamas making sandwiches for everybody you know so I do think you know it's something to keep in mind well you were going to have some relief efforts here as well but I mean you think about the some of the one of the ideas I had is you know if these cruise lines are going to step up and deliver stuff to the Bahamas in the courts you know can we set up something maybe in our parking lot where you could bring by water ball and from what I was already thinking about that stuff so there's going to be places where you don't have to drive all the way out to Port Canaveral to donate your stuff to any of the ships before they bring it back down there we will have trucks and stops throughout our local community here in Orange seminal Osceola Lake counties that will be able to drive trucks out there to deliver those things so that's a great way you can help as well yeah and I it is in a part of the world that we're very familiar with here in central Florida because who when Florida has not jumped on a weekend cruise taken one of those 4 day last minute cruises and one of those stops is the Bahamas you know what I'm glad to see that those cruise ship companies are doing what they're doing to try to help and I think us in central Florida can try to help as well I know and I you were talking earlier about the bombers I just can't I can't. Fathom the photos that are coming damage done the roofs being torn off there was a roof with the videos on we saw from the airport earlier tonight in the next to Freeport the I forget the name of the airport right now but the airport here for port were the terminal was just completely blown and the roof was blown off I mean it was a Category 5 plus if there was a category 6 it would have been a 6. For them to have that over 24 hours to spare us it just frustrating I wish I could take I was prepared a little bit I wish I would take a little more gusty winds just to help some type of spare the Bahamas but you know if you gotta look at it from a microscope from our community perspective we're getting very lucky the storm is staying I hate to draw that parallel it was the fact that George brought that up yeah and observed the fact of it as I heard him the way that the hurricane's path was was changed by that yeah that is that that is something to keep in mind I think when we're looking at the relief efforts down there in the palm but that's the nature of a hurricane that is that's what it is it's just one evil I mean how many I mean we we all watched the spaghetti models but I know her for basically a week saying Ok is it going to go left is it going to go right is going to go up the sideline where are we headed here and and finally you know Dorian stopped in the Bahamas and then kind of to tell the Florida sideline and now we were just talking Georgian is it going to head to the Carolinas is going to head out to the to the ocean we don't know why I was talking to my mom who lives in Palm Beach County and they I was right over there I said no hit you know needs to go north and hit you know it stays down there we got hit by Irma you get hit in like what were we arguing about it's like who could have the worse it's like I'm not rooting for anybody to get a hurricane but you know that that is what it is when we here in central Florida and inside the 965 listening area dodged a big bullet but we did and fortunately the bombers took a brunt of it took all of pretty much of the red not even brought all the wrath of Hurricane Dorian So the relief efforts will be definitely stepped up if you have any ideas on how you like to help the relief efforts say it out be a cool idea that we'd love to hear those 2 give us a call 844-220-0965 that's 844-220-0965 The text machine is up and running as well as 21232 that is 21232 and we also have the open mikes open as well die. To special live team coverage of Hurricane Dorian How will Dorian impact you react we're talking and listening to the experts and we want you to join the conversation at 844220096 but they say and stay connected to our special team coverage of Hurricane Dorian starts now. It's a sitting across from me Jeanne Freemont is a d.b.o. Control we are taking you all the way up to 4 am continuing team coverage of Hurricane Dorian right here on News on the 6.5 w d b o And I you say for everybody here in central Florida we are getting very lucky is some of latest data shows that Dorian's worst is staying off of our coast it is staying in the water we're going to see some rough seas here but performed county you are seeing the worst of 2. Going to see if you're in Volusia you got a little bit more you're just getting started but hittin you continuous updates all throughout the night we're going to get an update here in just a moment on the power outage counted before our county we can see conflicting numbers were confirmed to work those for you but if the power has gone out I know there are a ton of Electrical Workers here in central Florida in fact as I was driving in I passed about 5 or 6 trucks here in Orange County I'm gone we're not going to need them so. It's going to be headed over in your direction here as the morning comes Jeanne Fremont's got the open mike see what we have for us yes or so apparently there were 2 kayakers in Seminole County who decided that they wanted to go for a little run while the storm was headed our way and we had an open mike just wanted to thank the 1st responders destroyed I think the 1st responders fire rescue police law enforcement fish and wildlife for risking their lives to go rescue those kayakers so carefully they thought it was a good idea. Top of the store parking visions to go kayaking like that that the how you just said put the fire rescue people's lives at risk of they still went out there did what they did. I think those 1st responders definitely a round of applause for a rescue. Absolutely they're going to get that from us around of applause but come on guys it's really matters what happened here so to decided that when a Category 2 hurricane was off the coast they were going to get in their kayaks and go out for yeah that's pretty much it to kayakers went out to Lake Carney that was about as much discussion as they had on the 2 before grabbing the kayaks I guess not a lot of thought went into that if they are minute they use are going to his denials just go out there and kayak and do something because it is bored but yet in Geneva 46 Ok. C.s. Lee Park if I remember correctly pull that story out but yes yes Lee Park is where they were and basically they get they get they got a. Distress call from a g.p.s. And those 1st responders got out there and found them and rescue them the 22 guys you need to stay safe doors during this because you don't need to divert any of their resources away from where they are needed now we're very fortunate that the elements are what they are and it has not been you know a devastating hurricane here in central Florida or even on the East Coast at this point we talked content on Christian last hour but you know you need to be careful at this time because if you do end up in trouble you end up having to use some of those resources where they could be better used somewhere else yeah come on guys I mean really but that's that's the hurricane you know when I look at everybody in some of the photos we saw videos of people out on the coast earlier today they were out on those docks when those big away's were coming in and the one guy told a Marine always talking about he put it on his Twitter page I was talking about it on the air where I don't know if you saw this a couple guy and a girl out on you know the barge there on the dock Ok and a huge just wave wave and knocks the guy square out of into the water and starts taking them right back to the shore and he swim and he's got his phone as want to and then it's like really guys is it worth the likes of you know like Sara Lee I mean I'm sorry I mean that's the 1st thought that comes to mind I think it was Monday morning and woman out there were Ok.
