Mid afternoon, back into the 40s. Off to a chilly start this morning. Well start to see the winds pick up. Thatll allow for the gradual warm up. Greater cleveland, out and object oar stepping out, we are seeing a few flakes. Theyre on the isolated side. From the power of 5 theyre shifting well towards the east. They will move out of the area as we head into the rest of the day. Southern portions of cuyahoga county, definitely dealing with a few scattered showers moving into lake, geauga, even ashtabula county. Theyre on the light side. Sporadic. Probably wont notice them as they continue to move out by mid afternoon. Taking a look at the wider picture. Look at temperatures right now. Currently at 29 degrees. Kind of off to a chilly start. From is that southwest breeze there on the light side about 5 to 10 purpose. The feel like temperatures into the lower 20s. Taking a look at our hour by hour, this looks really good. Well go with partly to mostly sunny skies going into the 1 00 hour. Well start to see clouds thicken up. By 5 00 to 7 00 with no moisture and these temperatures for the last few days of february unbelievable. Nick. Looking forward to it. A father of four ready to enjoy a rare night out with friends gets more than he bargained for. It could have been a lot worse if not for a twist of fate. Whoever it was intended to kill. But the gun jammed and then anthonys body was too close to the gunman for him to aim higher. A bullet grazed anthonys leg. Another bullet ripped through his food. His heart as loud as any gunshot. He shot again. Like two, three more times but the gun jammed again. I pushed him. And i just took off running. Reporter hopped up on adrenaline he didnt know hed been shot. By the time he peeked around the corner of a strangers yard his own car zoomed past. Two thieves inside. Medics stapled, sewed and patched him together. Near. A few inches back on that heel and he might not have been sitting here. Hard to imagine. That was frank wiley reporting. Phone. They are still on the loose. New this morning the city of chardon making a somber an anniversary. Four years since the School Shooting that left three dead. In an example of good overcoming bad, since the tragedy members of the community have worked to create a space to honor their teens who were lost. Who lost their lives in that tragedy. Plans for a chardon Living Memorial Park have begun. The group behind the plan is working with the city to obtain land that would be developed into a park with hiking trails, a playground and a dedicated space for survivors. A local photographer captured surprising before and after pictures of elderwood avenue. The first photo lush and green in january of 2014. Now the second one which looks dry and desolate was snapped at first balance it might look like its just getting worse and worse. Its actually signs of improvement. A local recycling company took it upon themselves to clear out the trash and trees. It gives you this look at life after people. Hopefully in time itll come back to what it used to be and what east clevelanders know it can be. East cleveland mayor gary norton says the vacant apartment buildings will be demolished within the 60 days. Its part of a project with northeast ohio regional sewer district. Ford announcing it is investigating 145 million to upgrade one of its plants in cleveland. The plant produces engines that power the 2016 ford f 150, the explorer, expedition, transit, flex and taurus. The good news, this is expected to create or retain 150 jobs locally. It means theyll have jobs for years to come. It means that cleveland is the choice for engines for ford motor company. We are an integral part of fords future. Of a 9 billion total investment into ford facilities across the country. Great for cleveland. The auto show runs from 11 00 a. M. Till till 10 00 p. M. Tonight. Breaking overnight, a suicide bombing in afghanistan in syria a car bomb this morning violates the cease fire that went into effect at midnight. The cease fire was just two hours old when the bombing was reported. No one has claimed responsibility for the bomb and it is possible it was from isis or al qaeda. Both groups were not included in iran reformists and moderate conservatives are leading in the parliament election. Preliminary results show may face a more friendly house to pursue his domestic agenda. Fridays election was the first. New details coming in about the Washington State shooting that left five people dead. Deputies say the 12yearold girl who is the only survivor of the shooting is related to the other victims. It happened yesterday in a rural part of the state. The gunman called an officer he had dealt with in the past to say he had shot and killed his family. The man locked himself in the home with a gun. Himself. Neighbors say they heard the gunshot. We were just standing outside. Just heard random shooting. Sounded like they were target shooting. Police still have not victims. Only about 9 of lake erie is frozen over at this time. Most of it this time last year was completely frozen over. This is a great shot here of our earth cam. You can see a few clouds out there. And if youre stepping out, could see some isolated snow showers. I mean theyre on the light side and moving east fairly quickly. Right now were at a chilly 30 degrees. I grew up in this city. Cleveland pulsed with jobs. A bubbling caldron of commerce and work. In the 50s and 60s it was easy to see the manufacturing. Historian of the western reserve Historical Society chronicles what we were. Surrounded by items. He recalls times jobs were abundant and clevelands biceps bulged. Large factories. These are stark reminders of what was. The city is peppered with closed plants. These are the ruins of a not so long ago time. Victims of the winds of change. Years ago i had many family members who worked in factories like this. Both jobs are long gone. So is the factory. There are manufacturing jobs in cleveland. They call for new technology and new skills for the workers and not as many workers. But the old line jobs and the old line factories like this are long gone. There are smaller manufacturing operations in greater cleveland. They may not be as visible because of their work force size. Historically cleveland has been a hard working community. Generations old Higher Education institutes will help. One business is sector for growth. There seems to be in end of growth in the medical industry right now. What of other industries . Will Company Owners looking for fertile fields plant in cleveland . The hard working ethic is still in this citys bloodline. Even when the fog hangs heavy over the city, hope hangs heavy as well. The National Politicians know that. Thats one of the reasons for the Republican National convention to be held in cleveland. As well the march primary is coming up. Republicans and democrats will both be here trying to get those votes. Ohio is very important. So to is cleveland. The National Politicians know that. So do we. We are learning it even better. We need to keep looking at our own strengths. There is a spirit which runs through most everything we do. We clevelanders are hard workers who take pride in our work. Other cities may have songs written about them. If the songs are good theyll end up here at the rock and roll hall of fame. But we are rock and rollers ourselves and we sing our own songs. Song that have words in them about conviction and strength and never say quit. Thats cleveland in my ohio and your ohio. Thats who we are. The flow of cleveland runs through my veins. This is how deep are my roots. It should look to cleveland. Strong in areas looking to be stronger. So business come grow with greater cleveland.
