As Hurricane Matthew continues on its path. Storm force winds that are affecting the state of georgia and will continue to do so. Were told for about the next 24 hours. It is getting worse. And so we are looking at major storm surges. Were looking at major winds. The greatest impact in North Carolina will be saturday to be on guard. Those of you who live in georgia, as they should be paying attention, because theres been a lot of emphasis on florida but this thing is going to keep on moving north through florida into South Carolina. There are Large Population centers there that could be vulnerable. Reporter and that is what theyre worried about right now. Those barrier islands. But, again, we are still awaiting the eye to pass us here in already roughly half of the people who live in this county, in the county below us, without power at this point. This point, the streets have turned into streams. In a town south of us, st. Augustine, we continue to wait. Gusty winds with them too. Certainly strong winds. Youve seen that in the show. With the winds were like around the eye of the storm. Most intense winds always in the eye wall. Especially where the bright reds are, embedded in the storm pattern. Thats where you dont want that to come on shore. Thats the worse part of the storm. It really cooperated nicely stayed off shore 25, 30 miles, just far aenough away. Still all of the winds coming along the shore causing flooding category strongest sustained winds as measured by aircraft flown into the storm by the National Hurricane center. 115 Miles Per Hour. Doesnt mean youre going to get those winds at the surface, especially on the west side of the storm. The coastline last happens to be on the weaker side. You dont need an mit engineer to figure out that putting all of those planes over that narrow band of homes is a bad thing.
