We heard from both the mayor and the police chief that this seems to be a much, even compared to rd the mayor said up to this point, people understand they need to be careful. It seems parents and guardians have heated the heated the citywide curfew. They like what they are seeing. The mayor, as well as the police chief who updated reporters tonight. We have been there all evening, lately deployed by the i have been in that area personally several times this evening, surveying the situation myself. We have been very gratified at the response of community members. Community leaders met with people assembling in the grassy area behind the bp station. The last time i went there there were people in personal goals. There was a vigorous barbecue going on. That is very encouraging. Over the course of the evening, we have monitored that situation closely. We also have deployed differently tonight. Last night, we were in more of a static situation. As you saw last night, evidence once again early in the afternoon, the Faith Community has responded. They, along with various community leaders, did an excellent job of seeing to it that the vigil remained peaceful and a positive message said to the community. The vast majority of individuals last night left after that event. We found ourselves confronting juveniles who were engaging in various acts of opportunistic vandalism, but we were not facing a situation in which there was significant crowd or not activity for significant Property Damage or major arson. There is a major deal of improvement over the first day. That is attributed to the partnership of the community. Certainly, major responsibility goes to community engagement. Arrests tonight, that is compared to 14 last night, 17 the night before. They feel there is a relative calm. The bp station he referred to is one of seven businesses damaged by fire on saturday night. The police chief talked about a chicago entity. They were talking about outsiders that had come up for the protest. He referred to them as the revolutionary communist party that the Associated Press reached out to the founding member. He confirmed some Party Supporters went to milwaukee and he said no one set out to cause trouble. Everybody is keeping a look on social media and keeping on top of things. We will go to Ben Hutchinson again, who has been following this story for us since saturday. Ben kathy and joyce, the park deputies continue to monitor the area. They are making sure no one is hopping the fence or entering the park. We havent seen many people out here. We are about one block south of the bp. A far cry from saturday night as the chief talked about when there were hundreds of people out here on the streets. I witnessed cars driving to the park. Patrol troopers have showed up to join those shares deputies, but again, very quiet out here. A lot of people hoping for the peace and hoping milwaukee doesnt do any more damage to itself in this area. A lot of people telling me they were embarrassed by what happened over the weekend. I hear it sherman park, it is closed until site until 6 00 a. M. We will continue to monitor the situation. The curfew is in effect, as ben had mentioned, and the park will reopen tomorrow at 6 00. Some reports of shots fired, but with the mayor and the police chief saying signs are very encouraging.
