Were seeing a lot of red and yellow up mainly in this corner on the northwest side. Lets talk about, though what weve got in maryland to start. Baltimorewashington parkway both directions averaging about 26 Miles Per Hour. As we work a little bit closer i want to focus this area that i was just saying. 13 Miles Per Hour is your average. Once you are right near the American Legion bridge. Lets take a look outside and show you what we do have. This will be near seven lots both directions that we are seeing this volume. And as we take a look at 66 near cedar lane this gives you a good idea. This is our outbound traffic and we have sun glare. Definitely adding to our afternoon congestion. Moving back to our maps i want to talk about one thing for you and thats going to be how slow we are on 395 southbound. So mainly getting from the 14th street bridge continuing out a little bit closer towards the beltway. Youre only in an average of 16 Miles Per Hour and right now take you about 22 minutes. No accidents, though. Just a lot of our congestion. Thats a look at traffic. Over to you. Kimberly thank you jamie. Autria ok. Lets look at the weather. A little farther west in Allegheny County at Frostburg University weve got showers and thunderstorms on the horizon here. 53 degrees. Winds kind of gusty now. So this is kind of the location off to the west as the cold front producing showers and storms and theyll be moving closer. Were thinking probably 7 00 to 8 00 in the evening hours for most of the metro area. Theyll be moving in from the west. You can see the difference behind the cold front and ahead of the cold front, up to 75 at Reagan National. I think thats the warmest weve been so far this evening. A couple of days hit 70 or so. 75 in charlottesville. Columbus at 43. Theres a clue of whats coming our way. A definite change in temperatures tomorrow and a more noticeable drop for the day on saturday and maybe just for fun, well throw in a few snow flurries around here. Here comes the front. Clear skies or partly cloudy skies in our area. Now the front, some downpours. We dont expect any widespread outbreak of thunderstorms, anything like that. But because the winds are so strong at the surface and strong aloft, these heavy downpours will bring that very gusty wind to the surface. It will get windy. Good showers isolated thunderstorms through this evening. And later tonight, kind of a reinforcing push of some of the rain. That will last through tomorrow morning as the actual cold front comes through. Our timing on the futurecast, 6 00 tonight. That line will be coming from the north and west. Thats what were watching and behind the front, even more showers will redevelop overnight and move in for the morning hours. We think by midday tomorrow, they should pretty much move out and may see a touch of clearing late in the day and then turn chillier. By saturday, well turn colder. So our forecast for tomorrow after the rain in the morning becoming partly sunny late in the day. Highs only about 50 or so. A definitely change over today, 75 and then through the next seven days, saturday partly to mostly cloudy. Breezy scattered flurries around the area. Highs only in the low to mid 40s. John many home owners at some point are going to have to deal with a burst pipe or a water leak. When it happens, do you have any idea what to do . Should you call your Insurance Company . Ill explain why the answer is not always yes. The shop vac was working over time here at the clark house after a burst water pipe sent water cascading from the first floor down to the basement. This is actually still wet here. Yeah. John mike clark showed me buckets filled with water still dripping 24 hours after he discovered the leak. Down this wall and this is all ripped up now, too. John the culprit . Get started here in our laundry room. John clark suspects a burst water line in the wall behind his washing machine. So he called the plummer plumber. I thought about it. I have 1,000 deductible. Most insurance policies will cover up to 1,000. John first, pipes are covered by most home owners policies. Many policies have a 1,000 deductible so cleanup is less than 1500 its usually not worth filing a claim. In addition one claim can raise your rates as much as 10 according to bankrate. Com and bankrate says a second claim when Something Else happens can make you high risk with even higher rates. Clark says with his repairs looking they wont exceed 500, hell do it himself with the plumbers help and skip the claim this time. If you cant thoroughly dry out your walls and your carpeting, mold will form. That can cost thousands of dollars to clean up. If you worry you wont be able to dry up all the moisture call your insurers so down the road, you dont waste your money. Im john materise, abc 7 news. Heres a live look right now in Bell Haven Country Club looking north towards the city and north towards our studios here in rosslyn. See a few clouds but a lot of sunshine and look at the temperature there now. 74 degrees and mid 70s common now across the entire area. Take a look at some numbers. 75 at Reagan National airport as we speak. 75 in petersburg and culpepper. 75 in frederick. Its widespread. Just took a while for the sun to get here. That combination of sunshine with sotherly winds have really warmed us up very nicely. Weve got the gusty winds now. These are the wind gusts in the past hour to 25 at Reagan National and 24 at b. W. I. Thurgood marshall and 24mileperhour gusts at washington dulles. Winds turn to the west. Its happened in cumberland and petersburg theyre changing. Thats where the cold front is. Behind the front, the winds change direction. Ahead of the front, were seeing the showers and thunderstorms and the whole line is moving to the east but the individual cells are moving northeast so that kind of slows the timing down here. But were thinking between 7 00 and 8ly 00 thats probably the earliest time frame to get close to the metro area. Moving to the westsouthwest first. Our futurecast is helping us timing it out. At 8 00 even a broken line northwest. This is a simulation by computer. It is not a, you know this is exactly whats going to happen but its a clue and then more showers to follow with a few heavy downpours and gusty winds and still a lot of moisture coming in behind the front here so well have showers overnight. We can wind up with 1 2 inch of rain or more in spots and even some rain into tomorrow morning. But gradually during the midday and afternoon, should all shift out of the area with some clearing skies. Heres what were left with through the weekend and beyond in the seven day outlook. After the rain ends tomorrow afternoon sunshine. Temperatures in the afternoon probably 20 to 25 degrees cooler than they are now and saturday only low to mid 40s. A little sun. Lot of clouds.
