Identified by police was found sleeping on a bench this morning at daytona beach, florida, more than 500 miles away from that community college. Tonight, authorities are working to extradite him back to North Carolina where he allegedly gunned down a man and then ran off. I can say with confidence that mr. Stancil had a calculated plan and he in fact carried out that plan. Brianne 20yearold Kenneth Stancil is behind bars tonight in florida after allegedly shooting and killing a staff member at a North Carolina community college. This is being investigated as a possible hate crime. Brianne police say monday morning, stancil shot the 44yearold campus print shop director ron lane. Stancil was a member of the print shop Work Study Program but was let go for missing too many days. Lanes supervisor at the college says lane was gay but police arent saying if that was a motive in this crime back at the college, its a day of healing after a terrifying start to the school week. We will be paying personal tributes to ron lane today. And later in the week we will plan a celebration of his life. Funeral arrangements meanwhile, are set now for that guard killed while protecting the u. S. Census bureau. Lawrence buckner was shot last thursday outside of the agencys suitland headquarters. His funeral will be held friday at Little Zion Baptist Church in colonial beach, virginia. Suspected shooter Ronald Anderson is accused of kidnapping his girlfriend and exchanging gunfire with d. C. Sam leon the Company Called corizon in recent years had lost contract in five states over the quality care. They had a contract with d. C. And weeks ago the mayor was criticizing Council Members for even considering rejecting the contract. Today, they not only considered it but rejected it and handed the mayor her first major legislative defeat. This isnt a contract about grass cutting or supplies or paving roads. Reporter some Council Members said they didnt want the company at the d. C. Jail even though they had won a 66 Million Contract from mayor bowser, they were not voting to approve. Strike the term approve wherever it appears and insert the word disapprove in its place. Sam almost evenly split on the other side bowsers supporters talked about following the process. Corizon had won the bid. Its about this council being a body that goes with the law. And you may not win. You may not win all the time. Youll lose sometimes. A group of residents is pushing for a moratorium on oversized popup homes. They say ruin the nature of older established neighborhoods. After 1,000 signatures on a petition asking for a moratorium which Muriel Bowser has already asked for last july one would think this would have had stronger support. Obviously, theyre not listening to their constituents. Alison the zoning rules being considered would lower the maximum home height from 40 feet down to 35 feet. It would also limit the number of condos in the homes and require at least one be reserved for lower income residents. Our cameras were there and they caught the flames shooting from the building on east wayne street. Suzanne kennedy talked to those who are there awakened by the sounds of alarms and sirens. Suzanne the two alarm fire started around 7 00 this morning on the eighth floor of this building. Residents who quickly evacuated say they heard an explosion as the fire burned. Well we heard huge rocking bang. Suzanne it was the sound that woke many residents and forced them to flee this high rise earlier this morning. 100 Montgomery County firefighters were brought in to fight the blaze that started at 7 00 a. M. On east wayne street. This was a huge fire. It was really red. And that was not too much smoke coming out of it. But it was really red and intense. Suzanne residents reported hearing an explosion. The window frame from the eighth floor window had blown out before the firefighters arrived on the scene. So thats a little unusual. Again, something described to me that there was an explosion. Suzanne all of the tenants were evacuated safely. There were no injuries. Still a frightening situation for residents, especially those on the eighth floor. Investigators believe the fire started on the roof of the home the fire there was quickly knocked down and no one was hurt. Leon were getting a first look tonight at why police are investigating a Fairfax CountyPolice Officer for child pornography. Virginia bureau chief Jeff Goldberg is live now outside of the Fairfax County courthouse where hes just obtained one of the search warrants. Jeff, what are you seeing . Jeff well leon we obtained this warrant this afternoon and it was served last thursday on the home at the home of the fairfax Police Officer being investigated for child pornography. He is a 15 year veteran of the department and late last week, he was relieved of his duties. Now, this search warrant does not name the officer but we have confirmed with sources that the address listed in the searc warrant is that of the officer in question. Now, according to the warrant in july of 2014 the social media site tumbler reported to the National Center for missing and exploited children that child pornography was uploaded to its server from an email address that Fairfax County police the Child Exploitation unit of the department traced back to the home of the officer. Tumbler reported that one image and one is a video played in a loop of male child pornography had been uploaded to the site. According to the warrant police searched the home and took a considerable amount of materials including a desktop computer, laptop ipad, hard drives thumb drives and cameras. Now, at this point, no word on what has been discovered from those materials. We do know that at this point, no charges have been filed. A tulsa reserve sheriffs deputy surrendered on charges that he shot a man to death during an arrest. Jeanette the stancil family is demanding change and filing a 50 million lawsuit after 9yearold jaydan was shot in the head last october. Little jaydan was on the playground at the mayfair mansion apartment complex in northeast when a gun fight broke out in the nearby parking lot. A bullet was lodged right on top of his eye. He survived but not without multiple surgeries and intensive therapy. The lawsuit is lodged against the Property Management company and the Insurance Company responsible for the complex. The lawsuit alleges there was Inadequate Security measures in place. According to the firm there have been 65 gunshots reported on the property in the last five years and repeated tenant complaints against the complex. For my family hes a fighter. Hes doing much better today considering he was given only 35 minutes to live. I would hate to see another family go through what ive been through with jaydan. Alison two drivers are recovering after a Chain Reaction crash in rockville sent them to the hospital. A two car collision happened on the shady grove road overpass at i270 around 1 30 this afternoon. When the drivers exited their vehicles to exchange information, a third vehicle struck and carried them in between their cars. A tanker truck lost control and hit more than four parked cars and then landed on top of two others. This happened early in the morning in rahway near staten island.
