Our other top story right now, Marion County sheriff tells news 6 he is trying to keep the communitys trust after we got ahold of this Surveillance Video that shows five of his deputies kicking and punching a drug suspect who did not appear to be resisting. A fifth deputy has been indicted on federal charges. News 6 reporter Eric Sandoval is in Marion County tonight getting answers from the sheriff. Marion county sheriff chris blair tells me he was just as shocked as a lot of other people were the first time they saw this Surveillance Video. He says that is why he immediately turned it over to investigators. Were not going to let the actions of these individuals destroy the reputation of Marion County Sheriffs Office. The Marion County sheriff own deputies, caught in this Surveillance Video, shot from the side of an office building. It caught 33yearold derek price running from cops into this parking lot. You can see hes tackled to the ground. But then you see deputies, including Deputy Jesse Allen terrell, punch and kick price. Price appears not to fight back. Terrell was indicted yesterday by a federal grand jury on charges he violated prices civil rights. We asked sheriff blair today what he thought when he saw this video of his deputies. I can just tell you, i did not leave that desk from where i viewed that video and i immediately made a contact with the Florida Department of law enforcement. Thats how strong i felt that they were way outside the line. The other four deputies have already pleaded guilty in federal court. Theyre now awaiting sentencing. They could face as many as 10 years in prison. And a 250,000 fine. Now, even though hes still in jail on drug charges right across the parking lot from us tonight, price is weighing in on this, through his attorneys. Marion county to stay calm until the federal courts rule on this case. Were at the Marion County Sheriffs Office tonight, Eric Sandoval, news 6. Thank you. Sheriff blair denies theres a culture of racism in his office. He says hes actually expanded deputy training to address race and civil rights issues. New at 7 00 tonight were just getting our first look at video deputies say shows zanaida gonzales committing a crime. Take a look. Osceola deputies posted this Surveillance Video late today. They say it shows gonzales and an accomplice going into a walmart to use a stolen credit card. Detectives say it is just one piece of evidence that helped them line up arrest warrants. Only news 6 was there overnight as gonzales bonded out of jail. The woman who sued Casey Anthony and lost for defamation of character is facing credit card fraud and grand theft charges. Deputies say gonzales and her boyfriend stole the credit card from the star motel in kissimmee last month. Both were working in in Brevard County, a woman says she was raped and held against her will. Now Palm Bay Police have made an arrest. They tell us the man not only locked the woman in his bedroom, they say he took pictures during the sexual attack. So heres the mugshot for the suspect. Police say the woman went willingly to his home on monday night along with several others, but when she wanted to leave, police say he locked her in, pulled her clothes off and attacked her. She says he finally took her home the next day when she threatened to call police. He is still in jail tonight. A Crime Tracker alert tonight in Volusia County. Deputies are warning everyone after an 81yearold woman was scammed out of thousands of dollars by a thief pretending to be law enforcement. News 6 reporter loren korn says its a new twist on a scam detectives have seen before. It was here at this winndixie where a couple of people brought in thousands of dollars to buy prepaid gift lieutenant in fear of getting arrested. I need to speak to someone about a scam. The Volusia County Sheriffs Office says its looking for a man who they say is posing as one of them. Were they able to obtain any money or personal information of yours . They were well on their way. I dont know if you have a lieutenant croft with the badge no. 589 in the sheriffs department. Thats who he said he was. Scared me. Susan gray got one of those calls wednesday afternoon. He says this is lieutenant croft from the Volusia County Sheriffs Office, badge no. 589. Gray says the man told the couple they needed to pay a 5500 fine due to outstanding warrants for missing jury duty or else. You dont want to have a deputy come out there and pick you up and put you in handcuffs and cart you off to jail. I said, no. While gray did not fall victim, an 82yearold woman did. Deputies say she went to winndixie and purchased 11 prepaid gift cards, sending him i have seen many times on the news the elderly being victimized by people such as this gentleman. Thats not right. Gray says she knew something wasnt right, thanks to her daughter being in law enforcement. But she also learned another tip from deputies. He said, we will never call you over the phone and tell you that we have an arrest warrant. If we have an arrest warrant, we will show up at your door. If you have any information about this scam, call volusia deputies immediately. The fight for medical marijuana will be back on the ballot for florida voters this november. Two years ago, it missed the needed 60 by a small margin. Tonight attorney john morgan says he will succeed. He tells Amanda Castro why hes trying again. He says 2016 is the year to legalize medical marijuana in theyre hoping this year theyll get enough people to say why he on amendment 2. We feel like the wind is at our sails. Its attempt no. 2 for attorney john morgan and the group united for care. Theyre trying to put the november. Were coming back here in 2016 to finish the battle and win the war. The initiative would legalize the use of medical marijuana from patients who suffer from severe medical conditions. Were really talking about for the most part illnesses and injuries where people are fighting for their lives. The measure failed in 2014. Morgan says this time around, theyre confident the amendment will pass with the necessary 60 of the votes. He adds major opponents during the last try including polk county Sheriff Grady Judd and attorney general pam bondi last time, pam bondi filed a brief opposing us. This time, she did not. Another difference, the Organization Says theyre targeting the senior vote by educating the group on how medical marijuana could benefit them. I plan to be in condominiums and, you know, towers, i plan to be talking to seniors. He hopes the president ial election will bring out more voters. But disney is blasting back, telling news 6 the boy was bitten by a nonpoisonous wild snake, not one owned by disney. A nurse put a bandaid on his finger and the family went back to the park to enjoy the day. Disney is calling it an utter mischaracterization of the facts. And in paris, a man was arrested at one of disneylands resort hotels when an xray spotted two handguns in his luggage. Heres video from earlier today. You can see an increased security presence. Reports say the 28yearold was also carrying an ammunition magazine and a muslim holy book. A woman traveling with him as Paris Police Say the man was not on any terror watch lists. The park can handle about 2,000 visitors at a time which compared to other parks in the area is not a lot. But certainly, people start lining up very early.
