Now to the top story where one man was killed and another seriously injured in a mall shooting. It happened at the florida mall near the jc penney entrance. And as news 6 reporter Shaun Chaiyabhat tells us, one victim ran for help just moments after the gunfire. Reporter deputies say they believe the shooting happened right here on the parking lot. I m going to step out of the way. Attention on a car, right there they say after the shooting one of the victims ran to the left for help towards that front entrance of the jc penney. A shopper saw he had been shop and called upon help. Two shot, one dead and another man ran for his life towards this entrance now covered with a security gate. Deputies say after the shooting in the florida mall parking lot, the 19 year old victim collapsed in front of the west Side Entrance. When deputies rushed to the scene, they found another man dead beside a car. We re trying to figure out if this was self contained or if there was somebody we should be looking for. Reporter they believe the the shooting happened near a car but are not yet entirely sure. Investigators say nobody heard any gunshots or saw any problems before finding the deadly scene. And we re asking anyone that didn please call the crime line for the Sheriff S Office. Reporter shoppers didn t think anything was wrong nithey walked outside and was directed to other exits. I just got out of jc penney and asked folks what happened and apparently there were shootings. I thought testify a secure place. This Morning Police say a man that shot a cocoa Business Owner is in custody. They say fischer shot a tax office owner over a tax refund on wednesday. The owner fought back to get the gun and that was shot several times. A bullet went through the wall and hit a man in a neighboring businessment everyone is expected to survive. In Flagler County an inmate is on the run after escaping from work release. Police are searching for james booth. They say he vanished from his job in investigator but investigators believe booth and two others crashed a car in deputies tracked down a woman believed to have been in the car, but they re still looking for booth and another man. Meanwhile this morning still no sign of another inmate that vanished from his job in volusia county. He s been on the run for 2 weeks now. They think he s with his girlfriend and her 3 year old son. This morning the zika virus battle in Central Florida hits social media. Osceola county is taking action after reporting its first case of the mosquito borne virus. The county tweeted out this flier urging everyone to keep to prevent mosquito bites including using repellent and draining standing water. An unbelievable rescue in Brevard County. We re now hearing from the brave men who saved an elderly couple after getting trapped in their sinking house boat. News 6 reporter talks to the heroes whose dramatic rescue might not have happened if not for their incredible timing. Reporter i just want you guys to see a couple of things here. Here is debris from the house boat. Something that looks like a chair here and other debris scattered out and then here, the glass. The glass from the broken window they were saved from and if you look right into the water, that is that house boat capsized. The two hepros who saved them just come to check on the boat and if they hadn t, we d be telling a much different story. Oh, my god. There was someone in there. Reporter the wind purned the boat into the sea wall with waves crashing at the door as the winds rip off the deck and inside an elderly couple. Saw an elderly man on the back of the boat. Reporter call it luck or incredible timing but these two were driving by at 1 in the morning, stopped to check out the boat, ended up risking their own lives to try to save the man and woman inside. It was tough at the time to coax them out but they weren t moving. Quickly they called 911, took joe s jeep and tied a rope to help stabilize the boat. Officers arrived, broke a window first pulling out the man. He falls and is rushed to the side. All while that boat is sinking. Joe and jason look back on the wreck grateful they were able to help but not taking on the title hero. Just the right place in the right time to help out our fellow man.
