>> 15 inches of rain and a storm surge are possible. reporter ryan kruger shows us how many people and businesses are bracing in myrtle beach, south carolina. >>reporter: the waves in myrtle beach attract millions of people every year. the same waves are now entering the town. buildings along the famous boardwalk are boarded up. the beach is a lonely place. >> and having it to myself. >>reporter: robin man lives 2 miles from the shore but is not in the evacuation zone. after living in california for most of her life hits her first taste of a hurricane. >> i'm not nervous given that i survived the storm last year were 21 inches of rain that caused all the flooding. >>reporter: the weather service is forecasting more than 1 foot of rainfall in the next 36 to 48 hours and wind mac will be a factor with because reaching 78 mph. it is the rainfall and flash flooding that could be the most >> the storm surge will be the biggest problem. it will cause some damage. >>reporter: businesses and let -- and neighbor stock up on supplies and a few of them came to take one last look at the water before hurricane matthew comes to town. >> we are hunkered down and feel confident, we are 3 floors often across the intercoastal. >>reporter: downed trees could be a major factor, rain and the ground will be saturated along with the heavy wind burst the trees could topple easily. ryan have stayed offshore throughout the day today as well. as we look ahead the wind surge will move northward. the high winds to move up the coastline into carolina as we start the day tomorrow. eventually it looks like the wins will abate somewhat, a lot of power outages still to come for coastal georgia and south carolina. the low country will feel low and then there is the rainfall that they were talking about with 5 to 10 inches potentially are still getting rain at this point. there is a look at the storm surge that is still to come and it will continue to move northward. when we talk about storm surge it is simply the onshore flow with the storm as the wins -- wind mac comes around. it pulls this around and pulls the wind around so you get this water pushed inland. water flooding could make things nasty. it has been a long time since the area has been hit this hard and we will continue to monitor all of that from our sister station in jacksonville. >> thank you betsy wind and the rain, it is also when the floodwaters rise. encourage everyone here to keep and support great organizations like the red cross, samaritan's purse, and others. even as we speak they are coming alongside the families.>> he also said thank you to first responders that are working to keep other safe. hillary clinton will be back in ohio on monday. she visited columbus where she was urging them to vote. this comes a day after the second presidential debate that sister station, msnbc. friends, family, and community members came out to say goodbye to andre jackson, the 17-year-old euclid football player who died after being hit in the game. his funeral will be tomorrow morning at 10 am at starlight testing -- baptists church in cleveland he died from an intestinal tear. as greg tells us there are some closures that you need to know about for the weekend. >> if you are traveling into downtown cleveland it will involve a 90 westbound to a 77 southbound and will close at 7 pm and continue through saturday evening. a big detour and no other way to get around but to take 71 s. two 176 two 24 two 480 eastbound. it will take you several extra also close this weekend and it will be an easier detour, it's the on ramps from 70 72i-90 and it closes at 10 pm and stays closed until 3 pm on saturday. a much easier detour annual exit on east 14th and take prospect over journalist in cleveland for several years and this came through my food group photo -- food guru of cleveland and he said someone needs to do this so is that it might as well be you. i told people i should be a tour guide of cleveland and >> it certainly works for me. >> you mention a number of things, the west side market here it >> absolutely, that is how we open the book, cleveland has had accolades for our greatest food that this is one of the anchors and in the book i try and mix a lot of the old school ended school -- and new school. looking over the balcony of the west side market and looking down at everyone in all the history. >> when i read this i think wow, i did not know this was here or i am surprised. >> there is 100 of those i like to say. >> any that you can highlight? >> one thing about the book is had the same 100 things to do in pittsburgh or las vegas. we are a music city and i am a music person so i try to incorporate a lot of that. i wanted to do some experiences like behind that -- behind-the- scenes tours. also a behind-the-scenes tour of earthquake or devices, they make a lot of equipment that our bands use and things like that. >> things off the beaten path. >> you mention the food scene one moment ago and we are all very happy about this. cleveland should wait on this line. that is one of the big ones and of course we mix these old- school assignments and we also put in things like coconuts and the french bakery and some contemporary art. >> this is a landmark. there is a and we want to make it a tour of cleveland's and street art tour of cleveland. >> i see the sequel as 100 more things to do in cleveland. >> absolutely. >> i crowd sourced a lot of enough. >> congratulations on the new book and i hope it does well. >> we will see you next time. >> let's talk about whether and it is only 2 weeks into fall but parts of nebraska have seen snow. this fell in the northwest part of the state where temperatures fell. it was not a lot but the high school football field had to be cleared also the game could be played. betsy ac me, no snow i have 100 things to do. >> that is nebraska and that is to close. especially considering the weather we have had. >> will have cloudy skies through the night and midshipman and upper 50s. passing sprinkles possible. all eyes have been on matthew and in the coming days we will continue to monitor the track of matthew and the impact that it has on the area of the southeast united states. in the meantime we have a cold the leading edge of cold air. northwest nebraska has cold air coming in. it is all related to as we go through the day tomorrow you will notice the breezy conditions in the cooler temperatures but i do think that will see some sunshine. we will go hour by hour in the forecast and the clouds are on the increase through the res temperatures in the mid-60s and you can see these scattered showers passing through. maybe a few lingering showers to start the day but the key is that the wind will come around the northwest and it will bring lake erie into play. we could have lake affect sprinkles that linger but more likely than not we will stay dry with clouds coming off the late. new temperatures are only an upper 50s to upper 60 and that is where they will cap off. as far as the high temperature goes they will be in the low then daytime temperatures will have her. >> saturday night into sunday. take a look at what happens as things cool off. heads up here we could have some patchy frost by sunday morning. patchy and isolated areas of frost. areas east will not have as much of a problem and by the afternoon on sunday we will still be dry. rain chances would be at about 10% at this point look at tomorrow's planning, 50s with a sprinkle chance and partly cloudy skies expected through the day. we cannot completely rule out sprinkles in the afternoon thanks to the lake but more likely the lake will be bumpy and bring us cloud cover. waves are 3 to 5 feet and for the rest of the weekend it will be cool. temperatures about 60 on sunday and that 10% chance for a sprinkle. then it is like it never the 60s and 70s next week with more sunshine. >> that looks like stunning fall weather next week. >> the leaves are starting to turn, it is take a drive kind of weather. >> thanks. we are on the buckeye beat as indiana invades tomorrow and we will tell you what urban meyer thinks of the hoosiers up now the window nation sports report. >> way of baseball happening as we speak and the buckeyes are trying to keep their undefeated season going. they play the hoosiers tomorrow. >> it really is unbelievable when you have the cavaliers and the monsters and the indians. the buckeyes will probably be in the playoff. at least we hope so. we will give you an we are in the top of the eighth and the indians lead 6-0. money had a big run in the second and they have only allowed 3 hits. there is high school football tonight and the browns on sunday and then ohio state back at issue in a host indiana. buckeyes are 4-0 and brings second in the country. they be up rockers. the buckeyes have one 20 straight games over the state. they lead the series 71-12 with 5 ties and are favored by 27 points. indiana had a big win over michigan state last weekend. >> this is their best team in that is being respectful. i
