I26 is moving slowly with traffic heading out of asheville area this afternoon on to this evening. Earlier today we saw some heavy rain and there was a major mudslide on the road near here on polk county. White oak Mountain Road was definitely closed. We could not immediately see from the point what the damage was. About a half mile up we could, though. With boulders sliding off the mountain. A dot crew came out and documented it. And then assessed the damage. Trees out of the road. Making sure basically that roads are open if theyre safe to open. I have been cataloging pictures in case we get reimbursement. They have to declare the governor actually has to declare that. Kim there was a smaller mudslide near piney gate road on the saluda grade. Early this afternoon with heavy fog and wet roads. That larger mudslide we showed you, we talked to dot officials out there and they gave an initial estimate for repairs of over 100,000. They haveo bring in special engineers to assess what kind of repairs need to be made. Asking us when the rain would stop. What Alice Bradley did in the face of danger was nothing short of remarkable. On the last day of school at south macon elementary, in the routine before the ride, bus driver Alice Bradley.
