Our sister station has the details. The keyless ignition is supposed to be convenient. They replace traditional keys so you can get in your car, press a button and drive but a lawsuit alleges keyless ignitions have caused the deaths of 13 people across the nation. Were suing on behalf of drivers with keyless fob ignition systems that dont have an automatic shut off. Drivers who take the key fob with them but leave the vehicle without manually shutting off the engine dont realize that dangerous emissions can build up in the home without anyone noticing until its too late. People are dying, two people died just within the past two months. We want the auto makers to fix that defect. And we want them to do it now. The lawsuit also points out that some Car Manufacturers have already installed an automatic engine shutoff, in some vehicles, but not in others. What i dont understand is why would the automaker put the auto shutoff on a 2013 vehicle and the consumer is safe but not in the 2012 vehicle. And the consumers at risk. A spokesman for the Auto Alliance that represents gm, and 11 other automakers said he was unable to comment on this litigation. Liz gonzalez, news 4 new york. And then this one, just to the north seems to be weakening. Its moving southward. Its libertiville and gardener. It seems to be weakening now. This is part of a cold front drifting southward through our area. More showers and storms through the area tonight. Most of whats out there will dissipate and go away. Theyll start to weaken and move out of the area. And then well be leftover with clouds overnight. This front is going to stall over us. We may see a few thunderstorms in the morning over queens and Nassau County and even the city, too. Look at this, out towards brooklyn and maybe the rockaways and the city, as well. This is at 9 00. See how isolated this is, though . This is it. This could be a big downpour and a big problem for the morning commute. As we go through the day, because that fronts going to be sitting here for a bit, there will be a few more popping off through portions of central new jersey, near princeton and then, later in the afternoon, over western new jersey, very isolated cases, but could bring some heavy downpours in the spots in the morning and evening commute. He knows he didnt ask the right questions, and tonight the information moms and dads with small kids need to hear. Its video our viewers remember well. A teacher seen on camera pushing a little girl to the ground. Your heart sinks when you see Something Like that happen to your child. He is now suing the schools and the teacher who pushed his daughter. As is the family of the little girl seen in the second video obtained exclusively by the news 4 iteam. The teacher in red, identified as kelly dugan is sitting and holding the 2yearold girl by her legs. The person who took the video, doesnt want to show her face. But says the childs screams are etched in her memory. She continues to yell at the child until she swings the child over the fence and appears to drag her back inside. This video was taken on a different day than the first one. Cory stern represents that girls family. The fact there was more than one child involved and they came over a period of time, indicates there may be a practice. And if theres a practice in a school thats unlicensed because of the laws in the state of new jersey the court has an obligation to make sure it doesnt happen to someone elses child. She is not licensed by the state. Its also not accredited by the society. Its one of about 600 schools in new jersey that can care for infants and children. But are not subject to the strict rules and regulations that govern the child care industry. We had no idea. I think you go along to a facility like this and you, you expect that theyre operating in full public view. They must be licensed. If youre going to an unlicensed center. Youre taking such a gamble. Lynette is Vice President of the new Jersey Child Care association and also owns the future generation Early Learning center. The iteam asked what sort of scrutiny she faces as a licensed day care operator. Youre making sure your staff child ratio is intact. Youre attending a certain amount of staff training, youre making sure that Health Procedures are followed. She must pass inspections. The owners of apple montisory declined requests for an oncamera interview offering a statement instead. Saying that the owners took immediate and definitive action. And that they have reviewed and reinforced training procedures. They have also fired five employees, including the two teachers in the videos. An update to the news weve been following since 5 00. A small plane crash. Lets get the latest. Whats the latest out there . Reporter we have a good look at this plane as its right here resting in those trees. You can see as we zoom in. It is broken up into pieces. Luckily, the good news here, the two people inside that plane, they are alive, and they are now at the hospital. Unclear at this point how extensive their injuries are. Heres what we know right now. Authorities tell us they received a multiple 911 calls about this plane going down around 4 45 this afternoon. Its a Coast Guard Auxiliary plane. And were told the job is to do patrols in the air. It started experiencing problems and it checked in with the tower at laguardia airport, according to police, the pilot actually wanted to land this plane in the hudson river. Instead, circled back around and decided to land here in the field. I talked to one witness in the pool that you guys mentioned right next to this field and he said he saw this plane flying low. It seemed a little concerning because that plane was so quiet. The next thing he knew, that plane was in the bushes. He says he ran over to it, trying to check on those people. He said they were conscious and they were talking. And thats when they were rushed to engelwood hospital. We talked to several witnesses on the ground, and heres more of what they have to say. I was working, looking out the window. My fellow worker turned around and said, look, theres a plane coming at us. We looked up and it was heading right for the senior building across the way. And it turned on its side a little bit and disappeared behind the building. All of a sudden, it just went lower than the trees, and you couldnt see it anymore. It looked like he tried to put it down on the field. There was nothing he could do. And here is a birds eye view of chopper 4 of that plane. Again, inside those bushes, the good news, again, two people the pilot and another person in that Coast Guard Auxiliary plane, they are alive, they are at the hospital, well get an update about their condition as soon as we have it. But certainly, this is a big field, luckily it wasnt crowded, but a lot of witnesses to this as it is a park. A lot of people here and still wondering exactly what happened. Live here, brynn gingras. And one was charged in two home invasions, four others charged with assaulting a group of people in a fight that left a man with a broken jaw. The charges are the latest blow to a program whose head coach is embroiled in an academic investigation. Brian thompson is live with more on this. Brian . Reporter stunning is the right word for all of this. Four current players accused of an unprovoked assault on a fellow student. Thats the one with the broken jaw. A fifth player charged with being part of a ring of home invade in invaders invaders. And in the middle of both, there is a former player from last years squad who had just been cleared of robbery and Assault Charges down in egg harbor. That, including an assault of an accusation he had choked a woman. When the rutgers team runs down that chute saturday, five team members wont be there. Students on campus were stunned. Theyre well known if theyre on the football team. Or in the big ten, theyre probably ruining it for everybody else. Especially if theyre starters. Four current players and former player t. J. Johnson are charged with aggravated assault, riot and conspiracy in an unprovoked attack last april. Prosecutors say johnson is also involved in the series of home invasions along with current player andre boggs and three other students. I just think thats a shame on the university. We cant have that affecting our name. We have things going on. And its just sad to see if our athletes just not put at a high standard.
