City records Reporter City workerings er ers appear to show tax dollars paid for this. He tells us his best recollection is he was off the clock that morning and did not bill taxpayers. He says its possible a supervisor billed time on his behalf or that maybe he did city work at another time that day. Records show hanlan clocked in at 5 55 that saturday morning. He clocked out at 2 00 in the afternoon. Video shows him lugging this beer cooler into the mayors the second man is public works supervisor. He worked six hours of over time that saturday. But regards detailing the exact times he worked have not yet been released. Numerous city workers say the hours they billed were only for city business. That jobs like moving the mayors daughter were only personal favors on personal time. Jeffrey williams is one of those men. Documents show he worked 25 hours straight before spending hours helping the mayor move boxes at a storage facility. A second property, a business linked to the mayors nephew, two city workers tell us the mayor directly asked them to do construction there on nights and weekends. The plan, to open a beer distribution business. One worker described a big job, saying he did a lot of work free of charge. They said they considered it social time with the mayor and a few times video shows city trucks coming in and out of the site. Ethics rules state no government officer or employee shall use his official position to secure unwarranted privileges or advantages for himself or others. We asked former federal prosecutor robert ray for his opinion about the tapes involving the mayor. That highest ranking official in that city has the ability to call on favors and to get people to do things in government they wouldnt otherwise do. Thats a misuse of power. Its not only a question of use of Government Resources and taxpayer money, but its an abuse of power. The iteam got these tapes from private investigator harry. I was going to watch and reporter one tape shows the city mechanic washing the mayors scooter and doing work on a car. He says the city is never billed for this work. Ive been working on his bike even before it was the mayor. It was my personal time. Reporter another city worker seen at the mayors house is recorded five separate times in as many months. On two of those days, records show the city was billed extra hours. But the exact times he worked have not yet been released. He told us by phone work listed on his time sheets is only for city business. He said the mayor paid him out of his pocket for personal work. With this story about to break, the mayor told a local newspaper he paid city workers 50 to build shelves in his daughters room.
