Last day to pay the toll. If you have to pay the toll with this mail from now on. And we do have spots of rain continuing to push through the tristate. Heres a look at your current temperatures right now. In princeton and howell its 61. 62 in red bank. And its 62 in woodbridge. As you had ed to the north and west it is cooler. 52 in monticello. A mother battling cancer given the opportunity to see her son marry the woman he loves. We get the story from Stoney Brook University hospital where memories were made that will last forever. Reporter kathryn holm brought a dress for her sons wedding in puerto rico before doctors gave her news she couldnt travel. Flying just too much of a risk for her compromised immune system. I am, like, overwhelmed that theres people that would do things like this. Reporter but nurses at the bone Marrow Transplant unit at the hospital decided the party they organized this wedding in the hospitals chapel. Ill never forget what theyve done for me and my family. Reporter christina, a fellow patient, served as an unofficial wedding planner. I think its absolutely amazing that they got to have the wedding here. Because there was no other option. Reporter now, you wont find any wedding gifts here but there is a request from the family for people to get tested for the bone marrow registry. It is a simple procedure. Only 2 of our nation is on the registry right now. Its important for those to join it. Reporter without a match this family knows the odds are not on kathryns side. Its just the greatest thing anybody could do for us. My mom means a lot. Reporter but on this wedding night, the tears mostly come from joy and hope for happy days ahead. Bride. Very nice family. Was great to be with them the other night for that. What a lovely story. And its so true, its so easy to do that simple swab for a bone Marrow Transplant. And the procedure itself, i was talking to the nurses there, it is far less invasive than it used to be. I think people have some preconceptions of getting tested and what donating is. Its a much less invasive procedure. And the need is a great one. All right. Lots of prayers and hope she gets that donation. Great story, gus. Still ahead on this saturday morning, a warning for parents. The toys that could contain lead ten times greater than the federal safety limits. Are they in your home . And someone is very or should i saber say berry excited. Produce pete. I look forward to bringing you an item on the saturday show. That is in season, taste, and availability. This hits on both. The taste is great right now. Theres plenty of them here. But the availability in some stores is not there. So coming up next, all you want to know about seasons finest blackberries. They are outstanding. You have to taste this. This is really good. What do you think . Sweet like sugar. All right. That means its time to ask produce pete. Good morning. Youre on your feet youre on your feet im standing today. I dont know how long. If i go down, youre going to get me. I got you. Were talking blackberries. Thats right. Probably most of the year know out there that youve been in the supermarket, youve been in the green grocers and you say what happened to the price of berries . Its gone through the roof. Not just strawberries. Blueberry ies blueberries, blackberries, raspberries. Whats going on . Whether in the sections theyre coming out right now have been not that good. So what happens is it caused them to raise the prices. Supply and demand equals the price. So remember folks, in produce what goes up will always come down. Thats right. Erica just mentioned to me the supermarket i noticed there were blueberries and the price was sky high. Last year they were probably in the 3. 99 range. And now theyre probably 8. 99. Problem is theres no supply right now. But of all the berries, youre going to see strawberries stay high. But youre going to see blueberries start to come down. Within the next couple of weeks youll see that price fall. Thats when ill wait to buy them then. This to me is the finest of all of it. Like i said in the tease, i always want to get an item for you but i like the season to be longer. I like the availability. And i always like it to be good tasting. There is Nothing Better than these blackberries. Or all the berries, the blackberry is the least one that we buy in the stores. Why . Because its sour, usually, most of the time. Youll see that blackberries come out of our area and even mexico from may, june, july, and then youll see blackberry ies all winter long. Problem is they dont leave them on the vine long enough. Goes from green to purple then to a deep black. Thats when theyre really good. The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice, right . But what happened with blackberries is that usually they have that crunch and theyre usually sour. This is what we call seasons finest out of mexico. Where will you find them . Listen, youll find them in some of the supermarkets in your area. Listen, folks. You are the one that determines what they carry. If you dont see them in your supermarket, ask for them. Season is very short. Youll only see these the end of april and probably right through to may. Maybe five or six weeks. But listen. Youve been eating these, right . Since i got over here. This is like eating a piece of candy. Theyre terrific. You all right . This is like eating a piece of candy. Distribution, so its hard. Youll see them in the manhattan food exchange. Youll see them in a bunch of markets around. But if you dont see them, ask for them. Im telling you, theyre not going to be cheap or theyre not going to be inexpensive. Theyre going to be higher in price. But theyre always a little higher than they usually are. Burr res right now are being higher and higher for price. Dont let the berry price fool you. What goes up must come down. Youll see berry ies start to get a little more reasonable. This is a berry that youre going to find this berry in the stores. If not, youre going to ask for them and bring them home and say that guy knows a little bit about produce. You know what . Hell find them. A little bit. Theyre out there and available. Because before we lee, i have to say a belated 90th birthday to ferry. Now, mrs. 90. 90. It was her birthday last week. Shes a family friend. My wife betty and her daughter have been friends since they were little babies. And i know her as long as ive been going out with betty. Over 58 years. Every time i come home after the show, shes the first call. Pete, you did a good job. Shes a little biased. But we want to wish you another years. Happy birthday, mrs. Ferry. Good to see you on your feet, pete. Im here. Im available. Heavy in the hands. Thats right. Try these. Im telling you i have been trying them. Delicious. Thanks. And send your questions to pete producepete. Com. Hes on twitter as well. Gus, over to you. Hes everywhere. Thank you very much. Theres a lot more ahead on coverage of our top story.
