You know what its like as a new mom. Seems like you never have time to get to the gym so instead on simply resolving to lose weight which i promise myself ill nnver do again im spending the month talking with the best and the brightest in tbe fitness world about how to get in shape and state motivated. When it comes to getting into shape, its often the excuses, nowt the pounds, that weigh us as much as i try to get to the gym, these two little ones make my goal of getting there a little harder. So as a start today rookie i needed a guru and who better than a fellow mom and a fellow jenna, wolf, that is. Last january she helped selfproclaimed jim hater and carb lover jeff rossen drop 15 pounds, with some sweat and four guidelines. Drink 20 sips of water in the morning, start a food diery. Walk 10,000 steps a day and cut simple carbs after 6 00 p. M. Tips that are now in jennas new book, t wnner in 30 inspired by her own quest to lose weight after becoming a mom. I looked in the mirror and it was an unrecognizable person. I was always of the mindset, ill lose all the weight in one day and get right back in shape one day and now for the first time it wasnt going to happen in one day, it was going to take time. After the second baby i have scary and i feel like a lot of moms probably feel that way. A lot of people probably feel that way its terrifying. Its absolutely terrifying. We fail to remember that we didnt gain all this weight in a day. We cant lose all the weight in a day so she came up with the book 30 day plan, one simple change each day which i got a sample of. Ow yourself. Its possible to move when you dont have time to go to the gym, whatever it is, can you do it on an airplane. Even in an elevator. Hopefully nobody enters. We eat fast. We move foot of. I want you to spend this month chewing each bite of food 20 times. Now your appetite is catching up to where your brain is and youre realizing youre full cause youll save calories per meal. If i thought jenna wolfe will let me escape with some foodchewing dips i was sorely mistaken. Heres the deal. Those are the first couple of tips. Three ti es a week. One of my excuses, and ive told you this. Ima dont have thehtime. Im overwhelmed. Im going back to work. I have these two kids. What do i do. Give 20 minutes, even when your baby is taking a nap. A nap. Hold that stomach nice and tight. Gage your core. This doesnt look hard but it is. Squeeze your gluts ever time up. Feels better than it looks. Looks had a little strange. Nine, niee. Why do you say nine twice . Right where momma made me. This is the jenna before and after. Got to find a way to do as much as can you with the life that you currently have, and if it means working out on the go or while youre warming a baby bottle up or doing laundry, whatever it is. If you can do three minutes at a time a couple times a day, still 1,000 times better than doing nothing. I love the slowmo workout shoots. Jenna squeeze your glutes many and to our other 30. This jenna needs to squeeze her abs hager. Its a great tip for ev erybody. Both of you, me, too, all had babies and then you find yourself trying to get back into shape. What was the hardest for you, jenna, because we all thought you came back and looked like you always do in. No heard. Its discipline. Combining the way you eat and move. Its not one or the other. Its one and the other. Someone says it takes nine months to put it on. Etakes nine months to take it off. Pommy is four months. Trying to figure out how to be a mom which jenna gave me advice on, how to be a mom for two and still take care of myself and thats okay. She says youve got to put yourself first and thats a hard thing to do. Recently found out that some people have three babies which i cant even imagine. Two is driving us up the wall, but you have to work with what you have. Got three takeaways. Thats what you need to work with. Good takeaways of number one is reward yourself. A great way to do things. Make a deal with yourself. If i skip dessert three times this week or if i get to the gym four times this week or if i do 100 pushups in a day ill get a noupnfoodbased reward, a ma sam, ipod that i wanted to buy, something i dont really afford. Studies show if you make a deal burst, if you reward yourself with things, youre more antito go out and do it and work out and do the things you wanted to do. Do you have another one . Yes, t second tip. Super strict planning. Open up the phone, meeting, take the kids to school, conference calls. Put workout in there. Want to hang out at 3 00, have something at 3 00. Thats when youll work out. Stick to it and youll do ac. Lastly . Anything is better than thing. Five minutes over the course of a couple of times a day like we talked about in the piece. If you dont have 60 minutes a day, better than nothing and when you get to the day when you dote have a full 60 minutes youre not having to start from scratch. Do these three things a lot with i promise you youll get healthy. A bagel for breakfast, days over. Ill just start january 1st. And i would reward myself with a big thing of ice cream. Not the thing. Good morning, realizings that im wearing a similar outfit. This must be my goto dress. Exactly. What i loved about each and every story in this book is the courage people had to switch giarrusso were going to tell you a story of a couple who took a sharp turn at age 51 surprising even themselves. If you dont like how things are done, change it. Youre not a tree. You have the ability to totally ansformer area in your life, and it all begins with your very own power of choice. This is a book about people who make choices. They said, you know what. Im actually going to shift everything and try to go this way, and i think because the path of least resistance is the easiest way tonight. I think these people are braver than that. So when i met the couple who adopted kids later in life, you like they did that and they say they couldnt imagine what their life was like before that. This whole notion of being a father was something that i had considered but i had considered it in a negative sense, that it was just something i wasnt going to do because t didnt think i was suited for it, and so for me to be able to look over the fence at a pla ceike haiti and consider this idea of becoming a father at 51 was a radical departure from what i efought was my normal or what i wanted. I remember walk into my very first orphanage. When i was in the midst of that orphanage and then even walking away from that orphanage there was this this this voice, is thing saying do something. Now, at the time i wasnt exactly sure what the something was, but the obvious do something was to adopt one or two or in our case three of i believe that we are exactly where we belong. This everything in my past, in craigs past, even in our childrens past, was shaped for where we are right now. I like living here because i have a loving family, a brother, sister, a mom, a dad. An orphanage and a home is realy different. Here you get to experience, you know, love with your family, and tha ey are always building you up. Im thankful for a roof over my head, loving and giving family. A brother and sister, mim and dad, and and all the support i get. When you watch these people and what they have done with their lives and the risks they have taken, you realize that sometimes its highrisk, high reward, you know. Some people risk a lot, but they ended up exactly where they were meant to be. Talking to you, pay attention. Pay attention. And the cool thing, you guys, about everybody in this book, some are everyday people like the juntenuns and some celebrities and they all took a ring. You all want to change things and it makes you feel that way. We all think about it. Yeah. And just to actually get off your butt and do it takes, as you say, takes a lot of guts. It does. Hand a lot of people are changing jobs, and they said if youre afraid to switch jobs because you have a mortgage and all these things they said put 10 of your time and 10 of your money towards the thing you love, and little by little you might be able to head in that direction but you can put your e in the water. Well talk about the resombtion for this year in a second. How are you feeling . I feel i feel really good. I have a lot of great things going on in my life, and and ive managed to keep the weight off and thats a good thing. Mi i was looking back at some of the interviews weve done in the past and i always seem to ask you when youre here, you say youve kept it off now. Yeah. And then you always seem to have some kind of struggle, just like millions of americans. Thats because youre the devils advocate. Thank you. Youre welcome. So im the cause of the roller coaster. That made mt gain weight. Thats not true. Im just saying, you know, if you could just come along on my team and say i know youre going to keep this off forever. I know you. O theres matt i love. I have absolutely confidence that this will be permanent. I sort of feel the same way. Whats worked this time . Well, it was a combination of things. What i realized about myselfsy really need to be held accountable for things, because i have a tendency to go sort of wild. Food is one f those things where i can go sort of wild so im a spokesperson for jenny craig. Right. And when you do jenny craig everybody gets a personal consultant, everyone, and just that going in every week, hi, weighing in and having some accountability is the big secret for me. Success is such a motivator, i would imagine. Yes. One of the things ive noticed on air is youve got a great new cheers by the way, may have told you once or twice, one of my favorite sgloes sglok and theres a mini reunion. 50 pounds down thanks to jenny crowd. Last time i saw a beauty like you i was dreaming. Yeah, i was dreaming. And i love the yummy food. I dont have to count, track or wory. Speaking of counting one more. So good to see cliffy and norm back. Was it fun to do it . Oh, it was it was amazing. It was a combination of things. When the jenny craig people asked me would i do this, i said, well, yehiah, id do it, but is the set going to look real and they assured me it were lock fantastic. Whllen we walked only the set it was like a cross between the Twilight Zone and were in a time machine, you know, and to see the guys sitting there just as funny as are and im sort of the straight mannthe commercial but thats okay. Ld, but, i mean, it was like we were right back in it. In fact, i thought w dont we just do this again. I hope you do it again. It would be fun. You look great. For some reason i lost haul this weight, lost 50 pounds and this ar ive been offered three roles nude and im not kidding, three roles. Now dish didnt do nudity what i whaat is 28 and i wont do nudity now. I think thats sort of supposed to be a comedy bit. I was sort of nude in a hot turks i said i wasnt going to be and t n you know, the pasties float off and im nude in the hot tub so i think i dont want to do porn or nudity in 2016. Thats my goal. Thats where you really get him to answer a question without the standard, you know, list of points that they like to hit, but the strategy is really to keep bill clinton locked in until they are ready i guess to unleash. So revealing and so powerful. Number two is a tie between tlc which is cutting down on high cholesterol diet. Great job. You only eat when the channel is on. I and then theres that not the case cutting high cholesterol and also the mind diet which focuses on preventing alzheimers disease, eating grain healthy foods, a lot of the mono unsat rated good fats in your diet, the dash diet, focuses on lowering high Blood Pressure by cutting back on salt, eating more vegetables, whole grains, eliminating sweets, red meat. Thats from the mayo clinic. I havent heard of any of these, not a one of them. Not heard of any of these. Because you havent been needing to diet, i suppose, right . Youve got a good thing going. Reporter its the story of steven avery, a man who served 18 years in prison for rape until he was exonerated by dna evidence, but four years after his release he was convicted of murder there isa halback in 2005. I didnt do it. What do it . I dont know. The attention of filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and moira demos. Really throughout the entire series it was a question of how is the american criminal Justice System functioning . Is it delivering on its promises of truth and justice, and we thought steven avery would be an amazing window through which to look at the system. The documentary casts doubt on some of the evidence accused to convict avery in his murder trial, including the confession by averiess 16yearold inch u, codefendant boyfriend ann dassey. Who shot her in the head . He did. Why didnt you tell us that . Because i couldnt think of it. Some recompense. One of averys attorneys at his murder trial tried to show that avery was framed by local Law Enforcement. The system that allowed his conviction on this evidence was a system that did not do honor beyond a reasonable doubt. It ended in the hands. The prosecutor in the case says the series left out significant evidence against avery that was included in the trial, saying in part that any claim avery was framed, quote, is irresponsible and inconsistent with a consideration of all the evidence presented. The filmmakers support any steps to bring justice and closure, particularly for the woman who was murdered. Our goal going in was always to start a dialogue, and im suowre you know, a piece of that dialogue is peoples desire to have, you know, more information about what happened to teresa h ha lback, and if somebody find more information, i think thats a good thing. I think thats what she deserves. Laura ricciardi and moira demos produced and wrote and directed making a murderer and have news to share about the case. Thanks for joining us. In hour last hour you were speaking about a juror in the case where steven avery was convicted of murder and that what can you tell us about that. Sure. The juror contacted us directly and told us that the verdicts in stevens trial were a compromise. That was the actual word that the jury used and went on to describe the jurors ultimately trading votes in the jury room and explicitly discussing if you vote guilt on this count, i will vote not guilty on this count, so that was a significant reve tion. Thats a very serious charge, obviously, moira, one that could turn the case on its head. Have you been able to independently verify that say with another juror . Weve not spoken to other jurors. This juror reached out directly to us. They told us really that they were afraid that if they held out for a mistrial that it would be easy to identify which juror had done that, and they were fearful for thepr own safety, and what they explained to us was they believed that if there was a split verdict like this, to the appellate courts, and they thought that steven would get a new trial. That was sort their plan. Oh. But obviously it didnt work out that way. Laura, willie and i were talking over the holidays. Suddenly you go on social media and everyone from celebrities to your neighbors are tweeting and on facebook talking about this. Did you ever anticipate that this would turn into this phenomenon as it is now . No. I mean, we never could have anticipated or even dreamed of the type of response theres been to thi series. Were really thrilled about it and appreciative of everyone tuning in, you know, and taking to social media to discuss it. I mean, were really excited about the Public Discourse that its generated. There are petitions now, in icluding one on whitehouse. Gov getting tens of thousands of people signing up. Do you thi anything will change in this case based on what you all have produced . I mean, i think because t ere is a dialogue now and more somebody who has information might feel safer could come forward at this point. I think it will depend on new evidence being brought to light. Just lastly what, is it about these true crimes from serial to discovery i. D. What do you think hit had a nerve with people . I think people are interesteded in whether our Public Institutions are functioning properly and to the extent they are fwhoot can be done about it. Its fascinating.
