Yesterday 10 reports of tornadoes. That low pressure will move up to our north and west and it will swing a cold front our way and there is a risk that we will see some thunderstorms bubbling up ahead of that. That could turn severe. Break it down as far as the risks. The biggest risk with these storms would be damaging winds, wind gusts up to 60 Miles Per Hour. Looks like a moderate risk south of philadelphia. The jet stream could help provide those winds. A low risk around philadelphia and areas up to the north and as far as hail just a low risk south of wilmington and this really is the first time were looking at the threat of Severe Weather. A low risk of an isolated tornado but there is a possibility, a slight chance best chance would be south of our region but again a slight possibility. Although i dont know any of the details i have to say that hazing is always unacceptable. Surprising because i havent really heard about any other hazing incidents here so its a big deal to hear about it. The womens Softball Team played a game today at George Mason University this as the university launched an internal investigation into the hazing. Sources say freshmen players were forced to consume alcohol, perform sexual acts involving inappropriate touching and lap dances and do other acts that are too graphic to outline here. Jake is a freshman lacrosse player. Our coaches are very strict about it. They dont want us doing anything like that so i havent experienced it. Reporter players were allegedly given written instructions in a note from upperclassmen essentially telling them this is deliverance week that the time has come for them to show respect. Two suspects are in custody after a double shooting outside of a house party in north philadelphia. Happened around 1 30 this morning here on the 2200 block of park avenue. This is near temple university. Police say neither the victim nor the suspected shooters were temple students. Officials say there were at least a hundred people inside the house when the fight broke out. It spilled onto the street and thats when the shots were fired. Al 19yearold victim is in Critical Condition tonight. A 23yearold victim is in stable condition. Two suspects are in custody but no charges have been filed. In kentucky nearly 200 firefighters spent the day battling an inferno at the General Electric plant in louisville. People living within 2 miles were told to stay inside because of the thick black smoke. At one point some of the walls collapsed and it was all caught on camera. This fire started inside one building at ges massive appliance park. Production had to be shut down across the entire complex which employs thousands of people. The Company Makes a range of appliances at the facility including washing machines, drivers and refrigerators. Investigators believe the flames may have been sparked by lightning. No injuries have been reported so far. That fire started in the same area that was hit with flooding today. This video is a view from one mans backyard covered in water. You can also see the smoke from his house. Early this morning emergency crews made more than 160 rescues, mostly drivers who got stuck. Some vehicles became trapped on the highways and entire neighborhoods were covered in waste deep water. Computer based facial recognition. Now, the police still had to do the leg work but they say that this system that measures bio metrics of the face gave them a very solid lead. Monday this attack of a 60yearold man occurred on septas 15 street el platform. The 60yearold here on the left is allegedly targeted by an unknown younger man in blue as the pair argued righty riding the train. Septa detectives took a still of that video of the man in blue and uploaded it to a Law Enforcement facial recognition database. That contains among other things mug shots and pennsylvania drivers licenses. Captain Darrell Jones is with septa. It compares 40 million images from pennsylvania. Reporter in this weeks case the facial Recognition Software fed back multiple likely matches. Among them a 16yearold well call john jones. After we ran the facial Recognition Software we came up that it was possibly john jones. The percentage was so high in this case it was only 97 percent. We were going to talk to john jones and find out where his whereabouts was where he was at a particular time, find tout that person may have had a trans pass. Reporter the captain says that about that time Anonymous Sources also identified the 16yearold. Soon there was an arrest warrant for the attack. Since 9 11 theres been a quest for accurate facial recognition. Video from the Nec Corporation a top developer of systems illustrates the ideal for certain secure sites of capturing facial images of you know known individuals also a they pass, quickly comparing bio metric elements, eyes, nose, chin with known images in a database. The system septa uses is not realtime but is a big time safer. If they have an image they dont have to wait for a tip call. It is speeded investigations up from taking days to get someone to call in to give us a tip to taking sometimes minutes to hours to be able to identify or get a starting point on an investigation. Reporter facial recognition, not of the stuff of Science Fiction anymore. Septa has used it in the past. They will likely use it in the future. Police in milford looking for the man who robbed a pnc bank. They gave us surveillance pictures of him and the car he was driving. The heist happened yesterday around 4 00 oclock at the branch on north dupont highway. Police say the man flashed a gun and passed a note to the teller demanding money. He left the bank with cash walked to a nearby mcdonalds got into a car and drove off. Police are asking anyone who recognizes him to give them a call. In wilmington, police are trying to find the person who shot a man several times near the intersection of seventh and west street. This happened just after 10 30 this morning. Investigators say the victim who is in his 20s was shot in the face, the chest and the abdomen. He was rushed to christiana hospital where hes listed in Critical Condition. Two people are hospitalized after this Early Morning crash in southwest philadelphia. Just after 4 00 a. M. Near island and woodlynne avenue a car crashed into a pole shearing in it half. The car struck another pole trapping both the female driver and the male passenger. Both will to be cut from the vehicle and rushed to presbyterian hospital. Injuries are not considered lifethreatening. No word on what caused the crash and whether any charges will be filed. Theres new backlash against antimuslim ads that appear on dozens of septa buses. Americans average 83 trips a year to the supermarket spending a total of 5,400 and more than half that money goes toward fresh food but just how fresh is the food you serve to your family and what do you really get your moneys worth . Consumer reports rated 68 supermarkets across the can country on the quality of their fresh food based on a survey of nearly 63,000 of its readers. We asked about the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, store prepared foods and baked goods as well as things like cleanliness, staff courtesy and prices. Reporter only about 60 percent are highly satisfied with the quality of their stores poultry and meat and only half are happy with their stores prepared food and bakery options. Walmart Super Centers scored near the bottom of the ratings for freshness and most other categories except price. It all came about with a second look at the bullets found at the scene of the crime. 58yearold ray hinton was convicted of the 1985 murders of two men in birmingham. Well, he was sent to prison based largely on evidence from bullets. But new testing showed the bullets could not be connected to hinton an overjoyed and emotional hinton was met with hugs from family and friends as he walked out of prison today. I want to say to the victims family, i will continue to pray for you just as i have for 30 years a miscarriage of justice not only to me but to the victim. For all that say we believe in justice, this is the case to start showing it because i shouldnt have sit on death row 30 years. All they had to do was test the gun. His attorneys say hinton will now go home to try and recover from the challenges of 30 years of incarceration.
