Jeff, what are the details here . Reporter jim, the street opened up a few moments ago. The action cam was first on the scene here right after a Police Cruiser that was responding to a call apparently hit a 13yearold boy. You can see from the video that that 13yearold was alert, was conscious and talking with the emergency crews as they strapped him onto a stretcher. He was taken to Hahnemann University hospital. Now, police shut down this very busy roadway here on a friday commute for about a half hour as they investigated. For nearly a decade and a half hes been the heart and soul and face of the citys special victims unit which has become a National Model for how the crimes of sexual abuse, rape and child abuse are handled. The idea of screening applicants for the unit, training them to do the job was lacking. Reporter john darby found the Sex Crimes Unit as it was called then in shambles when he took over 14 years ago. His mission was to reinvent it completely and to build credibility with the public at large and activists as well. Showers and thunderstorms moving through the area. Yweve got some wild weather the next few days. It starts with a line of thunderstorms. Storm tracker6 live double scan showing that its pushing east across our viewing area pretty quickly. Its moving through the northwest suburbs and it really is knocking on the door of philadelphia right now. Weve got this line, the most intense part of it right over chadds ford. Three lightning strikes with some heavy downpours so southwest philadelphia olney, north philadelphia, center city frankford and south philadelphia really rolling here between now and 6 40 and this line extends farther up to the north where we did have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning posted earlier. That has been discontinued but still weve got 21 lightning strikes moving through lansdale, worcester, doylestown, up towards new hope and this is also moving quickly at about 50 Miles Per Hour. So, through the night on saturday and really the first half of the day, the winds are going to be howling. A high wind watch has been posted for midnight saturday through noon on sunday for wind gusts 50 to 60 Miles Per Hour.
