"action news" reporter, katherine scott is live at special victims unit. katherine, the police say this attack might be linked to some others. >> reporter: that's right, tam, there's been a string of assaults and robberies on and around campuses and university city, the special victims units and southwest detective's have been investigating. last night police caught a man in the act of assaulting a woman they believe he is responsible for multiple attacks in the area including two more that happened near drexel. last night a 38-year-old graduate student got off the bus at 42nd street she walked to 41st and pine when a man struck her in the back of the head with a bicycle lock. the woman fought back, but the attacker dragged her down the street, her books and papers scattered around here, but that's when officers spotted them. >> the officers see the struggle between the male and female and jumped on the male and rescued the female is as she was assaulted by the man. >> reporter: a man assaulted a woman at 41st an is an son. the -- sanson. a student had gotten off a bus on monday and sexually assaulted at 42 and chestnut. andrea davidson got an alert on her cell phone about the assaults. >> it's nice to have an update, they will update us, because i'm walking home by myself at night a lot of time. >> reporter: so police believe the man is behind four, maybe five attacks in the area of university city recently, but this investigation is underway, if you have any information southwest detective's or the special victims want to hear from you, we're live at the special victims unit katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> philadelphia police say a 13-year-old boy is recovering after being shot by two would-be robbers. police say the gunman was trying to rob a 34-year-old man on the porch of a home in wissinoming last night. the man ran inside the house and the suspect opened fire. bullets went through the home and grazed a 1-year-old in the stomach. 3-month-old child inside the house was not hurt. >> happening today, the search for shane montgomery goes on, weather conditions got in the way of search efforts yesterday. the task force looking for the missing west chester university student canvassed the banks of the schuylkill expressway. the search lasted about an hour yesterday morning. police believe montgomery walked into a parking lot along the river and somehow ended up in the water. he was last seen leaving a bar thursday morning. >> we have breaking news right now out of south philadelphia, police are searching a several block area for a home invasion intruder. they say they don't know if the intruder was armed. the victim in this case was not injured. now, this is the 700 block of jackson street. philadelphia police say shortly after 4:30 a.m., less than an hour ago, a man forced his way into the home of the 700 block of jackson street and into a victim's bedroom. the suspect took the victim's pants which contained his wallet and cash. police are searching the area for the accused so far there have been no arrests. activists from camden and other parts of the area will protest reacting to reports of police brutality across the country. more than 50 clergy members will stage a die-in, they will call on authorities to investigate the fatal shootings of michael brown and eric garner. on saturday there's a large rally in washington, d.c. it's called the justice for all march against police violence that's expected to start at noon at freedom plaza. more than 2 dozen police officers are testing new tools of the trade. officers in the 22nd district started wearing body cameras a few weeks back. commissioner ramsey said it's a pilot program but expects to the program to the entire force. it provides transparency and protects against frivolous lawsuits. >> the eagles are two days away from the showdown with the dallas cowboys, we want more of that, hands off the ball, he is down, eagles get their the winds won't be as strong os saturday, we'll have what we call a gentle breeze, more sun mixing with clouds and the high getting up to 42 on saturday afternoon. we're looking at a 40 for a high today brisk and chilly, not as harsh on saturday, similar high of 42, but the winds ease back a little bit. for the eagles sunday night, expect temperatures to start out in the 40s and ends up in the
