Effects of the strong noreaster. They made yesterday a mess all over the region. Still a bit of an issue today knocking out power and flooding the coast and philadelphia the surrounding suburbs peco is reporting 1,307 outages. In new jersey fatlantic City Electric says 1,841 customers are in the dark. But, ats down7,000 and people g in the dark last night. Lets go over to action News Reporter katherine scott. She is live now in Atlantic City and the flood threat isnt over there just yet, katherine. Reporter no tits not, tam. We do see some big difference from yesterday though. The wind has certainly died down. Those gusts were so strong yesterday. There were also heavy rains yesterday afternoon and right now were down a drizzle but you still want to look out for some street flooding right around high tide and you can still see street flooding around Atlantic City and this is one of the spots. Were along atlantic avenue near New Hampshire and this is a flood prone army you can area. You can see debris left in the road and you can see the flooding as its on either side of the street and at the very end it actually covers the street as the waves crash over the bulkhead down at the end there. Association this is something you want to take a look for as t the door this morning. You could see signs of this noreaster across the jersey shore. Those fierce winds that blew through left damage in its wake ripping apart a sign at paviliomotor lodge it took down a traffic light here in Atlantic City. In ocean city, street flooding was a concern that drivers had to look out for. People who normally park in flood prone areas were urged to move their cars. Emergency responders were prepared and ready vehicles and rescue boats at the ready in the event of rising waters. The water was rough. The waves were battering the shore line. Belch erosion wall expected and some actually came out to watch those waves crashing last night. I think this is awesome. Its been great. The wind, theres been trees down. I feel bad for that. Theres actually a car a little bit up the way over here. I know if we pan over, you can see this person did not move their car. Theres still some water at the wheels but it looks like its not super high so hopeful that person, that drivers car is going to be okay but a lot of people did move their cars out of the flood prone areas. There are some delays for schools in this area including the Atlantic CitySchool District so thats something youll want to look out for before you head out the door this morning. The noreaster winds toppled a tree in south philadelphia last night. The branches damaged at least one car and blocked traffic along moyamensing avenue near carpenter street. And a freak accident killed a man during the storm. Officials say the high winds blew a big sign off a building on the 4300 block of old york road in nicetown yesterday. That many ended uended up strika 60yearold man pinning him against a car. He didnt survive that. Flames from that a kitchen fire shot through the roof of a Shopping Center in wynnefield heights. Firefighters quickly knocked down at the blaze inside chung hing chinese restaurant. Nobody was hurt. Building inspectors from checking the property. Two men lure a pizza delivery man in southwest philadelphia shooting him during the holdup. The delivery man was also armed and fired back. Reporter and matt, luckily in this case the victim tthe delivery man is condition at the hospital after he was shot several times. He also had a weapon and did return fire but at this point police dont know if he actually hit any of the men that were trying to rob him. Well, this is video from the scene. This all happened just after 7 oclock last night. The delivery man received an order for two pizzas to be delivered to a home in the 5300 block of yoakum. When he arrived he knocked on the door. Turns out it was al vacant home that was called in for the delivery. Armed men rain out of an adjacent house. They pulled a gun on the delivery man. They tried to rob him of the pizzas and also theaccording tod the pizzas during the truggle is own gun. There was a slight struggle at his car. As they were struggling for the pizzas, the pizzas fell to the ground. The driver tried to flee from the scene. As hes running they fire numerous shots at him hitting him in his left side and also in his left leg and arm. He was able to get back toward his car. He has a permit to carry. Reporter you hear police there saying that he is licensed to c weap now the delivery man actually drove himself to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. He was then transported to penn Presbyterian Hospital where again even with several gun shots he is in stable condition and is expected to be okay. At this point, though, theyre still working on getting descriptions of those armed men. Of course if you have any information, call police. Police in wilmington delaware shot and killed a man who they say attacked them. The confrontation happened on the 1700 block of west 13th street at 6 00 last night. Officers responded to app a disturbance at a house and saw a man jump out of the door with a gun. One officer opened fire shooting the man twice in the chest. No officers were hurt. The fbi has joined the search for three men hoop stole 60,000 worth of merchandise from a high end consignment store. The men were captured on surveillance cam ram inside remix on main street in manayunk last wednesday. One of the men posed as customer. He then pulled a gun and tied Pickup Truck Police officers the suspect then let his two accomplices into the store t the workers were not seriously hurt. As we take a look outside its still a bit breezy out there as well so every now and then our sky6 cameras this morning might show you a little bit of bouncing and jiggling in that wind but the wind advisory and warnings are down from yesterday. Theyre no longer in effect ooh and today is just a little bit more moderately windy and obviously still a bit damp down at the surface at the airport. Your temperature is that cool, 37 degrees right now. Most of this in the mid to upper 30s across the region. The exception would be up in the poconos where its still below freezing and you still have some road issues up there. Winds out of the north at 17 Miles Per Hour. We are still going to get some gusts today but they probably only go up into the 20s most of the time. Now in terms of precipitation theres not really as much as the model is showing out there right now but as we go later into the tail end of the rush hour and into the afternoon theres the possibility anyway of some pinwheeling lighter precipitation. And up in the poconos there could still be some additional sleet, maybe a bitu of freezing rain or some snowflakes mixing in. So, a Winter Weather advisory is still in effect up until 6 oclock up north. By 12 oclock, it looks like most of us are dry. The crews are out there right now between Armand Hammer boulevard and sanatoga and theyre doing some emergency guardrail repair work because of an earlier accident. Look at these speeds. At this hour to be crawling on 422 at 16 miles an hour thats a big deal so its eastbound that theyre out there trying to fix this guardrail and traffic is just kind of of it.
