Yesterday we only got to 28. Today well actually see a high of 32 late in the afternoon around 3 30 or 4 00. Now, there is colder air coming in, though, and theres a wind chill watch in effect for the Lehigh Valley and berks county starting tomorrow evening. We have a new accident here in hatfield coming in to us on cow path road in orvilla road. Accident in New Castle County, a car ran into a guardrail. One person was killed in a double stabbing in philadelphias East Mount Airy section. This all happened near a bar. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is live near that scene and shes got the latest details. Good morning annie. Reporter a little over half hour ago the crime scenery opened intersection at stenton avenue and also at johnson. Now, police say that they found out about this crime after the emergency room at einstein hospital called them telling them they had two stabbing victims. They say a 29yearold man died from his stab wounds and a 27yearold is currently fighting for his life in Critical Condition still at einstein. Well, take a look at this video. This is video of the scene once police did respond. They say when they got outer here, they did find evidence consistent with what they were hearing including a lot of blood at the scene and also a cell phone and a hat. Now, homicide detectives have been able to interview several witnesses including one person who drove those two victims to the hospital. What they are telling police at this time is that there was an argument inside of chai bar, which is on stenton avenue, then argument spilled out onto the street then say that the crime occurred outside of the bar. Now, police say they do have a description of the perpetrator. Heres a description they shared with us this morning. The description of our perpetrator is a male, approximately 30 years of age thin build wearing a black and gray jacket. This male has a full beard. He was last seen in a gray colored Buick Le Sabre unknown direction. Reporter and back out here live you can see right there, thats one of the citys cameras that they have. They have these all over the city and this is one they have at this intersection thats only several feet away from where the crime did occur. So, police are hoping that once they get a look at that video theyll have a better idea about what unfolded here. Also, this street, stenton avenue, has a number of businesses already just looking at the exteriors you can see cameras outside allow allow a lot of those businesses. Whether those cameras were on police have to find out. Also, if you have any information about anything that might you might have seen unfold here around 2 00 a. M. This morning, police are hoping youll give homicide a call. For now were reporting live in East Mount Airy, Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Annie thanks. Developing this morning the discovery of a gas leaking in a north philadelphia neighborhood forced a number of people out of their homes and into the cold air. Residents on the 2700 block of north garnett street reported a smell of gas. Pgw went to work and found a 4inch gas line that ruptured and repaired it while fire crews evacuated a number of homes. A septa bus showed up to keep people warm. This family bundled up their oneyearold baby girl and warmed up in a friends car. I was scared for the baby mostly. My niece is in the house, you know, gas, you know, is in the house, so that was the most frightening thing but other than that, them banging on my door, you know, it was more upsetting than scary. The residents have since been allowed back into their homes. It is now 6 06. A recent video from isis shows the barbaric murder of egyptian captives. Luis reyes says he rushed his mother to Temple University hospitals episcopal campus with severe head pains. Paramedics transported the woman to the main hospital where she later died from a brain aneurysm. During that ride in the ambulance from episcopal reyes says his sister noticed his mothers wedding rings were gone. Temple university their Health Division said they investigated the incident and that they reached out to the man and tried to communicate with the family. Reyes says hes heard nothing but hell keep trying. Researchers believe they have found the nsas calling card and malware planted on computers worldwide. So definitely another morning to bundle up with all the extra gear. 12 in wilmington. Weve dropped to 1 degrees in allentown and one below zero in millville. So really cold in some spots. Not a lot of wind which is good. Theres satellite showing you the lack of any widespread cloud cover on the eastern half of pennsylvania and through delaware and new jersey this morning. So, well get some sunshine to starter out and then these clouds out to the west will begin to thicken as the day goes on. Up in allentown, well call it increasing clouds today with a sunny start 28 degrees is your high. A little bit of a breeze today but not too bad. Probably feeling like its down closer to 20s at times this afternoon. At the shore, a high of 36. Increasing clouds and chilly conditions there as well. And in philadelphia, well go for a high of right around the freezing mark. Well call it 32, increasing clouds during the day, still cold winds southwest at seven to 14 miles per hour. Picking it up a little bit later on in the evening hours as we begin to see a front drop through. 16 degrees with sunshine by 8 oclock, so still pretty uncomfortable by 8 oclock. Up to 25 by 11 00 and then 30 by 2 oclock with that high of 32 probably striking around 3 30 or 4 00 this afternoon. Obviously it will be a little more comfortable in the afternoon hours if you have optional plans to go out and run errands and we are expecting some snow showers but it doesnt look like those will occur until after the evening rush hour. The latest run on future tracker 6 demonstrates that for you. Some of these snow showers may hold off until well after the rush hour in fact. By 10 or 11 oclock though, there is the chance of some of these popping through and where they hit they could put down a very quick coating or maybe even a half inch of snow. Now that means if youre driving around and you get caught in some of this slow it down in case roads freeze up in the morning. Then were looking out to the north and west with a big mass of cold air. A frontal boundary is going to be triggering those snow showers tonight and as it pushes in, behind it we are looking very cold for both thursday and friday. So another plunge on the way both of those days. The highs in the teens lows in the Single Digits. Bitter wind chills. And another round of dangerous cold. Your sevenday from accuweather shows that high of 32 today which by comparison looks pretty good. Not a lot of wind today. And then snow showers this evening. 19 is thursdays high. 18 on friday. Single digit lows as i mentioned, the worst will be friday morning when were down around 1 degree in the morning. And then saturday at 35 degrees, a little better in the afternoon. At the same time a front starts to sweep through and we get some snow showers, maybe mixing with some freezing rain in the late day and evening hours. But by sunday, were getting so mild that it looks like its mainly just periods of rain and in between those raindrops you might want to head outside and breathe it in cause were getting close to 50. An accident and this is in hatfield township cow path road at orvilla road. Theyve shut down cow path road. Police telling me you have to direct around that. You could use welsh road as your alternate. We have a new disabled vehicle. Weve seen a lot of them in this cold weather. This is in norristown coming into us on halls avenue at oak street an water main break, a couple of them out there. This one in salem county closing route 48 at 130 and one in Camden County in west berlin. This is franklin avenue at mount vernon avenue. And you want to watch for the track being blocked here. You could stick to walker avenue as your alternate for that one over there in west berlin. Investigators have revealed tammy meyers went in search of her attackers before she was shot. It happened thursday night after she gave her 15yearold daughter a driving lesson. Police say on their way home the pair were confronted by a speeding driver. Myers reportedly dropped off the teen girl picked up her armed son and went out looking for that driver. They found him and thats when the driver allegedly killed her. Police are now looking for that shooter. 6 17 and still ahead fires are still burning in a tanker crash that happened two days ago. Rescuers brave the icy waters of Sandy Hook Bay in Monmouth County new jersey to save three people. A 14yearold girl had fallen through the ice yesterday. They used a sled to slowly pull the girl back to safety. She was taken to the hospital to be checked out for hypothermia. Another teenaged girl and an adult woman were about 60 feet from shore on an ice jetty. Responders gave them life jackets and walked them back to safety. Its unclear what all these people were doing in such a dangerous area. No matter how many times we say that people still do walk out on the ice and you cant assume thats going to be frozen. Lets take a look outside right now. Weve had problems on the roads pop up. I think weve got slick spots here or there. This accident is serious. There are injuries on the scene. We see police, ambulance here on i95 northbound past woodhaven road. At this point though all lanes are opened but well have to watch if they bring out a tow truck or more emergency workers that they dont restrict traffic there. Were just getting a new accident coming in to us right now hearing that its in Gloucester County on 295 southbound between thorofare and 656 dave and mass transit is on time. Back to normal today. There are clouds in western pennsylvania, though, that eventually will sweep in and start to thicken things up later in the day and this evening. 15 degrees is your current temperature and that is the story right now. We have pretty low numbers. Its 1 degree right now in allentown, four trees in reading. Millville new jersey clocking in at 1 degree below zero at this early hour. Not a lot of wind but really cold. 16 degrees by 8 oclock. We improve this afternoon. We only got to 28 for a high yesterday and today at 3 oclock well be at 31 and probably inch our way up to about 32 by 3 30 before we start to turn it around and the winds arent all that strong. We have colder air coming in overnight tonight and in through thursday and friday and theres actually a wind chill watch that kicks in the Lehigh Valley and berks county thursday evening into friday. And i could definitely see an advisory added down through philadelphia and perhaps all the way to the shore at some point because we are, all of us looking at pretty severe wind chills but its going to be worse up there. We have a number of accidents and some are serious including this one right on 95. It is northbound past woodhaven road. I know its hard to see now but we have police, penndot all on the scene with this. The car itself is off into the snowy median. You can see one of the First Responders dealing with the car here. Theyre currently blocking the left lane on i95 northbound so were seeing a little slowing here past this scene just past woodhaven road. Watch for that one. I talked to police in Lehigh County and theyre telling me about this accident in upper saucon. It was serious. They had injuries on the scene. They transported those people to the hospital but now theyre out there and theyre cleaning up the debris from this accident on 309 southbound at lanark road. Another accident in hatfield. Police in Montgomery County told me she had to shut down cow path at orvilla road. Stick to welsh road route 63 as your alternate. A disabled vehicle, weve seen so many of them in this cold weather but this one in norristown on haws avenue. A vehicle slid into a guardrail on highway one northbound at route 40 here in New Castle County so a number of accidents, some of them sound pretty serious and i think were seeing black ice on the roads with that melting from yesterday. Matt and tam. Thank you karen. Developing now, the search for the person who stabbed two men killing one of them outside of a Philadelphia Bar. Action News ReporterAnnie Mccormick is live in East Mount Airy with more on what led to this. Annie. Reporter and matt police cleared the scene here at johnson street and stenton avenue about an hour ago but theyre still investigating this. They tell that you say a 29yearold man was fatally stabbed an 27yearold man was also stabbed and still fighting for his life in Critical Condition at einstein hospital. Well heres video from when police were on the scene earlier this morning. It was a 911 call from the einstein emergency room that alerted police to the crime. One victim died. The other is in critical and three witnesses have been working with homicide including the person who drove the victims to the hon. At this hour police are still looking to see if there are any cameras that may have captured anything on the block including some city cameras that are out here. Police say that the stabbing happened outside of chai bar on stenton avenue near east johnson street sometime around 2 00 a. M. Based on witness accounts that transported these two victims to einstein hospital, this stabbing occurred outside of a bar in the 6300 block of stenton avenue. We believe both of the victims as well as the perpetrator were all inside of this bar and thats when an argument started. Were not sure what the argument was about. The argument came outside of the bar where on stenton avenue, on the sidewalk as well as on the highway the stabbing took place. Reporter now police of course did quickly respond to this intersection outside of the bar shortly after receiving that phone call from the einstein hospital emergency room. When they got out here they did discover some evidence and also a large amount of blood consistent with two stabbings. They say that they do have a description of the perpetrator. They say that he is in his 30s he has a thin build, he has a very large beard wearing a gray and black jacket and he was last seen getting into a gray Buick Le Sabre. At another Philadelphia Bar fire left one person injured. Flames tour through the tavern in the tacony section at 2 30 this morning. The bar has apartments above it. Medics treated one tenants at the scene. Two outdares didnt made it out safely. Officials are investigating the cause. A lot of people know who chris kyle is from the movie american sniper. Right now the trial of the man accused of murdering the marine is going on and today the defense will start to make its case. It was a dramatic day in court yesterday as jurors were shown new video of the man accused of killing navy s. E. A. L. Chris kyle as well as another man. Prosecutors rested their case after calling 26 witness to the stand. The latest video shows eddie routh you in the back Avenue Police cruiser after his arrest. When the officer asked if hes okay, he says i have been so paranoid schizophrenic all day. I dont know what to even make of the world right now. I dont know if im insane. Rouths attorneys are using this as his defense arguing he felt threatened by the five assault weapons kyle and his friend child little field brought to the gun range where the murders allegedly took place two years ago but prosecutors say its all an act and that routh only says hes paranoid or acts strangely like lying down in a Police Cruiser when he believes people are watching. But watch this video because police say when officers walked weigh from the car, he sits up normally and appears relaxed. Now over the next few days the defense is expected to call more members of rouths family and a slew of doctors to the stand. Of course a lot of attention being made to this case as tam said in part because of the oscar nominated film, american sniper starring bradley cooper. Tam, back to you. Okay, erin thank you for that. And a building that caught fire is now the scene of tons of ice and thats putting a dangerous amount of stress on an already damaged structure. The building at 52nd and locust looks like something out of a fantasy movie. Crews hosed down the blaze monday in single digit temperatures made that water ice over. Officials worry the weight of the ice may collapse the already fragile charred structure. City inspectors say the building will have to be demolished. Patrick hannah owns the building attached to the wall of ice. If it falls, it will fall on this building. Or if they tear it down, it will fall on this building. For the time being, the roads in the immediate area will be closed and stay that way until officials feel relatively certain that the danger has passed. Philadelphia City Council Chambers are still drying out from a burst pipe. Water soaked the carpeting in the room. The goal is to resume operation there is tomorrow. Todays law and Government Committee meeting has been relocated to a sixth floor courtroom. David today would normally be cold but because tomorrow is so much colder today is a little warmer. Were also expecting plenty of sunshine over the horizon early and were already seeing an early indication of that in center city with the tops of the sky scrapers picking that you early sun. Your winds are calm so were not having to talk about a wind chill but with some numbers in the Single Digits across the region, it definitely is another morning for coats. Again, youll see sunshine early, then some of this cloud cover out by putts pittsburgh will probably make its way across the state went do expect later today an increase in clouds and then eventually some cloudier conditions moving in tonight. The high today is 32 degrees. Well probably hit that kind of late in the day, i would say around 3 30 or 4 00 so its one of those days where if you have the option of putting off errands until later in the day it will be more comfortable than it is in the morning. High temperatures across the region still in the upper 20s for highs up in the Lehigh Valley. 28 in allentown. 29 in reading. 32 in trenton straight down to wilmington though and through south jersey and down toward the shore a couple of degrees above freezing. But it will still be on the cold side. Now, future tracker shows us by 6 oclock tonight were still dry. Later in the evening, though there is the chance of a batch of snow showers coming through and if you happen to be out behind the wheel as these hit they could put down a quick coating or maybe even a half inch if you get one of these heavier cells like that one that the model wants to put down in south jersey later tonight and you got to slow down because that could put a quick slick spot on the roads fore you. In any event it does look like its out of here a possible coating to maybe a half inch out of that and its gone probably after about one or 2 oclock in the morning. But then the cold air behind those snow showers arrives. Todays high 32, but thursday only 19 and friday just 18 with overnight lows in between getting very severe.
