Breaking overnight a sixyearold boy snoozing in back seat of a running car slept his way through his brief kidnapping overnight. Reporter yeah this little boy is safe and sound this morning but this was a terrifying 30 minutes for his family. He was gone in the back of a stolen car and not only that but police say this little boy has asthma. His inhaler was at home and in these brutal temperatures police were worried about what would happen if too much time passed and authorities were reviewing Surveillance Footage to see if they could get a more detailed description from the suspect that took this car from outside the 7eleven early this morning. Lets go to video of this sixyearold boy as an officer carried him back inside the 7eleven in northeast philadelphia to be reunited with his mother and stepfather. Police say there was joy and there were tears. This happened just before 2 30 this morning at large and oxford. Police say the 30yearold stepfather stopped here at the 7eleven to make a purchase, he ran inside and left the sleeping child in the back seat of a honda civic in his pajamas and winter coat. He left the car Engine Running and thats when police say the suspect got into the front seat and took off towards roosevelt boulevard. Police were immediately notified. A description of the car was radioed out every minute. State police were called. A half an hour later the car was found on the 4300 block of leaper. The car is being checked for fingerprints and school board for dna. It did help that the car had unique details. The engine was left running so the heat was on in the car and get this, police say the little boy slept through the whole entire thing. A lot of distance can be traveled in a half hour and his family told us that he has asthma and that was a big concern and we knew how bad the weather is. If this person would have taken the sixyearold and just threw him out of the vehicle and kept the car now the child is going to be exposed to this brutal cold. Reporter now police are still searching for the suspect this morning. Theyre reviewing Surveillance Footage to see if they can get a more detailed description. High levels of Carbon Monoxide forced several people out of their homes in the hunting park section of philadelphia. Fire crews were called to the 3700 block of north fifth street at 4 a. M. Residents were briefly evacuated as pgw crews checked three homes. Septa buses were brought in to provide temporary shelter for about 30 people because it was so cold. No injuries were reported. And developing fire crews in Chester County had their work cut out for them. A two alarm fire ignited at a home in Kennett Square just after midnight. Fire crews worked in the bitter cold to put out the massive flames on the 1000 block of callan road. So far no one has reported any injuries here and what caused the fire is still under investigation. Also new this morning, Philadelphia Police are searching for the suspect in a Home Invasion and sexual assault. It happened along the 2100 block of granite street in the citys bridesburg section. The 28yearold Victim Told Police a man knocked on the door around 10 00 last night. She says when she answered the door the man armed with a gun forced his way into the home. He locked two other women in the home and a threeyearold boy in an upstairs bathroom and then sexually assaulted the 28yearold. Police say the suspect stole two televisioning and cell phones and then took off in a gray suv. It is now almost 6 07 and president obamas taking on what he calls an epidemic of gun violence in america. Happening today hell announce steps in his administration is taking to make it more difficult for the mentally ill, criminals and suspected terrorists to get guns. He was kidnapped and shoved into the back of the trunk. However, his quick thinking may have saved his life. Police say two men arrived at a chrysler dealership in houston asking to test drive a dodge challenger. Once they were out on the road the men stopped the car, pulled out a gun and forced the salesman into the trunk. At some point the man used his cell phone to alert his manager then he fought back. He was able to open the trunk using the emergency latch. Two suspects got out tried to put him back in the trunk. He didnt feel like he wanted to go back in the trunk got in a fight with them. Took the pistol away from one of the suspects and shot one of the suspects. The suspects took off and left the car salesman behind. He was found walking along the freeway. Police were able to locate the stolen car with the salesmans cell phone which then led to a police chase but after they wrecked the vehicle the suspects escaped on foot. Im erin ohearn with a developing story. Frigid temperatures always present firefighter with challenging circumstances and that was the case at the cobbs creek golf course. This is viewer video taken when a blaze broke out around 11 30 last night. The the course is located on the 7500 block of cardington road in the Overbrook Park section of philadelphia. The fast moving blaze engulfed a Mansion House which holds the pro shop restaurant and offices. The upper darby Fire Department also responded because two buildings adjacent to the back of the fire were being threatened. Fire crews will to teal with water supply issues and icy conditions. Yeah, the cold and wind always plays a factor. It creates ice quickly especially at these temperatures and members slipandfall so if the water is spraying all over it isis things up. We have to keep our equipment moving so that it doesnt ice up because when we try to take it down it will break. Reporter it took firefighters two hours to put that fire under control.
