And governor christie supports this. Why. Why are you trying to knock Atlantic City off the man . Thats not the answer. Problem more important question is how do you fix Atlantic City . Gaming over the last 25 years has not fixed Atlantic City. Poverty most people come into the city for the jobs. Impact of closing casinos will affect places outside of Atlantic City. Poverty is high. And the mayor is attempting to figure out how do i fix the problem in Atlantic City as we redefine the city how do we create more jobs for people that live here . How do we improve the Education System in Atlantic City . Thats what games was supposed to do. It has not done it. Anyone have any ideas. They have to do better with first of all they need to look at boardwalk and just clean it up. Thats number one. Number two, they really need to get like brigatta they do more entertainment and doing more family things that makes sense. Not just the gaming mees. Revenue is going down for gaming and going up with other things with entertainment and having stars come out. Those types of things. They have to get more involved in those things and more family orientsd wasnt that the idea of the revel. Beyonce opening up. I dont think it worked. New why casino, no smoking, entertainment. And no people. No people are coming. The bigger problems goes to the heart of what my colleague said here and what everybody has been saying. Lack of diversification of economy in the city and the fact its not destination for families anymore. Theyre going to you know cape may, avalon, you can go through right from new york to down to cape may. The fact of the matter is that Atlantic City is no longer aFamily Destination. And unless they its beyond what a mayor can do. The problem transsends what an individual, chief executive of a city can do. Its now a much bigger task and much bigger problem that will take a concerted effort and. State . And the competition look, in pennsylvania, gaming revenues are now down. Right . 2. 6 in our state and pennsylvania is talking about online gaming. They dont call it internet gaming. I dont know why. They call it online im joking. Online gaming in new jersey. Online gaming as i understand it is just for new jerseyites. Still defraction traction and takes money away. How much we dont know and they dont say but ultimately gaming is not answer to healthy economy. Heres what i cant figure out, if lets put it this way. You have a city in the middle of a sderlt and you have a city on the beach. And both have gaming. Which one will you put your money on . The city next to the beach. Because it has asset. City in the dessert is in a dessert. How does las vegas become so successful or Atlantic City has got tone thint positive. . They went through the crisis they redefined themself a take aid or 15 years ago to destination. Now you take your family to las vegas. And they have better weather. Little bit. Family entertainment. Golf resorts. Hes exactly right. Its just not go through for big couple of nights spend money on tables and get out. Its now a Family Destination site and thats been part of their success. I said that earlier. Vegas and jersey for years and years and years. And that will never be turned back. But also you have to look at the Community Around Atlantic City. People forget about that. Nobody is dealing with that community. They would agree with that assessment. And when you go through people dont want to go through looking at all these negative things. Its just bad. Its just bad. Its dirty. Its like people dont clean it up looks like people dont care about them. What is that saying . Have teosest has to be about everything. It takes a whole team for pull it altogether. You have to have somebody to have your back in politics. You have to be effective and have to deliver and have to fulfill your cam pain promises and have to build. I mean ultimately, hell be judged on success of the city. If at the end of this ten tour the city is perceived as doing well if theres jobs being created and if urban structure is enhanced or we have recreation historical and all things that matt to folks working then hes going to get high applauded, 30, 40 years from now by historians. Good goals, good ideas. In and of themselves are not enough in politics. This is a city that has been mringed to the point you dont worry about bankruptcy. This is a place where crime has gone down. Why dont people talk about that with mayor nutter. Homicide rate is significantly lower. He is bilingual that bringsing is something to the table. His community will buy into. It i think for anybody out there to get it it depends what are goals and objectives how do they make it better. People want to hear those types of things. Lets see what he has to say. Im ot on his leadership community. The Latino Community could be powerful in the election with a latino candidate. And what is voting percentage and only real election for the most part and what is the turnout going to be. All those factors. But if you have you have to look at not only ethnicity but race. And what coalition that and allen buck covisits comes in and senator Anthony Williams that we believe to be in and front runners and if Darrell Clarke runs. When you enter in and other folks come in they take votes away from others and there may be a opportunity for ken trujillo. Its not about resume. If you look at the resume its impressive. But elections are not about resumes theyre about coalition and dealmaking and in this city, someone polled going back to ed rendell second meryl victory its basically coalitions, money, wheeling and dealing and dont forget the unions in democratic primary. I think that ken, who i work with in the street administration, one first has to consolidate base in Latino Community. With which is not in and of itself natural thing to do. In the end what terri said it right. In the end, anybody going to be mayor of the the city of philadelphia needs to figure out how to penetrate the africanamerican vote. Its the largest block of votes in the city. If you have credible candidatesn clark running its hard to figure out how that happened and as terri will tell you ultimately, its about all the coalitions and everything and sooner or later election the vote breaks and it typically breaks to a can daylight. And so if you have Council President clark and senator williams in that election it will be hard to figure out. Theres apathy in the voting base now Everybody Knows what the turn out may not be what it is you have to figure out how to break that voting block and its not easy to do. I think that that ed rendell, was exception in a time block where everybody thought that ron castillo was probably going to be mayor of the city of philadelphia. Mayor rendell lost to mayor good and lost to casey and had to come up to losing elections and nobody thought he would be mayor in 1991 but then sam katz got into the race and passed away. And i think that the president has probably in the same way that he has done National Politics done interNational Politics on the same way and perhaps built the strongest personal relationships that you can have which are necessary in thee these places and also for the president in a time when the world is being redefined. And i mean china is emerging as International Power almost way force, military force or Economic Force and its redefining environment that is really hard to figure out how to get wins. And we have had had wins in the short run. Theres not any down side for the first several years of administration and polls president scored well in handling of foreign policy. That is now reversed itself dramatically as a result of events not just in ukraine, but in iraq. And first of all, earlier in syria and iran, and george is right.
