Police took four potential suspects into custody. Latest word from Montgomery County police is they are questioning those individuals at this hour. No arrests have been made at this point. This was the latest in a string of armed robberies at cvss and other 24 hour businesses in four maryland counties just since december. Police say theyre looking at 1820 cases that could be connected. Its apparent that there are some similar and like events in other jurisdictions, Robbery Detectives have been ski weeks about this trend. Right now investigators are prompted it. Reporter following a nearly 18hour ordeal, a delaware corrections officer is dead after inmates took four hostages. Officials put the prison lockdown wednesday when a guard called for help. Two hostages were released wednesday night but by 5 00 a. M. Thursday officials made the decision to storm the building, using a backhoe to reach the barricades. Those tactical teams quickly located our female staff member and had her removed safely from the building in less than two minutes. Reporter killed in the siege was corrections officer Sergeant Steven floyd. His body was discovered shortly after police went in. The Prison Guards unit is blaming limited staffing on Sergeant Floyds death and says his quick action take over the building, Sergeant Floyd told a couple of the lawsui lieutenants to get out of the building, that it was a trap. Reporter inmates were able to use sharp instruments to take control of the facility. We also have to investigate what happened here, determine the facts to make sure that it never happens again. Reporter it isnt clear if any inmates were held hostage but all 120 prisoners in the building are considered suspects. The check is in the mail.
