Official and wildlife investigators are working to identify the gator that attacked. And all disney world beaches are now closed as a precaution. Investigators say theyre reconstructing the movements of omar mateen in the days leading up to the shooting. That includes going over his cell phone calls. They say theres nothing to suggest mateen was contemplating another target and they didnt know of him patronizing other gay clubs in the orlando area. The main focus continues to be on mateens wife and what she knew. Noor salman told the fbi that mateen said he was going to visit friends before the shooting, but she feared she was going to attack the club and tried to desuede him. She did not warn anyone or call police after he left. The u. S. Attorney in florida says hes looking into whether to charge her. Were learning more about the victims of that deadly mount vernon. They did recover the body of that little 2yearold boy was horrifically snatched off the edge of a lagoon by an alligator. Carrie sanders is in lake buena vista. Reporter it is such a heartbreaking day. A family from nebraska here on vacation. The father and his 2yearold son, according to the sheriff, about 12 inches from the shore into the water. Not swimming, just kicking around in some Shallow Water where out of nowhere to them an alligator lunged and snatched the 2yearold. The father attempted to pull the boy to safety. He got scratched up. The mother and the sister were a little bit of a distance away. Hysterical. Then the gator retreated with the young boy into the dark water and disappeared. For almost 16 hours, the authorities were out on the water in airboats with divers in the water using under water sonar hoping against hope they would be able to find this little boy alive. They did not. They removed five alligators from the lake today. There are no signs that warn tourists here remember, this is a family from nebraska. Theres no gators there. There were no signs telling them there were gators in the water there. Its a common expression in florida that theres gators in every lake. The authorities do point out since 1948 only 23 people have been killed by alligators. Now 24. At the end of the day, this is a very unusual circumstance, but it is so tragic. A little boy, a family on vacation, and really no of the five alligators that they pulled out, theyre not sure whether one of those five alligators was the one responsible. Theyre going to wait for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death, but they think it is going to be death by drowning by an alligator. It is important for them to find the alligator because they dont want it to attack again. Is that correct . Reporter absolutely. This was an alligator that was fed and habituated to come too close to people. Alligators, unlike crocodiles, generally stay away from people. You have such a small little boy there. Its not as if that could keep the alligator away. Im surprised the alligator came close because the father was there. The experts have told us there is a possibility this is what they call a sick alligator. It is just not acting like a regular when they find it, it will be euthanized. They may be able to determine it was indeed the alligator if there are any remains found inside its belly. This is a story that just anyone who hears this just shutters. She drove him there realizing it was too case it. She told the fbi she went with him because she wanted try to talk him out of it. She was with him when she bought ammunition and a holster. The night of the shooting, this is the saturday night leading into early sunday morning, as he was leaving to go to orlando, he told her, according to the fbi, that she was going to visit friends, but she feared that he nightclub and she tried to talk him out of carrying out any attack there of shooting people. He left. She feared thats where he was going, but according to authorities, she didnt warn anyone. She didnt call the police. She didnt tell anyone about it. Did anyone else in the family know about this other than the wife . Not that weve heard. Have investigators learned anything more about the gunman himself, pete . Yes. More about sort of what he was doing during the shooting. We know during the 911 call he talked about isis. We now learned that he called a reporter for a local television station to say he was doing it in the name of isis. That day he posted material to his Facebook Page to say this was to give people a better taste of isis. The fbi says theyve never been able to substantiate claims that omar mateen visited clubs in orlando. Some witnesses who were there thought he was talking to other people or didnt think it was conceivable that one person could carry out all that carnage, but the fbi says today theyre confident that he was the only one that was there. Looking at his Electronic Media and his cell phones, they dont find anything in it to indicate he was considering any other target other than pulse nightclub.
