And new tonight, we are learning that a suspect that was killed at a Union Station wrote a chilling note saying he planned to take out officers. Well, doreen, police sourcs s tell us that the note they found here at the site of the shootout from this suspect who they killed expressed his angst towards society and Police Officers, specifically, and also in the note, he admitted to the murder that police had charged him with, and he said, he wanted to take out as many police as he could. He opened fire on the officers with multiple shots, and they returned shots. Reporter he had been in an apa apartment when police came. We had officers around front and back and perimeter in place, and he came out with a weapon and exchanged fire with our task force members, and was shot. Reporter the suspect was wanted for the murder of this 19yearold woman who was shot and killed on february 27th in northeast d. C. The police have been look g finr the suspect for nearly two weeks, and they believed he was staying with a relative who lives nearby. And the police say that as soon as they knocked on the front door, he ran out the back door, and where two officers were waiting. A lot of gunfire and unbelievable the gunfire. It had to be at least 15 to 20 to 25 shots. Reporter and now police have identified that suspect as 19yearold dequan hendricks from maryland, and he had a note that said he would not be taken alive, and another note, the Capitol Heights task force that is made up of the fbi and other federal agents engaged in the shootout, one of the members, it was his first day on that task forc force. Tonight, a mother who lives in Prince Georges County county is in a hospital after she jumped out of the window of a Burning House with her baby. The First Responders went to the fire and pulled up to the home on 63rd street and saw the flames coming out of the window. The five people inside got out safe safely, and the mother is in a hospital now with second e degree burns to the face. They are investigating what started that fire. Reporter the victim whose identity we will not reveal was in tears as she testified that at first she did not want to the refort the incident, but when she ran into a woman at a seminar for Sexual Assault victims they cried together and that is when she decided to tell her story. It happened in 2012 at a house off campus at a party hosted by members of the naval football team. Jonathan taylor is being charged with Sexual Assault, and the defense is that it was consensual, but prosecutors argue that the victim was too drunk to consent, and saying that before and during the party, she was drinking heavily from the rum bottles, and falling down, and intoxicated she blacked out and she does not remember the accused having sex with her tonight, and tate told the military judge that the victim told the girlfriend that the last night was crazy, and what i did last night i did it, and i wanted to do it. And the prosecution witnesses included her friends. And midshipman Candace Tisdale testifying that she didnt know what happened to her that night, and shock and was in disbelief when she learned the details. And another midshipman testified that the victim was drunk, and saw her fall while dancing, and asked her if she needed anything, and the victim replied that she was fine. Reporter in many questions tonight about how stephanie and frankie regained custody of their 21monthold daughter anaia, and the baby three weeks later ends up death. Both of the parents are charged with child abuse. I dont know what was going through his mind, it was not in his right mind wen he was doing these things. Reporter and the investigators raised concern that they were harming their daughter in 2012 and they lost custody after she was born, but then pros ecutor Charlie Smith says that there was reasonable doubt, but they could not charge th them. Reporter for two years the williams petitioned the court, and after a series of hearings, an investigation of the state and the home visits, a judge recently awarded full custody to the williams. Child protective services takes a look at this very hard and they did remove the child from the home, and it is up to the courts to determine if that child is placed back into the custody of the birth parents. Reporter and Court Documents say that stephanie told her husband that he needed to call the doctor, and he said no, because Child Protective Services would get involved and the suspect edadmitted to assaulting the victim in 2012 when she had a fractured skull and ribs accord ting to the new court papers. Hindsight is 20 20, and it should not have happened because both are charged with serious felony child abuse cases, and proof to prove both of the case s. And new reaction from the story that we brought to you, a violent arrest, and the many people are mourning the loss of a couple of helicopter reporters tonight. A tv chopper pilot and the cameraman were killed when their helicopter plunged on to a busy street in seattle this morning. An investigation is under way to find out why that happened. Janet kim is with us in seattle with the latest on the investigation. Janet . Well, jim, to give you perspective, we are standing a block from the space needle, but here behind me right now, you can see that the crews are working to remove the wreckage. And this is the tail of that chopper that we are talking about. The authorities have cordoned off the scene as the investigators continue to piece together what happened. A horrific scene as a news helicopter fell from the sky on to the downtown seattle street slamming into two vehicles. It hit the ground, and it burst into flamesb and like landed between the red car and the gray tacoma truck. Reporter abc affiliate komo helicopter news crew crashed after taking off of the stations fifth helipad next to the space needle. It hit the trees and crashed on the ho ther side there. Reporter and standby people said that it sounded different. We heard the noise and a problem, and then an explosion as the chopper hit the ground. Reporter huge flames and plumes of black smoke poured from the wreckage as fuel from the crash burned down the street. Komo a has identified those killed as longtime photographer bill strothman, and reporter Gary Pfitzner. At times like this we are reminded that we are public servants. Reporter and the man in the red car was taken to the hospital in critical condition. We are looking at everything, the helicopter, the pilot, and everything. Reporter an investigation into what caused this deadly crash is under way. Ntsb says that the preliminary report could take five days, and the entire report, possibly a year. New information now on the story we brought you first on news4, a controversial traffic stop the led to accusations of Police Brutality in maryland, and the Charles County sheriff was seen grabbing the driver out of the vehicle, and now all of the charges are dropped against him for what he did. Tracee wilkins went to find out why. Reporter this dash cam showing the Police Department pulling a man from his vehicle, and then after that, there is a lot of confusion. Including a car saying that the car needed to be towed. This is not my car. Whose car is it . It is the sheriffs car. Did anybody say that . I am trying to the eallude t the it. I will look at the record. Reporter and now according to his interview with me, he is the first there. He stops and i pulled him to the ground and he is stopped and detained. Reporter soon after, he is handcuffed and then an officer yells out to watch out for the camera, and then the officer went over to block the dash cam, and that is when miles says he was beaten. All of the charges were dropped by the States Attorney Office against this man. So did he make a wrong decision . Yes. The first i heard of the sheriffs events are on your broadcast and he has not talked to me personally about what he observed. Reporter states attorney Anthony Covington says the evidence did not support dui causing the rest of the case to fall apart. I did not believe that a jury or a judge would find mr. Miles guilty. Reporter i asked the states attorney if he felt that this case put a wedge between his office and the Sheriffs Department in order that they both have to Work Together to prosecute cases, and he said that because it is an election year, he did not feel comfortable commenting. Slick conditions back to the s west, and winchester, and shenandoah and watch out around the areas, because we expect to see some minor accumulation of the freezing rain and not a lot, and then everybody changes over to the plain rain and take the umbrella, because you will need it thursday and friday and 56 on friday and 66 on saturday, and we are going in the right direction and see temperatures dropping on sunday and 40 degrees on monday and on tuesday, a High Temperature of 36 degrees, and yes, that means a chance for rain and maybe some snow, and this is something that we are watching, and yes, the accumulation is possible, and we will kocontinue to watch that right here.
