Police Just Announced an arrest in the deadly shooting of a teenager who was preparing to celebrate easter with his family on saturday. Derrick ward is live at d. C. To take you back, 15yearold davante washington was killed saturday afternoon at the Deanwood Metro station. He was on the platform with his mother, when the gunman came up to him and said whats up, shot him and ran off. Late yesterday afternoon, Police Arrested 17yearold Maurice Bellamy and charged him with murder. Hes being charged as an shooting, his arrest and Court Appearance later today will reveal much about that. According to the police chief, at this point its still a bit of a mystery. The details we have when they come out, you can judge for yourself. There is no reason for defuse to take another persons life. But this one, very, very tragic. And, again, we understand that bellamy is due to be in court later today. He will make that initial appearance where he will be arraigned on that Second Degree murder while armed charge. Police now have given the allclear, but needless to say a lot of people, especially tourists, were pretty much on edge. Reporter sirens again blaring at the u. S. Capitol. Visitors kept back. Tourists turned away from the Visitors Center minutes after it opened. Police found two suspicious packages. We were heading into a capitol tour, i believe. And they just told us you cant go that way. Theres something, you should go. The Hernandez Family was first in line. They missed their flight out of california monday. They planned to be at the Visitors Center at time police say larry dawson of tennessee pulled a pellet gun on officers. They shot him. Today dawson is charged. At a time when we its tragic to see Something Like that happen, particularly during a time when its spring break and so many children. All passengers including eight americans are safe and a hijacker is in custody. This after a man claiming to have an explosive belt forced an egyptair plane to land in cyprus. You can see in this picture the filt pilot escaping from the hijacked plane. Officials say the hijacker is seif eldin mustafa and he did it over a personal matter involving his exwife. We saw a big response by capitol we were standing at the Visitors Center talking to tourists about yesterday when police started asking everybody if they had left a bag behind. Thats about when police started telling visitors that they had to go. They had to clear the plaza. The first unattended bag was found at first and east capitol streets. The second was found near the jefferson building. All of this happening the day after police say larry dawson pulled a pellet gown un on offi at the center. He is a pastor, and d. C. Police shot him. This led to some frightening moments for people. Today larry dawson is charged with assault with a Deadly Weapon and assaulting a police officer. Hes in the hospital in critical condition. He will face those charges in superior court once hes released from the hospital. The Capitol Police chief has only been on the job for about two weeks. The news 4 iteam talked to him about the evolving threat on the capitol complex. Capitol police have responded to more than 2500 suspicious package calls the last two weeks. They stopped 13 people from carrying gun on to the Capitol Grounds since 2012. There are concerns about upcoming retirements and new calls to increase funding to Capitol Police to help with the new security threats.
