The driver switched lanes and went into a tree. Luckily no one else was hurt. Family and friends remember a young man who was drowned this week. Anthony johnson jr. Had just graduated from Forest Park High School in Prince William county. He was planning on attending college this fall. He drowned while swimming with friends. The memorial tonight is at mt. Claire elementary. This morning a woman is looking for answers in her sisters murder in northern virginia. She tells news4 she found her younger sister dead inside their twobedroom apartment on derby court on july 4th. She ate dinner with her 43yearold sister the night before, watching tv, and then went to their separate bedrooms to sleep. The next morning she says she found her sister strangled to death. Please find my sister killer. Please. Im begging you guys. She moved to alexandria from ethiopia nine years ago. She worked at this restaurant for five years as a cook. She had no kids and she was not married. If you have any information in her death, call alexandria police. And right now were following a developing story overseas. Hes scheduled to discuss the anthrax scare before a congressional committee. Erica edwards has more on the laboratory mistakes. Reporter an internal investigation at the centers for Disease Control and prevention has revealed several serious errors. Historically considered world class in their safety precautions. Im disappointed by what happened. And frankly im angry about it. During a press briefing on friday, tom frieden started with the anthrax scare that exposed 80 cdc workers. The scientists failed to follow a scientifically derived and reviewed protocol that would have ensured that anthrax was activated and the material was confirmed to be sterile before it left the lab. That didnt happen. Reporter that lab is now closed. In a separate incident, workers accidentally sent a sample of highly infectious bird flu to an outside lab. This week another Government Health agency discovered decades old viles of viable forms of smallpox. This leads to one ckey question. Plus shutting down a trump in northern virginia, the commonwealth is giving up 65 million to the streetcar projects along columbia pike. Stretching five miles from the skyline area to Pentagon City in arlington. That streetcar system expected to bring in billions of dollars. A study found it will up real estate values by 4. 4 billion there over the next 30 years. The system expected to bring in more than 455 million in tax revenue. The study includes the columbia pike segment at the crystal city potomac yard segment as well. Vincent gray vetoed the 10. 6 billion Budget Approved by the city council. He is asking council to work with his office. You might remember morgan was seriously hurt in the suit that killed a fellow comedian. The driver of one of walmarts tractortrailers slammed into a bus. The driver has pleaded not guilty. A california mother says she plans to hire an attorney after she was removed from a concert in san diego. Megan kristofferson had her 4monthold strapped to her son in the pit area. I need you to come over here. Its illegal to have my child at a concert . Yes, maam. Its child endangerment. Police say concert security spotted the infant and were concerned about her getting hurt. Kristofferson said the baby was fast asleep and she believes security targeted her because earlier she was breastfeeding at the concert. The officers gave her the option of moving to a different area or having her tickets refunded. She decided to leave altogether. The san diego District Attorney tells our sister station that kristofferson was not cited at the concert and the incident is under review. We get an inside look at what it feels like to be locked in a car in the summer heat. A Police Officer in texas did just that to remind people not to leave children alone in vehicles. A recent survey of a thousand parents found that nearly seven in ten know about the dangers but said they would leave their own children alone in a car. 14 of parents reported they have actually done it. Experts say most people think a tragedy wont happen to them. And that is the worst mistake any person can ever make. Because if you think it cant happen to you, then you wont put the protections in place that will prevent it from happening. Plus a warning before you use an atm this weekend. Where skimmers were planted on three different machines and how you can spot that device used by some thieves. A sinkhole in the middle of a heavily traveled tourist area could easily happen again. 14th street near constitution now reopened but the issue kept lanes closed for days. We did some digging and found out that type of sinkhole could be the result of past and present colliding. Derek ward has a look at why you havent perhaps seen the last of sinkholes in d. C. Reporter its a modern problem. Holes in the infrastructure like this one at the intersection of 14th street and constitution avenue that opened up on tuesday. Authorities wanted to know why. We need to identify whats under there and determine the condition that its in. And who knows whatevers down there. Reporter its not d. C. Water or any other utility as far as they can tell. Filled the hole and made the temporary patch, but theres something left beneath the hole. A mystery. It was a creek before it was washington. It was incorporated as part of the canal finished in 1815. And it was meant to transport building materials, so it was for the capitol and agricultural products. Reporter but it ended up being a blight on the city. It wasnt deep enough. It became a sewer. Reporter by the 1850s it was filled in with but with what . Its an investigation just to see what is down there. But right now we just dont know. We are getting a look at a new report on the Navy Yard Shooting. D. C. Police released this report to help coordinate their response should there be a future attack. 12 people died at the navy yard that day. News4s Jackie Bensen spoke with the police chief. Reporter this is a black and white diagram of just one section of the mazelike 600,000 square feet at the Washington Navy yard. It gives a feeling for how the cops who ran in to save lives found themselves in the middle of what felt like a violen video game made horrifically real. The afteraction report on the september 2013 incident that claimed a dozen lives reveals the race to stop the gunman was made difficult by certain obstacles. Among them, the door to the room was locked by a Security Guard who didnt contact police. D. C. Police chief spoke to news4 by phone. While we were searching that building, the cameras would have been helpful. Reporter the report recommends that large gated complexes put go bags containing maps, key cards to places where they can get to them quickly. The Navy Yard Shooting is an example why they must coordinate and train together. We never get an active shooter or training drill inside of the base walls because i think because we all made the assumption that because its a military base, everybody in there is armed. It recommends they establish a unified command center so local and federal agencies can talk to each other when an incident like this happens. Charles county police are warning women about a potential sexual predator. A woman fought off a man earlier this week at a storage lot in white plains. The woman says he grabbed her from behind as she was walking to her storage unit. Police released this sketch. He says the man pushed her to the ground and tried to take her clothes off but he was able to fight him off. He drove off in a green car with maryland plates. Police in Fairfax County looking for these three men. They allegedly installed devices to steal personal information. Its called skimming. Atms at three different banks have been hit since early june. A skimming device can copty a customers card information allowing someone else to access your money. It can be inserted as well into an atm slot and record small numbers. Cameras can also be set up to grab pin numbers. Happening today, a family needs help to pay medical bills and save a boys life.
