today will be after about 1:00 or 2:00 this afternoon and our threat primarily a wind and hail threat for today. outside this morning on radar, still some thunderstorms here near petersburg, west virginia, again an hour and a half from two hours away from i-81 corridor. also storms up here in pennsylvania, some storms language the delaware coastline right now, so that will tell you sort of the opportunity storms is a lot higher today than it's been the last few days. so rain chances for this morning, scattered rain chances mainly in the shenandoah valley this morning, but by later this this afternoon, numerous thunderstorms, rain chances in and around the metro are at 60%. and at least a few of those are likely to be severe. but again, our main threat for today will be gusty winds, winds could be up in the 50 to 60 mile-per-hour range, hail also a threat. future weather, first round of showers fades out as it comes east of the mountains here this morning. we'll get enough sunshine sentencing will begin to an ashburn ceo found guilty of murdering his estranged wife. julie carey has more on who is expected to speak during the hearing. >> reporter: the jury that just found a wealthy ashburn ceo guilty of first-degree murder will return to the loudoun county at 9:00 this morning to begin a sentencing hearing. braulio castillo was found guilty of first dree murd-degre and breaking and entering. michelle's body was found in the basement of her ashburn home hanging from a shower. prosecuto castillo had suffocated his wife and then staged her death to make it looks like a suicide. we expect prosecutors to call to the stand the countple's oldest son as well as the couple now caring for the four younger castillo children. possible penalties range from a minimum of 40 years in prison to two life terms. in loudoun county, i'm julie carey, news 4. happening today, a well-known rabbi is trying to appeal his 6 1/2 year sentence. berna berna bernard pleaded guilty to 52 59-year-old wayne daily was shot several times in an alley. they are search for a suspect. and even though school is out, children in need can still receive a few meal. the school districts in say they found it rather peculiar than a minute apart and less than a mile away. the second crash site is in front of the bb&t bank. during the press conference this morning, it's possible we'll find out if the crash is related to the first one and how this all happened. now, it was friday morning at around 7:00 when police say the toyota camry 72-year-old victoria hitchens of rockville was driving ran off the road, struck a tree and flipped near randolph road. hitchens died at the scene. then one minute later, investigators say a black suv crashes in to a utility pole here on randolph road and new hampshire. we're told the driver stayed on scene, but witnesses say several passengers took off. two people were arrested and drug were found inside the suv according to police. here is what police had to say about the two crashes shortly after this happened. >> it is unusual. it's one minute apart. only about a mile apart. and that is one of the reasons why investigars just let it today is in the yellow shading here, that is basically the d.c. metro area south towards fredericksburg, richmond and southern maryland. still an opportunity for strong to severe weather across northern maryland, but higher chances farther south you travel. radar this morning, shows there are thunderstorms here in west virginia, high resolution computer model has that rain chance here pegged early today, but watch with time, by 7:00, 7:30 this morning, that first little ripple fading on out. we'll be left with sunshine to finish the morning and get the thunderstorm chances bubble up against mainly between 2:00 and 8:00 today into this evening. it's a mild one. we're already in the low to mid-70s now and highs today again up near 90 degrees by later this afternoon. if fact we'll be in the mid-80s by noontime. and then for tomorrow, we'll start out with plenty of sunshine, but i think crowds will gradually increase. not much a rain threat tomorrow. best rain chance comes up thursday. tomorrow only in the mid to upper 80s. and if you're already checking out and thinking about going to the beach this weekend, friday, saturday and sunday looks like it will be a great weekend to be down at the coastline. our "7-day forecast" also not too bad. two biggest rain chances are today and thursday and some of those could be strong to severe. we'll keep a close eye on that.
