Were talking about leading up to cold temperatures this morning. 10, 15, 25 degrees below normal in the northeast. Not exactly a good setup here. Especially with some storms expected to be making their way in. So were going to be looking for a couple systems here. Of course maps are being a little bit slow for us. Were looking at temperatures well below normal. Heres whats going on. Well see a system here in the midwest as well as one in the southeast. Those two are going to be coming together. What were going to see is a low cruising up the coastline. Depending on where that low goes, were going to talk about the threat of a large amount of snow in through the major cities. Here we are. Look at these totals here. Looking at maybe a foot of snow. Thats something we are going to v as we make our way through monday night into tuesday. Were going to keep a close eye on this. Attorneys we told you about are waking up this morning to find out they are out of a job. Nbcs justice correspondent Pete Williams has more on that. Pete, good morning. Reporter good morning to you, hallie. Theyre all political appointees, nearly all put there by obama. It was clear most of them would be moving on. In fact, half of them already have. But now the rest have abruptly been told to clear out. There are 93 in all because some states have more than one. Jeff sessions notified the remaining 46 they should immediately submit their letters of resignation. It happened so quickly that many of them first learned of it when they got calls from reporters. The Justice Department said as was the case in prior transitions. The statement said career prosecutors will carry on the work of offices until new ones can be confirmed by the senate. Pete berara was asked to step down. He met with donald trump in late november and said then that he was asked to stay on and agreed to do it but now a white house official tells us that the administration intends to accept his letter of resignation. These firings came the day after a commentary from fox news figure sean hannity who urged the president to get rid of the hold overappointees and many think the firings were partly a response to that. The obama and george w. Bush administrations replaced u. S. Attorneys gradually. But in 1993, janet reno demanded the resignations of all of them in the early days of the clinton administration. But the administration is now dealing with yet another controversy surrounding general Michael Flynn. Kelly odonnell is live at the white house with all the details on that. Good morning to you. This is the time were going to get it done. Were working together. We have some great results. Reporte to push the republicans Health Insurance plan. Were going to have an orderly transition to a Better Health care system. Reporter from health care to jobs. Remember this campaign bravado . I am going to be the greatest jobs president that god ever created. Remember that. Reporter back then he discredited government job figures. Dont believe those phony numbers when you hear 4. 9 and 5 unemployment. Reporter but suddenly friday, those same Labor Department statistics had newfound credibility. When president trumps first month in office showed a drop in unemployment. Press Secretary Sean Spicer revelled in the contraction. Yeah, i talked to the president prior to this. He said to quote him, they may have been phony in the past but its very real now. Reporter a dose of good humor sorely needed in the trump Michael Flynn. Last fall flynn worked several months for a foreign owned turkish company. His Consulting Firm paid more than 500,000. The press secretary acknowledged flynn had provided some information to the trump transition team. A personal lawyer of general flynns contacted a transition lawyer and asked for guidance on what he should or should not do. Reporter but the white house insisted it had not known the consulting client was helping the turkish government. The retired general submitted documentation for his outside work but did not register as a Foreign Agent. Until this past week. I just remembered. You wouldnt know that until he filed. He didnt file until two days ago. Therefore nobody would have known that because he hadnt filed as a Foreign Agent until two days ago. Reporter taking another look back at Michael Flynn, you may remember he was at a time considered a possible running mate for donald trump. I ta t search and he said flynn never made it to the final round so was not interviewed and his personal finances were not examined. Kelly, thank you. Were going to break all this down. Both the health care and the National Security angles. I want to start with rick tyler, our political analyst. Rick, good morning. And lets start with health care. Good morning. Because the president has campaigned for months for close to two years on repealing and replacing obamacare. But there is a lot of conservative opposition for this. Can the president who prides himself on his negotiation skills get the art of the Health Care Deal done . Is his Charm Offensive its not going to work . I dont think so. First of all, i dont think hes going to get the votes in the senate and he may not get them in the house. The problem with this is its not a repeal. The simple fact is they dont have the votes to repeal it because the senate rules dont allow them to because you need democrats to get it democrats passed obamacare. You can repeal parts. Thats what republicans have done. But to fully repeal it you would need the voets they dont have. Now theyre pretending its a repeal. But theres no replace. The bill starts as amending the aca, the obamacare. What we have is marginally tinkering and not really changing all that much obamacare as it exists today. So i dont think youre going to get the Freedom Caucus to get on board with that. And the Freedom Caucus, of course, those conservative members of the house who have concerns about tax credits. Broaden out for a second. Put on your teacher hat. What grade do you give him and whats the headline so far . Its early, right . Lets say this is not your final grade and you have a chance to make it up by doing some extra credit. I would give them a solid d. Okay. And whats your headline . Well, i think theres really been a failure of communicating what the president is trying to do. We dont know what his vision is for russia. We dont know what his vision is for north korea. We know he wants to eliminate isis but were not sure how hes going to do that. Were still unclear what his immigration policy is going to be. We havent seen anything on tax reform and as weve seen now, we dont really have health care. And the immigration eo, the executive order really is set aside the moratorium, it is not fundamentally different than what the government was doing already. This all looks like window dressing to me. Rick, thank you very much. Lets turn to the questions swirling about mike flynn with security analyst jeremy bash. Thanks for waking up with us this morning. The ousted security adviser general flynn registers as a Foreign Agent this week after his firm does some work with turkey. And now it would was he was advising a president ial candidate while a Foreign Agent then becomes National Security director. How unusual is that . Very unusual, craig. Its kind of a trifecta of concerning behavior. First, he was receiving highly classified Intelligence Briefings as the National Security adviser to the nominee and then of course during the transition. Second is he didnt disclose his work on behalf of the turkish government to the Justice Department as required by federal law. And third, it appears that the white house was informed of his role as a lobbyist for foreign government. But they, in fact, put him into the job of National Security adviser and didnt do anything about it. President trump met with the director of the cia mike pompeo yesterday. Many would assume the conversation was the massive wikileaks trump proposing how the cia does its hacking. In terms of dump, do you see russia behind it, jeremy . And what do you make of the timing . Well, look. I think a couple of things are telling. First of all, investigators will probably be looking first and foremost at an insider. Because to get access to those sensitive material, you have to be on the Computer System of the Intelligence Community. Its hard to hack that from the outside. Theyre going to be looking first who accessed those documents, who printed them and who downloaded them. But the timing is relevant. This didnt drop from the clear blue sky. The Intelligence Community has been pushing back on russian interference in our election. And many people inside the Intelligence Community believe this may be russias revenge.
