The streets. Massive womens rallies werealli held this afternoon the largest here in d. C. Where its estimated about 500,000 people gathered. We have Live Team Coverage in the district with live t fox5s ronica clearly and paul wagner. Ronica, we begin with you. What is it like out there. Reporter li let me tell youe have been here all day for this march from where it started by the capital. Now we are at the he lip withh the white house behind us. This entire space was full, stress and blocks of peoplef filled this area. The original route was actually planned to just go down along the mall. L. The crowds were so unexpectedly massive that at one point reports came out that the march itself was canceled, it would just be a recall yes, but the rc crowds continued to move alonge these streets so they said you know what we wont follow that single route. Si multiple streets along d. C. To. End up here at the ellipse. Llip now at the start of it therehere were speeches by politician and celebrities and one key things that ian have to share with youu being inside this march for the entire day, cellphone servicevie was basically nonexistent andnx one of the things that people kept saying inside the march to me was, is this being covered . Do people know how am people are here because when you were inside this march you were basically disconnected from the world. Certainly the information we had we shared with the marchersrche here, but a major concern and thing that we just kept hearing repeated was do people know how am people are here outside of d. C. . As you said at the top oe the report, estimates are now over 500,000 people arrived at todays march really from around the country. Now theres really no one here. We want to actually show youou something along one of the barricades. To be clear, we realize you cant see this too clearly. Were deliberately not zoom inom too closely along these signs because am of them are explicit, many of them use profanities that we cant share with you on television, but this is basically what the marchers have left hundred. Guess a message to President Trump if you will to let them know and share that they want their voice to be heard. If you want to see what those s signsee say, we have a lot of pictures up on facebook and twitter so you can get a feel for a lot of messages and sent unless that people brought toha the march today. T peoday were continuing with our coverage with fox5 paul wagner. Over to you. O reporter hey, ronica, im am Freedom Plaza a, thats pennsylvania avenue behind mee and late this afternoon pennsylvania absolutely jambed with protestors as far as the eye ey could see, all the way up to tho cap to. Were never going to really know exactly how many people cameople here to washington to protest, the Us Park Police got out ofou that business a very long time ago. But we could tell you this, that just after 11 00 this morning metro said they had ridership of 275,000 people and as of 4 00 this afternoon theyre reporting 597,000 people were on metro. Now, as far as the pieceful in is concerned, it was incrediblee by all reports, Us Park Police, d. C. Police and the mayor offico all tell me no arrests, no major incidents. It was calm, courteous and kind. And this and this and this andnd this, waves protestors coming together asthr one. Were here to support the Womens Movement and also tolso support equal rights for all. My kids decided that they wantey us to come out and support this cause. I dont think its hyperbole dob say that this turnout is absolutely extraordinary. Ry. Its now quarter after noon and this crowd is still coming downn louisiana avenue. Lo we had to go all the way out to tacoma station to come all the way down. Wa we had to go out to come down. Oe this is awesome. Clear, thats what so am of the signs were. Racist, extra brag dosshouse. And funny, too. Too. Everything on this list is him. M the number of people that came to protest overwhelmed the mall and the streets around and across it. Ac take a look at this. Pennsylvania avenue wasnt even on the original route. Te. Its packed as far can see. To get close its very hard and the amount of people here andere the energy is just incredible. As one woman put it, this is what otesting is supposed to look like, calm, courteous, civil. Know at the time thaw theyhe thought they had a million people. Peop the Us Park Police said theyaid didnt and thats when the Us Park Police got out of the business. They didnt want to deal with that anymore. That i tell you, it felt so big. It felt so incredibly big. Big. We saw people for just anywheret you looked it was just people, people, people. Eopl and everybody was just so courteous to each other. There was no pushing or shoveling or angry shouts org or anything like that. Itanyt just was an extraordinary event. Ive never seen anything like ii other than the million man march. Ma theres also just speculation now you that this was a huge turnout of certainly larger than yesterdays inauguration at this point. But thats speculation. We just dont know for sure. Paul wagner live at freedomem plaza tonight. Thank you, pa many other marchs took place across the country. Ntry this was the scene earlier in new york cities as townships of thousands of protestor marched p fromr Grand Central terminal up fifth avenue towards trumprum tower. Attracted hundreds of thousands of people while socalled sister marchs took place in more than 600 cities not only across the countryry actually but around the world. These are just some of the images coming in from new york, chicago and loss angels. Women saying they want to send a clear message to the president ed that they will fight for their rights during his administration. The march endedad about an hour ago here in d. C. And fox55 lindsay was watts in that crowd today. She joins us live from northwest. Lindsay, how are things lookingg out there . Have most people left. Reporter lauren and matt, very good news if youre plankrp on travelling in northwest anywt time soon. The march is over. The streets are still busier than usual for this time of night, but nothing compared tope what we saw earlier when it was impossible to drive, difficult to walk anywhere because there were suc we are at saturday andatur pennsylvania and this is one of the block aides that was set up where protestor were not able ta pass this point, able to get closer to the white house. Se. The question that weve gotten present marchs today is how am of us came out and earlier we heard an estimate from officiall that there were 500 h thousand. Metro has said as of 4 00 they had about 600,000 riders. Were hoping tonight well get t more firm number. M nu a lieutenant of different issues from President Trumps here today. Here are a few of the chants that we heard in this area of the white house. Thats our house. I think in h some way its hards to characterize the overall message because this has been for some this was certainly an anti trump march. Ump others will say this was more about standing for differentffer causes unrstanding against the president. Things like reproductive rights, civil rights, overall human rights. Before protestor took to thetest streets there was a big rally, a lot of celebrities. Brit it lasted several hours and herd are just a few of the speakers. It seems as though we had all shifted into a ball of comfort, that justice would prevail and that good would end in the end. Well, good did not win this election. But goodwill win in the end. Were here today to thank generations of organizers and troublemakers and hell raisersrs who formed secret sist who opened planned Health Centers in their communities and demanded the right to control their own bodies. And today were here to deliver a message, were not going to take this lying down. Do cheers and i was just talking with people from our many sister marchs including the one in berlin and they asked me to send a special message, we in berlin know that walls dont work. And back here live i know ronica was showing us that huge wall of signs. I think was over on the the other side of the white house, believe, so we dont havee anything like that here. Were just seeing a few of these signs left behind right here. I think the good news with all of this is unlike those violent protestors we saw yesterday, smashing windows, setting cars on fire, this was march, stayed under control andl again the march has disbursedsbr tonight so traffic is able to move freely again in northwest d. C. Back to you. Thank you, lindsay. Talking about those numbers again, the National Park service doesnt give out estimates of the crowd, but we do know from metro an estimated 275,000ated people road the rails this morning. That number is ate times more than a norm pal saturday and busier than most weekdays. It is also more than the 197,000 who used the rail service yesterday morning to attend the inaugeral events on the national mall. As of 4 00 p. M. , lindsay justst mentioned this, more than 595,000 people road the rail service today. Serv thats a lot of people. And the massive crowds on metro did not appear to cause any other problems today which is really good news. Lindsay was saying so far things pretty smooth, no v there and things go well on the rails, also. Fox5s teisha lewis live at shady grove metro station in rockville with more. Gary theres been a lot of talk about attendance yesterday at the inauguration, one thing ithn know for sure it was a lot warmer yesterday than it was eight years ago. Yea i thought you were going to say today. Ay no, it changed everything. It wases so cold before and b yesterday although it was dreary and it did rain on and was much better when you had to stand out there. No doubt. It was a huge difference. Even a temperature of 48 or 49, i know succame back from being out all day yesterday and she said, wow, it was the coldest 48degrees that she ever felt. It was windy on the mall. Theres nothing to block you. I think everyone agreed that it was a lot warmer than what it could have been. A lot warmer than maybe whate it should have been, too. You could see its gloomy outlom there tonight. We do have these low clouds. Low this is a fog, drizzle thats kind of hung in today. The drizzle monster would not go away. Wed hope that we would get this broken up a little bit today, not necessarily to get some sunshine in, but to allow temperatures to get up just a u little bit warmer. We basically stayed for the most part in the upper 40s. Were 49degrees here in town. Gaithersburg 46, way up here in westminster its 45. Same for winchester. A little bit warmer down to the south an the warmest air is pretty muchty just over the mountains. It hasnt really come up intop virginia and for the most partot it hasnt really come up into north carolina, either. Weve just kind of been stuck and there hants been anything t below all this away. Gaithersburg yours, theithe visibility is down tors one, frederick two, martinsburg atins mile and a half, culpeper a mile and a half as well. S here in the city we were at 6 miles, now weve come down too three. I suspect as we progress through the next few hours were going to end up a little bit thicker fog and then a few showers willl move in late this evening. Veni temperature pretty much stuck at right around 49degrees or so. Middle to upper 40s for the region, okay . Well have foge and drizzle late this evening. Well introduce a chance forhanc some showers, you can see here as they start coming into latere this evening. Going toingre actually start off dry, but late in the day tomorrow, showers will return. We may get just a little bit bit tomorrow, but some of you will still be stuck in the upper 40s. Monday looks wet. Were going to have rainave tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening and tomorrow night and the heaviest of the rain will come in for the first part of monday. In terms the trend you can see i in r didnt intend forr that to be in hearing the trendh is going to be the nice 50s and there may or may not be 6060 thats coming on the seven day forecast to show you. Right now we just have theave clouds and drizzle in place. Lace notice the showers are coming up from the south. As we start getting into the late evening, early morningly hours some of this will move across so were definitely going to have some showers. Back in texas another storm system is developing. Its going t texosystem be movin really tomorrow night and monday and it looks like believe it or not southern areas on mondayday could hear a rumble of thunder with this storm system moving through. M so a pretty intense storm. Temperatures will steady, fog, drizzle and then some showers during the overnight. Tomorrow perhaps we get up into the low to mid 50s with showersh coming in, especially in thein late afternoon. Forecast is shaping up like this, 49 to start. O you can see temperatures donttu move ares whole heck h of a lotr tomorrow. Generally in the upper 40s to the low to mid 50s with thehe showers being a little bit more prominent toward the latter part of the afternoon. Erno what about seven day forecast,oc ive been talking about how its not like january. Heres 53 tomorrow. 55 on monday, 53 again on tuesday, close to 60 on wednesday. We may get there, but weve been holding in the upper 50s. It is january after all. 55degrees on thursday. It does look like by nextby weekend well start getting colder. I dont see anything extremely cold as we head into february, but i do definitely see temperatures closer to where they should be. Morning lowes in highs i temperature 20 s and afternoo highs only in the lower 40s. Were g skin. I already lost mine. E. Im not looking for that coldat stuff to come back. Big february is still uponupn us. True. Thats when we usually get those really if thats our onlyur month that is bad, im not going to complain. Well be back in a moment.
