Im dawn tim feature there is still a heavy Police Presence in frankford right now as investigators search for those remaining suspects. Fox 29s Shawnette Wilson in frankford with the very latest. Shawnette. Reporter dawn and chris, heres what we know at this hour. Police have two suspects in custody. They are still looking for one, possible toll more. Theyre also still looking for the weapon used. The area of the 5300 block of head street in frankford was crawling with police after a group of men fired shots in a residential neighborhood. Then police say they fired shots at an officer in an unmarked car. It happened just after 7 00 oclock tonight. 15th district officers were in the area of 2100 Bridge Street conducting a narcotics investigation when they heard gunshots. An officer in an unmarked car went to check it out. Police say thats when group of men pointed guns in the officers direction and fired several shots. One hit the unmark ford taurus while the officer was still in the drivers seat. The three to four people that were seen firing shots at police were in very close proximity to the front of the police car. The police car was definitely struck by gunfire. The officer driving the police car never got a chance to get out of the car when the shots were fired. Reporter fortunately that officer was not shot. A bullet went through the front bumper into the radiator causing fluid to leak all over the street. Police say they found about five shell casings from a large semiautomatic gun in front of the police car. They say about 10 more were found about half block away indicating there had been a shootout in this neighborhood. Its unclear why the suspects fired at the Unmarked Police c car. Whether they knew it was Police Officer or not, still have these criminals that are that brazen to fire a shot. Several shots from a large caliber weapon. Reporter and back here live, again, police do not believe that anyone was actually hit by those bullets. Despite the fact that they say about 15 shell casings were found, they have not found any blood at either scene and they say at this hour no one has checked into any of the area hospitals with gunshot wounds tonight. Dawn, back to you. Shawnette, thank you. A robbery suspect ends up in the hospital when the man hes targeting turns the tables on him. Police say the 23yearold suspect tried to rob the man near broad street and allegheny avenue in north philadelphia earlier tonight. Little did he know the victim was carrying a gun and fired off five shots hitting the suspect in both legs. The suspect now recovering in the hospital where hes being held as prisoner. Police say they are still investigating exactly what happened here including whether the victim had a permit to car carry. Tonight, three Conestoga High School Football Players are charged as juveniles over what investigators say they did to a teammate. They called it an ongoing hazing ritual at the elite Chester County high school. Parents and members of the community are shocked tonight. Fox 29s bruce gordon has more from west chester. Knowing the kids and knowing our school, um, i just i think its false. Among those traditions, a bizarre ritual called no gay thursday. A couple of examples you would have an older kid come behind a younger kid and put his genitals on top of the younger kids head. Kids might be sneaking next each other and hum pink and grinding against other kids legs. October 15th, thursday says hogan the hazing turned violent. A cocky varsity freshman refused to be bull leader and so was grabbed by three larger senior players including a team captain and was physically violated. An order was given by one of the upper classman and that order was this exact quote, should have a broom up his beep. Its reported the victim was yelling and screaming. But did he not have a friend in that locker room. Reporter hogan says the Football Team Coaching Staff allowed players free run of the locker room. With little or know supervision. The alleged victim did not report the incident till several months later. He has since left conestoga. Parents all over tredyffrin are shaking their heads over the allegations. Police say they found the body of 39yearold man on the sidewalk along 7500 block of may land street in philadelphias West Oak Lane neighborhood. He was shot in the head at close range. Police say the victims wallet was still in his pockets so its unclear if that if robbery was a motive. Tomorrow marks one month since 12yearold Sanford Harling tragically lost his live in a house fire. Hes the boy who ran back into his burning norristown home trying to save his father from the flames. His dad got out alive but the young son did not make it out and now his grieving family is talking only to fox 29. Our Joanne Pileggi joining us now from the newsroom. Joanne, this is just heartbreaking story. Reporter it certainly is, dawn. And the family of Sanford Harling the third, they lost their son, they lost their home and they have been trying find some piece after that devastating fire. We had the opportunity to sit down with the parents, the father, and the mother, and they talked about the nightmare they experienced and the hardship they face every moment. I dont know any other kid that would have took that chance to run into a house with flames burning to save to save his fathers live or his mothers life. Oh, god. Reporter from his bed in rehab hospital in havertown 58yearold sanford article cant shake the pain. The memory, the vision, the smell of a fire, that claim the life of his 12yearold son last month. My wife was screaming. She was screaming like, where is manman. He went back in the house to get you. In a twisted stroke of time, sanfords son whose nickname was manman first ran out of the burning home in norristown with other family members. But realized his father who had just gone through hip surgery was stuck on the second floor. Unless he ran back into the house during the time i was jumping out of the window. He was a brave kid. He was my heroism. Four week after this fatal fire the elder sanford is waiting for yet another surgery to repair the injuries from jumping out of the burning home. His wife and other children living in a hotel room. Taking one day at a time trying to find somewhere to live. We dont have nowhere to live. We homeless basically. His memory now resonates well beyond his community. Thanks to his remarkable act of heroism. He was fatally shot at a game stop in north philadelphia last march during an apparent attempted rob breach he was there buying a gift for his son.
