Reporter lucy, jim kenney is in the cat bird seat right about given the huge disparity in Voter Registration numbers in philadelphia, winning the democratic mayoral primary pretty much makes you mayor in waiting and thats the scenario facing jim kenney tonight. The candidate a longtime city councilman voted at a church near third and race mid morning today. He has been in the lead for the last week officially i say officialofficially because the only real independent polling of this campaign was released last week showing kenney with a significant lever his competitors. Eight years ago Michael Nutter showed an africanamerican candidate to break through that racial voting and capture white votes even with white candidates in the race. This time around the polling suggests that jim kenney may be about to do the same that is a white candidate getting significant numbers of africanamerican votes open with the presence of strong africanamerican candidates on the ballot. Tomorrow morning, when all of this is sort theed out well know for certain. Jim kenney gets his people out and he wins. There will be a few other candidates with something to say about it. Our jeff cole is at senator Anthony Williams headquarters in center steam theres at least some reason for on the missile there. I think so. The other thing we may learn tonight if tv has huge impact in this race because lets face it you simply could not turn on the Television Without seeing Anthony Williams and one of his ads. Lets take look at video of senator Anthony Hardy williams known as Tony Williams voting today. Now, Anthony Hardy williams voted at a cobbs creek school. He remembers going to this school and voting here with his dad who is also a state senator in fact Anthony Williams holds his dad seat. You cannot turn on the tv as we said in the final weeks without seeing Anthony Williams face. He aired in avalanche of tv ads with the help of wealthy supporters pushing on the School Choice issue. If a recent poll is right williams is losing badly to jim kenney. Last friday, williams was asked about that poll. He said, he believed the race was competitive. We will see here tonight at the sheraton. Back live youll see some balloons over my shoulder. They say vote for tony push number 66. We will see tonight if enough people do that. Live at the sheraton at the Anthony Williams headquarters im jeff cole. Folks, back to you. Jeff, thank you. A prom for some Camden CountyHigh Schoolers ended in darkness and tears those prom goers feel like they never had prom at all. Fox 29s timmeney live in sicklerville new jersey. Dawn what is going on there . Reporter well, lucy power outage made the prom a night to remember but for all the wrong reasons. You know the prom is kind of a right of passage for high school seniors. These students say they spent a lot of money hundreds of dollars, in fact, only to have the plug pulled just as it was getting going. I was looking forward to this forever. The biggest thing. So its like it was really disappointing. Reporter disappointing because Winslow Township High School senior Bella Vasquez didnt even get to dance at her junior senior prom at the mansion in voorhees friday night night. She and her friends dressed to the nines but the evening ending abruptly after a power outage. The lights started flickering and i was like oh, my god, what is happening . So the lights went off. They didnt come back on. Two elevators with children stuck in them and according to winslow officer was there and the principal. I mean, they had to call 911. Reporter everyone got out safely. But about two hours into the night, students were told the party was over. Timing to home. Call my ride was they said. I was just like, wow like i really have to go home from my own prom . Its ridiculous because a lot of people spent a lot of money. Im senior its my first and last prom and that should have never happened. The mansion apologized and on its Facebook Page offered to recreate the evening. The School District superintendent said in a statement however that the mansion was unwilling to accommodate their request for a prom redo and thats when the mayor asked the owner of villa man 94 who did did not hesitate to say yes. Prom is a very special event for the kids, and i just wanted to give them that moment back. That was very nice of her. So thats why i want everybody to come out and enjoy theirselves because somebody actually gave it to us for free. Reporter thats right for free. So prom part two will take place here friday night june 5th the owner of this banquet hall says the community has been very good to her over the years and she wanted to pay it forward. The students are really excited about it. Theres no definitive word on what exactly caused that power outage on friday at the mansion. All right, dawn. At least we got sort of a happy ending. Good for this woman to step up and give them a night they wont forget. Thank you dawn. Back to your fox 29 Weather Authority. Now you can see by dawns standing out it looks beautiful out there right now. He can speak of happy endings. Yeah. It was a socked in with the clouds. We had the fog. We had some drizzle and mist this morning. Reduced visibilities turned into a pretty nice afternoon. Temperatures increased as well. Low this morning of 61 afternoon high of 83 degrees. Pretty quiet right now ultimate doppler. Earlier this evening we were watching a thunderstorm that moved from New Castle County too salem county. It ran out of steam in Cumberland County. Pretty quiet conditions still a little warm, 82 right now in philadelphia. Humidity at 60 . Because the winds theyre still out of the south and the west. As we look at temperatures area wide, mid 80s in reading. 84 in dover. 82 in trenton. Low 80s right now in atlantic city. But look at the the dew point. The measure of moisture in the atmosphere. Any time its at or above 60 degrees it starts to feel a little sticky. So as we look at that scale dew points in the 60s. Uncomfortable close to 70s when it starts to feel really oppressive. If you dont like that humidity, and those dew points above 60, you look at the temperatures right now out ahead of this front in the low 80s philadelphia. Near 90 in d. C. But behind this front, temperatures for detroit only in the mid 50s. Low 40s right now in traverse city. Some of that cooler air drier humidity is headed in our direction overnight tonight. So it will be mild if youre stepping outdoors. Temperatures by 11 00 oclock still in the upper 60s. But that humidity will really start to drop but out ahead of this front still kind of muggy up stable. Most of the thunderstorms well to the north of us as well as to the south. But High Pressure thats behind that front and a windshield. Winds now out of the south and west behind that front out of the north and west and that will help to really lower the humidity. Scower out the clouds across our area so wednesday looking pretty nice. It will be comfortable. Get outdoors and enjoy it. Not a cloud in the sky through much of the day tomorrow. So temperatures tonight 60 degrees in the city. Mid 50s in the suburbs with that lowering humidity and then beautiful. Look at this. 73 degrees for the High Temperature tomorrow. It will be a little breezy and if youre headed down the shore for the up coming Holiday Weekend, Ocean Temperatures still in the upper 50s. It will be cool on saturday, mid 60s but upper 60s low 70s as we move toward memorial day itself. There might be a popup storm around on monday. But tomorrow is a 10. Look at thursday. A cool start in the 50s. Some locations will be in the 40s. 70 for the high on thursday. 77 on friday. And then the upcoming Holiday Weekend s it looks really good to kick off the unofficial start to summer. Perfect. Yeah. Beautiful. Thanks, scott. Thank you. Howard eskin. Im holding you there. All right. All right. Hes on notice. All right. The sixers have a night tonight that could set up the franchise for years. It could actually set them back as well. Ill explain. Last week, new England Patriots owner robert craft was digging in ready to go after the nfl and the commissioner on deflategate. That all changed today. Thats all coming up in sports. New England Patriots owner robert craft called out the commissioner roger good dell at the soup bowl over the charges of dee plating footballs. He wanted hard evidence or an apology. After investigation by ted wells the nfl penalized the patriots with a loss of a first round pick a fourth round pick and fine the them 1 million bucks. The owner robert craft was angry angry. Went aft the commissioner Roger Goodell and threatened to appeal and many thought he would take it to court. Today at the owners meetings, oh, robert craft. He raised the white flag and he surrendered. I dont want to continue the rhetoric thats gone on for the last four months. Im going to accept reluctantly what he has given to us and not continue this dialogue and rhetoric and we wont appeal. Thats because you cheated. All right its interesting to note that craft who took no questions, did not helping tom brady. Who is now on his own with the Players Union appeal of his four game suspension. And the nfl today changed the extra point rule for attempts. The ball will be placed at the 15yard line, twopoint conversions at the two and the defenses can score now on the twopoint conversions. A big night tonight. The sixers, well, it could be a big night. The draft lottery so do the sixers have enough balls in the lottery . Those pingpong balls are important. With sixers tanking last season they only have the third best chance at the number one pick. Thats over 15 . Minnesota has the best chance. The new york 96 nick the second best chance and the sixers third and the sixers have a chance of really getting the first six and 11th picks but the worst scenario they could get just number sick.
