They say this happened north norwood street minutes from where a six year old was hit by a stray bullet. Steve keeley live at Police Headquarters with the latest, steve . Reporter yes, just the detective here at headquarters say because this happened just two blocks away from where the little six Year Old Girl was shot last night, in a birrage of 21 shots, dave kinchen reporting on next, they say, given the proximity, and in terms every distance, and the time of the shooting, as well, to that shooting over there, where kinchen will report on, they thought there is a strong possibility this could be retaliation firing back because they say those 21 shot were fired from the same direction, meaning, it wasnt two guys shooting at each other last night when the six year old was shot, it was two guys shooting at somebody, and maybe that somebody wanted to get even. They found the vehicle parked unattended struck by gunfire. They found blood in and around that vehicle. Police followed a trail of blood to the 6300 block of norwood street and inside of the property where the trail of blood led was a 47 year old male who was shot one time in his right arm and one time in his right leg. Police transported that victim to einstein hospital where hes presently in stable condition with two gunshot wound. Reporter they certainly have lots of balistic evidence to compare and see if any of the bullets in these shootings match. Because look at this car. The story that daves going to report on. Two cars hit there. So they have bullets in those cars, shattered windows, holes in the medal, more importantly, holes in people, include that little girl and this guy, thank god for the surgeons at einstein, in both cases, the hospital on broad street saving lives and getting that little girl to surgeons. Hear more from kinchen on that. Far away, another shooting sends a six year old little girl to the hospital. Police say she was unintended as a target, just playing out there on the porch when she was hit by a stray bullet. Dave kinchen standing by at st. Christophers where the girl is being treated. Dave, how is she doing . Reporter well, we can tell you, fortunately, shes in stable condition. We got the update not too long ago from investigators, the six year old here at st. Christophers hospital for children after a gunshot to the left arm. Police say it happened just before 7 00 last night on the 6300 block of northwood stock street in east germantown. That shooting related to you just heard steve keeley report there at least 21 shot were fired according to evidence markers, the track, number of shell casings, investigators tell us, that six year old was playing on the porch of the house where she lived when she was lit by a stray bullet. She was originally rushed over to Einstein Medical Center where she underwent surgery, then was transferred to st. Christopher. Police say the she casings were from two different weapons, only they have reports everyone person seen running away from the scene so far. The six Year Old Girl was reportedly standing on the front steps to the house where she lives when she was shot. We believe due to the fact that she is just six years old, that she was struck by a stray bullet, we dont believe anybody intentionally would shoot a six Year Old Girl. Reporter Police Looking at Surveillance Video from businesses and some homes on the streets. So far there is no motive. No arrests have been made. It started the last half hour someone suggesting you get your hair together. Looks like youve done that. Oh, it is together. The humidity makes it tough outside for your hair, sue serio, chris murphy is learning not just women, but men, too. It is true, we all have hair. Most of us, anyway, ya. And the humidity, i dont even know the Science Behind it, but it is not going to be good today. And for the foreseeable future with the humidity. So, we start with a seven for today. I think by tomorrow we will be talking to a six out of ten. And, already, it is 77 degrees in philadelphia. With a 6mile per hour breeze out of the southsouthwest, southwesterly winds, usually mean, more humidity. And thats the case today. 6 09 is your sunrise time, even mount pocono, already at 70 degrees, 76 in trenton, 77 in millville, and were even in the upper 70s in wildwood. Although, some of our shore points could get a little bit after ocean breeze today. We are looking at showers in upstate new york, even northern pennsylvania, around williamsport, nothing happening here, not yet, it is later on in the day that you will have to look to the skies for possible pop up showers and thunderstorms, but nothing this morning, it is not out of the question we couldnt have a stray shower, but we dont see anything in the offing. So yes, things starting to warm up. Close to 09 degrees yesterday, the normal high is 86. And today looks like we will get to 90 with the possibility any time this afternoon of a pop up shower or thunderstorm, and get used to this weather pattern. More humidity, temperatures in the 90s, pop up showers and thunderstorms, it is summertime in philadelphia, and once again, it is going to feel like it. Which impacted the Paoli Thorndale line. We are hoping things are good to go for the first train at 5 00 a. M. Still waiting for word from septa as to the situation there. Thank you, breaking news, man in stable condition this morning after being shot. Now investigators are seeing if this incident is related to separate shooting in the same neighborhood, where a six Year Old Girl was also hit. Steve keeley, live at Police Headquarters with a look at both stories. Hi, steve. Reporter sorry, guys, producer was in my ear, hopefully im on the air. Not just the same neighborhood, were talking the same street, shelton avenue, bolt of these shootings, even though the little girl wasnt standing on shelton, thats where the bullets that hit her were fired from. The people that make the decisions here at Police Headquarters have some hightechnology. Two things, they have what is called a shot spotter, microphone system, that picks up specifically the sound of gunfire, differentiates it from firecrackers even. They also have real time crime cameras. Well, they have both of these hightech devices on shelton avenue in that area, because it has been a crime spot before, and now, twice, in just the past six hours. Look at the scene, in the second shooting, at 1 40, you see white car window blown out, bullet holes in it. This was the third car on the street that had bullet holes in it, in a sixhour span because this was the second shooting, and this is why police think this 47 Year Old Girl 47 year old guy shot, led blood to the front door, never called police to say he was shot, it was the police that followed the trail of blood then found him inside. And he told them, hey, i heard gunshots, then i realized i was hit in the arm and the leg with bullet. This shooting comes about six and a half hours after a shoot that happened today just before 7 00 p. M. Happened on tuesday just before 7 00 p. M. , where a six Year Old Girl was struck by a stray bullet in the 6300 block of woodstock street. We found 21 spent shell casings in the 2,000 block of shelton avenue, the shooting now happened 2100 block of chelton avenue, about half block away. So detectives are looking into the possibility that this may be related or may be some type of retaliation. Well, even though theyve got a bunch of gunfire, second time on chelton avenue, they dont have another set of shell casings, so maybe a revolver or maybe somebody shooting from a car and all the shells still in the car that took off. They do know 30 shots fired within six hours here on chelton avenue. Then little girl, you dont have to be next to a gun, you could be a mile away, and still get hit. She get shot in the chest under her armpit. She has got a collapsed lung, broken ribs, critical but stable, the last check at childrens, with detective. So hopefully she will survive this and be traumatized by it. That happened right after dinnertime. It is not like the little girl was out late at night. That first shooting happened at 7 00 when she and a whole bunch of other kids were out playing and she becomes the fifth child hit by gunfire in the city since the start of the summer. So more awful news, and theyre wondering right now if it is the end of the shooting on chelton, more retaliation on the way . So far not yet. Chris, lauren . Poor kid. Thank you. 4 36. Philadelphia police have issued alert to day cares in the area after seven have been burglarized. Theyre holding a Community Meeting to warn business owners. By the way, philadelphia Police Looking for a man who they say has broken into seven day cares in the last nine days. The man was caught on surveillance camera, in several of the incidents and in some cases, swiping thousands of dollars along with electronics, investigators say the man has been breaking in to back windows and doors to get inside day cares in west oaklane, and surrounding neighborhoods, and in one case cops tell us he even pushed out an ac unit to slip in through a hole. Once inside, he broke into the office and there he stayed and rambled until he found some funds that was from a childrens trip. Weve been here for 12 years, and nothing like this has ever happened to us before. So we feel violated. Back to you. Reporter dave kinchen, thank you so much. Amtrak has started settling lawsuits with victims of last years deadly derailment in philadelphia. It was more than eight points clear of the field, the day was capped by fan favorite, 19 year old simone biles, who showed her skills during every single rounds of the competition. The golden girl dubbed themselves the final five. Due to the fact that the formats changing in tokyo in 2020. Only four team members will take part in that team competition. And chris, gold wailings not the only color making headlines yesterday. Im kind of color blind. Tell me about it. Oh, you are. So green was a color people talked about. Take a look at the diving pool being used during the olympics in rio. The water turned green. Pool which hoses diving, was perfectly blue during the mens 10meter platform event, the previous day. Yes . No one notion why the water changed, officials say, no divers are in danger because of that color. There is sort of thing when they put colors in the pool, when the kids pea in it, it turns color. Look at the top, sort of blue, at the bottom, green. When i was a kid in my neighborhood, if you pediatric in the pool it turns a different color, like a cloud around you. Thats what i was saying. So did one of the olympic athletes have to go . Or is it just another one of those things in rio, where it is not working properly and then, you know . Sue, you know, when we silly putty talk, we need to turn it over to you. Thats okay. Thoroughly enjoying this. So lets talk about the excessive heat. I think you would rather talk potty talk, wouldnt you . Eww, here it comes. Now, the watch itself does not go into effect until tomorrow afternoon, and then, last all the way through until saturday evening, at about 6 00. With a heat index in triple digits, even though the actual temperature wont get there. 77 degrees in philadelphia, right now. Yes, already 77. Same in millville, more than that in wildwood, Atlantic City, 76 in wilmington, and 77 degrees in reading. And it is not even 5 00 in the morning yet. 72 degrees, is our dew point in philadelphia. And once dew pointinch into the 70s, and the closer the dew point get to the actual temperatures, more moisture in the air. Heatwave number five is on the way.
