Also in clinton a stretch of piscataway road is closed close to steed road. Breaking news from overnight, search crews found a large chunk of airasia flight 8501. Sonar shows much of the jet lying up side down at the bottom of the java sea. More bodies have also been recovered including a find attendant in their uniform. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Prince georges county police are still here on the scene on balsamtree drive. A manual was found shot to death inside a taxicab here around 1 00 this morning. I know its still dark out here and police are still investigating so we cant get too close to the scene. But take a look at some of the video. You can get a better idea of whats going on here. It happened around 1 00 this morning in the 800 block of balsamtree drive. We dont know if the victim is the cab driver, a passenger or either of the two. We just know that the man was sitting in the cab when he was found with a gunshot found. Police say those who live around here should be cautious. There is no indication of an immediate threat, however, but they do not have a suspect description off anything like that theyre asking for the publics help right now. They dont know who is responsible or what this person looks like. Ive been speaking to people who have been coming out here all morning wondering whats going o. Those neighbors tell me they did not hear anything unusual this morning. They did hear a gunshot. They didnt see anything out of the order father. Everybody is per ordinary. Everybody is perplexed about what happened. But police here in Capitol Heights investigating a man found shot to death sitting inside a taxicab. We dont know that victims name. Prince georges county police have identified a man found murdered yesterday morning in fairmont heights. Officers were asked to check on 31yearold raphael frazer at his home on wood hill court. Thats when they found his body. A black fourdoor 2014 chrysler 300 with virginia tags that was missing from the home has been found in the district. A 25,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest. Virginia is dealing with a serious flu outbreak. One of the latest victims a Loudoun County student. Administrators at creightons elementary sent an email saying that Joshua Johnson died of the flu on december 26 after spending several days in the hospital. Virginia state Health Officials say theyre one of several states now showing widespread flu activity. The issue in infants and children is that their respiratory airways are much smaller so theyre at higher risk for things like viral bronchitis, pneumonias. Thats where theyre more susceptible. Even though this years flu vaccine is less effective than in years past, doctors still recommend getting the shot. It can lessen your symptoms or reduce the length of your illness. Meanwhile it was a love story but one that came to a bitter end unfortunately. 95yearold Eddie Harrison married his 96yearold sweetheart edith hill but her daughter didnt approve and a judge allowed the daughter to move her to florida. The family said she had dementia. Eddie claimed edith did not want to go and he didnt want her to go. He died yesterday in Fairfax County with his family by his side. Edith wasnt there but the pastor who married them was. Eddie was 95. D. C. City leaders and transportation officials had all but promised they would have streetcars up and running by the end of this year which means just hours away from the selfimposed deadline, passengers are supposed to be on these trains very soon. Reporter while very expensive project and its been a long time for a lot of these residents on h street who had to live through a lot of the construction, weve seen a lot of the streetcars coming through on the test runs this morning. Beautiful gleaming streetcars but they will not be carrying passengers at least by the end of this year as once promised by the administration. Mayor gray just releasing information to us a short time ago saying that safety is their number one priority and safety is the reason why this project is on hold for now. Ddot conducting all their safety checks and all the requirements but when they submitted their paperwork to the state safety organization, thats when the organization said ddot needed to cross some tst and dot some is and do a little more work. Hopefully they can get passengers on the streetcars soon after the new yeyou alluded to, this has been an expensive project, 123 million all taxpayer money. This project has been in the works for decades and the physical work, though, started in 2008. Right now we only have a two mile stretch of streetcars from Union Station to benning road. Eventually the city is hoping the streetcar project will be a whole 22 miles and travel all the way to georgetown. But right now the big news today is the d. C. Streetcars will not be carrying passengers by the end of this year because of safety checks that still need to be performed and conducted. The mayor is hoping, though, that passengers will get on board soon after the new year. Well have reaction from some loin the next half hour. Throw that to the top of the new years resolution list. Search crews have recovered three more bodies from the airasia flight. Reporter cbs news has confirmed officials of the country now have a sonar image showing a large dark object upside down at the bottom of the java sea. His name is cameron, beckford. His mother was visiting columbus, ohio with both her son and her daughter and they believe she abandoned cameron on a strangers front porch friday night. Police scoured the area, including a nearby creek but they found no sign of the boy. The mother is in Police Custody and facing charges. Were told the daughter is in the custody of child services. Some disturbing news that weve been following here. Someone is filming up the skirts of women riding metro and posting the videos to a porn site. Some of the victims may be teenagers. Passengers are horrified. It is disgusting and despicable and a disgrace. Not only do we have to worry about people snatching our stuff but people using our stuff to look under. Thats very bad. Metro Transit Police are investigating. They encourage passengers to report any suspicious behavior. D. C. Mayor vincent gray was among those who promised passengers would be able to ride streetcars in the city by the end of the year. That might not actually work out. That only gives the city a few more hours to pull that off. Thats the news we just received from the Mayors Office that ddot has to go back to the Oversight Committee and send some paperwork in in regards to what theyve already done to make sure the d. C. Streetcars are safe for passengers. The mayor says safety is their number one priority. Thats why this project is not getting off the ground just yet but is hoping soon after the new year. We see a streetcar just passing through right now tolling its bell. You can see it looks iewfl beautiful but they are empty in awfully beautiful but they are empty inside as they continue to conduct the test runs up and down the h street corridor. This is a twomile stretch so far. It will carry passengers from Union Station to benning road. The streetcar is supposed to be about 22 miles and carry passengers all the way to georgetown but were only at two miles so far and there have been a number of delays since the work first began in 2008 and it took a couple of decades to ge the first shovel in the ground. Its been a long and expensive project costing taxpayers 123 million. We talked to some. Heres what they said. I dont think its worth a dime. I think its causing taxpayers money. Theyre only putting them over here i dont know fits just for the im not being prejudiced its just that what is it good for . It only go to the bridge and back down and turn around. They need to make it longer if theyre going to do it. I need to see how it functions with the traffic and how many people it takes up and how much it costs and things of that nature.
