Travellers face €2.5k fine or 6 month jail sentence if they can't produce negative virus test after arriving in Ireland

It was announced at a Government Press Briefing today
It comes as the Government also confirmed a raft of strict measures aimed at tackling the surging levels of Covid-19.
The new rules around travel, construction, schools and shopping were agreed by cabinet this afternoon.
The current travel ban in place for Great Britain and South Africa has been extended until midnight January 8.
