Empty street of Sarsa village
Vadodara/ Anand: Villagers of NRI-rich Sarsa, around 15 km away from milk city Anand, witnessed a unique lockdown on Wednesday.
Just when people were coming to the terms with a ‘self-imposed lockdown’ that came into effect on Wednesday 11 am, the restrictions ended in a few hours at around 2pm following opposition from section of traders and shopkeepers.
Citing rising Covid-19 cases in the village that has nearly 25,000 population, the Sarsa gram panchayat on Tuesday had declared that the village will observe ‘voluntary bandh’ from Wednesday till March 16.
Shopkeepers, vegetable vendors and other traders were informed about this decision through chalkboard notices and letterhead posted on corners of the village.
