It did not take long for the fire that started in one house to spread causing huge damage. We got an initial call at 12 505, record structure 12 55 for a structure. We have a total of five structures burning from 175 to 179. Reporter five homes igniting, 31 people displaced. She lives in the house where the fire started. She wasnt home but she got a frantic call from her mother. The house is on fire. Me and the kids are outside, p. J. s, no shoes. Its gone. She kept telling me its gone. I was coming home and i saw the smoke and everything. It was like is it my house. I see that it was four houses that caught on fire. Reporter firefighters are looking into the cause including talk at the scene that a child may have been playing with a lighter. As firemen battle this blaze, a block way three abandoned homes went up in flames. We needed more resources to fight that fire as well. So, at this point, we have all paterson units, most of the state and county assisting us at both locations. Reporter about six firefighters suffered injuries including smoke inhalation and minor cuts and bruises. All are expected to be okay. Many families are dealing with the loss of their homes but grateful to be okay. They had to go in and rescue my daughters cat. She is crying for her cat. She is only 6. She doesnt know what is going on. She understood that her cat was trapped in the fire. Reporter the cat is okay. In the last couple of minutes we have seen red cross personnel talking to the families displaced to get them shelter for the night and the days to come and at this point no official word exactly on how this fire started. Investigators are now releasing new details on their investigation. This is an investigation that involved literally 16 smartphones, one desktop computer, five cameras and more than 160,000 Text Messages along with thousands of pictures and videos. Court documents revealing that fogle traveled to new york to have sex with underage girls. Eyewitness News Reporter darla miles has the latest from battery park outside one of the hotels where fogle met up with a minor for sex. Darla . Reporter diana, federal prosecutors say jared fogle planned his business trips to new york city his plans to have sex with little girls. In fact, they say that the 17 yearold girl that he had sex with in new york city, they say he asked her to find more girls saying the younger the better. In pleadings filed today, fogle admitted that he repeatedly traveled from new york, from indiana to new york to engage in commercial sex acts with victims that he knew to be children. Reporter to be exact, fogle had sex with a 17yearold girl in november of 2012. Then the same girl at the ritz carlton in battery park in january of 2013. A minor federal prosecutors say fogle met on a web site advertising erotic services. This is unique, one of the first cases in a long time dealing with a celebrity who had access, power and resources to do anything he wanted in the world but he chose that to con joel, con conjole, convince children. Reporter possession of kiddie born beginning in 2011. He was in Court Wednesday with charging documents laid out the details of his trips to have sex with teens stating deaf daunt repeatedly sent Text Messages to several escorts to provide them to access with minors as young as 14 to 15 for purposes of commercial sex acts. He did this after engaging in commercial sex acts with the escorts to make sure they were not police officers. Jared knows he has a medical problem. He sought evaluation by a world class psychiatrist experienced in these matters and he will seek appropriate treatment. Under the deal, he will spend 5 to 12 1 2 years in prison, paying 1. 4 million in restitution, 100,000 for each of the 14 victims and register as a sex offender. He has volunteered to make restitution to those individuals who have been impacted by his behavior. He knows the restitution cant undo the damage he has done but he will do all in his power to try to make it right. Traffic on route 22 westbound is closed in many areas between westfield and Scotch Plains because the water level is high. Its starting to drain now but it was just you could not drive a car through it. One of the drivers that lives on the street was driving to get home in it. Todd, you said you havent seen it this bad since hurricane irene. It was unbelievable. The water was so deep. There wasnt a major rainstorm called for. How fast do you estimate it was coming down and how long did it last . Lasted about two hours but it came down like 3 to 4 inches an hour. Reporter you said it got to the point where you couldnt see out of your windshield, you had to pull over. I had to pull over at a restaurant. This wouldnt work. It was dangerous. Ross is following the story with more. Reporter the Little Information that Niagara Falls hotel has on the couple is making it hard for police to determine if they are from brooklyn or new jersey. Investigators dont believe the pair crossed back over the border d. They are trying to track them down and check on the welfare of that baby. Police were called to this Howard Johnson near Niagara Falls tuesday after police were notified of a baby locked in a safe. They were called to the couples room where the baby was crying and trapped inside the small space measuring a foot and a half wide. Its not known the sex of the child just that it may be under a year in age. Reporter investigators say the safe was larger than a Standard Hotel safe and it took workers nearly 20 minutes to get the baby out. Aside from crying, the child appeared to be fine. How the baby became locked in the safe is a mystery since the couple left with the child before police could ask questions. This may be nothing more than a preventible accident. That front will be stalled over the tristate region. In the meantime, everything west of the city will weaken when we lose the daytime heating. During the day tomorrow, not expecting widespread activity but there could be a couple of downpours west of the city at some point this afternoon, isolated spots. Tomorrow night into early friday, we are watching this batch of rain consolidate over the area. Watch friday. The front sits over us. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2013, he died a young 64 last year. We didnt think he was as sick as he was. Reporter after his funerals, they ordered a headstone. We paid them in fullback in the beginning of april. They said it wont be until june and then in june we checked and they said it wont be until july. The last time i spoke to him, he said it was done, it was going to tampa bay placed the following week and that was on july 7th. When the family organized a visit to the grave that weekend. There was nothing there. Reporter she learned the stone was still out of state. They said it was in vermont and it would take they werent sure when it would be shipped. Reporter their mom lacked the strength to fight for her husband. She called 7 on your side and see if you could help her. Reporter so we paid them a visit. One of the partners said he couldnt explain why the memorial was promised because they dont guarantee delivery dates but assured the stone would be set the next day. Just how i pictured it. Reporter true to their word they paid to have the headstone shipped express and next to the woods where the outdoorsman would have wanted it, a fitting contribute. Some kind of closure to having it.
