JAMSHEDPUR: Life is limping back to normal in most of the low-lying areas near Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers in Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) brass is keeping a close vigil on these areas and has instructed the staff to start sprinkling bleaching powder as soon as water completely recedes from the areas to prevent any outbreak of disease.
After the heavy rainfall in this area, dam gates in Chandil and neighbouring Odisha were opened this weekend which led to the rise in water levels in both Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers. The water from both the rivers flooded the low-lying areas in the city.
