New from overnight, it has been an especially violent night in the city of philadelphia with seven people shot. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live in feltonville, the scene of a deadly shooting. Jesse, tell us more. Reporter tracy, this motives in all these shootings remain unknown. Seven people hit by gunfire in the overnight hours and the count was nearly eight. The only person killed that happened around 11 00 last night in the feltonville section of the city a 21yearold man was shot in the face several times by a man dressed in all black. Now, the victims father chased off the shooter who fired two more times at the pursuing dad but he missed him. The suspect jumped in a toyota and sped south heading away from north 4th street. Within the last hour weve learned that the 21yearold man whos at Temple University hospital doctors were trying to save his life but they were not able to did that. He was produced dead within the last couple of minutes. Last night, crews found the body of a man who disappeared while swimming across the Delaware River from burlington city. Around 7 00 p. M. They saw three people jump in the water to swim to burlington island. Theres an abandoned Amusement Park on that island. Halfway across one of the swimmers started to struggle. Several people on the shore jumped in to try to save him. He jumped in the water, threw life preservers. The one gentleman that jumped in actually had his hands on him, he said. Really . He just went under. He couldnt get him. Officials have not released the name of the victim. A man in his 20s. Years ago. Burlington city banned anyone from going to burlington island. Officials say people still try to swim over to it. Several hours earlier, a 22yearold virginia man apparently drown. Marquis richardson went swimming at bristol wharf in bucks county. Witnesses say he was swimming just fine and suddenly started thrashing and yelling for help before going under. Officials suspended their search for him because of dangerous currents. Today, the Lehigh County mother charged with killing her tod herred to toddlers son, investigators say she threw her 20monthold son off the hamilton street bridge and jumped in herself. Rescue crews saved perry but could not revive the baby. A Prayer Service is set to be held tonight for a recent drexel grad who was murdered last week. Jasmine wright was found murdered in her row home in west philadelphia. That should help us down a bit. We dont have an excessive heat warning issued for tomorrow yet. We have to get through today first. 69 in the poconos, 83 in northeast philly 80 in mt. Holly, 80 in Atlantic City 79 in wildwood and temperatures in wilmington at 80 degrees. The feelslike temperature, this is whats really impressive for this time of the morning, it feels like its close to 90 degrees still. Thats for philadelphia, stretching into northeast philly. It feels like 84 in trenton, 58 in mt. Holly and feeling like 85 degrees at the Atlantic City airport. High 80s is what it feels like in dover. Heres the areas highlighted in orange or pink, that means its either under a heat advisory or excessive heat warning. What that basically means is dangerous heat heading into the rest of today for virtually our entire area. The only exception is Lancaster County and the poconos. The bottom line is it will feel like 100 to 105 degrees. Make sure youre drinking plenty of water heading into the rest of today, even heading into your early evening hours t you to be very careful. The whole length of the schuylkill expressway eastbound from the blue route up towards the vine street expressway to the Center City Area only a 12minute trip. 95 no problems headed southbound as well. Cherry hill new jersey where we are watching an ongoing construction project, route 70 westbound from south cornell avenue to mcclelland avenue is down to one lane. Use caution when heading through the area. Theres only one lane going through. The tacony palmyra the Burlington Bristol are still clear. We have construction on the ben. You could suffer from heatrelated illnesses, especially with the feelslike temperature between 100 and 105 degrees. Heat tips drink plenty of water, stay inside, or shade. The air quality will not be great today. Be careful if you plan on jogging outside. Id say save that for wednesday, dont try and do that today. The radar shot shows a few of the scattered showers starting to break up as they move closer to the region. A chance of a few passing showers by 6 00 p. M.
