We were with parents when their phones started going off that the Teachers Union notified the district it plans to walk out beginning monday. It means no classes for monday. However, the School District is hopeful that an emergency session over the weekend may get all of this patched back up so they can get kids back in class. They are urging parents to Pay Attention to the School Website and text alerts and email for updated information. There is no time for that emergency bargaining session. Theyre hoping to have everyone sit down together on sunday. Some of the sticking points in the contract, the negotiations have been going on since january were told, include the Health Care Plans for the teachers and the premiums. The union arguing it has already made a number of concessions here over the last several years through the recession as well as a lot of over time in the last year when the district shut down an Elementary School. We did talk to parents today. They say they are on the side of the teachers. Im with the teachers, absolutely. I love the School District. I went to this School District. My children go to this School District. Im with the teachers absolutely. Do you think they can get this resolved before monday . I hope so. This has been going on since january. Who knows . The School District sent out a statement a while ago from the School Board President saying this is the time the students are settling into their educational routine and learning materials that will set the tone for the year. It is so disheartening they will be denied this because of the mea decision, the acronym for the teachers yoop union here. Well expect lifethreatening rip currents, very high waves. We have a Tropical Storm thats going to be passing by perhaps very, very close to the shoreline out there. 82 right now in cape may. Looking at winds out of the south to six miles an hour. In philadelphia 83 degrees, winds out of the west and southwest to eight miles an hour. Its a little sticky and steamy out there, very summer like. Were above average. We should be at about 79 this time of year. No rain out there right now. A few sprinkles in the offing. Im not going to rule out a sprinkle or brief shower tonight or even tomorrow. You can see this little rotation, this is whats left of what was the most powerful hurricane on record in the atlantic basin. It is drifting off to the north and east. Lets go hourbyhour for you, take you through tonight. Thats going the muggy. We could see patchy fog forming very late, especially in the outlining areas. Please be aware of that if youre going to be driving around. Tomorrow, youll wake up and see maybe a little sun, maybe a little clouds, temperatures can climb quickly. What were going to start watching monday night is jose, a Tropical Storm right now with 70mileanhour winds. A couple of things about jose that you should know. This storm is going to cross the warmest water out there right there along the east coast. 90s there, 80s off carolina, 70s off our coastline. This storm will intensify once it hits our weather. The track becomes a category one hurricane. Yes, the beaches in new jersey and delaware are in this cone. It looks like its still going to probably track offshore. Anywhere in the cone is fair game. Boston is watching, hartford is, new york is, of course new jersey and right on down into the beaches and delaware. Going to be watching this for next tuesday and wednesday as it passes by. A couple of things its going to do, its going to continue our rip current risk. Right now we have moderate that will go to high risk next weekend and next week. There are no lifeguards at the beaches, so please be careful. Very high waves, 10 to 15foot waves. We can deal with high winds, heavy rain. Were going to be possibly feeling the effects of a Tropical Storm, maybe a category 1 hurricane. Its not likely to make landfall, but weve got to watch it closely. At this point we are still part of us in that cone. Behind that, another one in the pipeline and two more out in the atlantic. We just fired up the peak of tropical season right now. Nbc 10s Brandon Hudson is live in. Were at the site of the most recent attempted luring. This morning you can see it is a oneway street. Cars parked on both sides, row homes on both sides. New construction right behind where were standing. Police say this is where a man unzipped his pants in front of a 10yearold girl in front of a school. Its one of three attempted lurings. The first at the 4900 block of ditman street. Another man walked up to a girl and showed her a camera and some money. She ran to the school and told her teacher. Ten minutes later, the same thing occurred at the 5300 block of jackson street except it looks like it was a different man and different girl. Police are also investigating another case of attempted luring that happened yesterday where a student told police he saw another man take photos of them and record video of them while they were in the school yard playing. Police released a vague description of the men involved. We do know in at least two Different Cases that these men were seen in black vehicles with heavy intoed windows. Like
